I usually wear between size 8.5 and 9 in shoes. I wear size 9 in Frye Billy boots and size 8.5 in Frye campus. I bought size 9 and they fit great. I'm 5'8", I have pretty thin legs and the Dorados fit perfectly with a bit of room to spare around the calf. Like a previous review, I think these boots were almost too tall -- I let a shorter friend try them on and she walked like wooden soldier unable to bend her knees. These are my favorite boots and I am guaranteed to get compliments every time I wear them! In fact, one pushy woman demanded that I tell her not only the brand, but the model and where I got them. Another reviewer said that they are too slouchy around the ankles, I disagree. As a person who avoids slouchy boots and anything that might make my legs look thick, I really like the way they look though they are a bit roomy. I don't know any slip-on boots that aren't roomy in the ankles or I'd guess that you probably wouldn't be able to get them on. Highly recommended!

Love these boots! Not only are the comfortable, true to size, but I am always getting compliments on them! Watch out for the height though, I am 5'7" and they are almost too tall. If my calves were 1/2" longer, they'd fit perfectly. Still love 'em though.

I would first like to mention the excellent and fast service from Zappos. I ordered these yesterday (9/5/11) on a holiday and got them today! I didn't expect that, but it sure was great. I didn't have a chance to really put these together with any outfits yet, but I can say that they are wonderful and they fit great. I don't have pencil thin calves, but unlike other reviews, there seems to be ample room in the calf. The leather is so soft -- Frye quality. So I would say if you are even thinking about these -- order them. If they don't work out; it's free to send them back, no loss to you. But odds are you won't. They are a classic style that will always be "in style". Love you guys at Zappos. Happy customer for several years now and will continue that trend.

Review of service. I ordered the tan Frye Dorado Low on Monday evening at 7:30pm. When I returned home from work today, on Tuesday at 5:30pm, the boots were here! Zappos, you are simply amazing! Review of boots: Frye, you are also just as amazing. The boots are just as pictured and as described. Although they are a little loose around the heel, I can correct that with an insert that I had already planned on using. I am 5'1, and the size 6 hits right to the base of my knee. That's exactly where I wanted them to go. Plus, there is a little slouch, which gives a more casual feel to the rough in tough look of the boot. The toes are rounded, as in a roper style boot. The boot shaft is very, very slender, fitting meant for tights, bare legs, or the skinniest jeans that is made. If this is what you are looking for, look no further.

These are such a classic beauty in black for that traditional riding look. Comfortable,and gorgeous with such an attractive trim calf that flatters the whole leg. I'm really impressed with these and the sale price is fantastic. I buy from Zappos over other discount stores and auctions because of their impeccable return policy. Never any anxiety of wondering if I can return and what will it cost to return?

ordered the boot and it arrived overnight. It's a fabulous boot - slender and comfortable, stylish and timeless all in one. Surprisingly easy to get on and off, even though it's a tall boot. Ordered the 9½, since the 9 was not available, but it feels like it's a 9, so I wonder if the sizing is a bit smaller than traditional sizing. Absolutely love these boots, and VERY pleased with my purchase.

This boot is elegantly tall and thin. The foot is comfortable and flexible. The size 8 boot is 13.5 inches in circumference and 18 inches tall. This is the best boot ever for both comfort and style. Zappos service is excellent.

Fabulous boot. I ordered a 7½ as I usually waiver between a 7 and 7½, and it was perfect at first and then stretched, so I ended up exchanging for the size 7. A bit tight at first, it fit perfectly. I am about 5'4" and the 7½ was a little too high on my leg, hitting my knee cap just underneath, so the 7 ended up better for that too. It's not a dark chocolate brown, but more a burnished brown, with grayish and reddish tints.

I get a new pair of Frye boots every year, and these are amazing! The toe is much narrower than expected, but the leather is soft enough that I'm sure they will be very easy to break in. I got them in grey, and the leather is very very soft. They come to just below my knee and fit great in the calf. They have such a classic look that I'm sure I'll be passing them along to my daughter years and years from now.

These boots are amazing. If you like the 70's boho feel, then these are for you. Great with above the knee dresses with leggings and skinny jeans.

The black color is more of a washed charcoal grey look, but I still love it. Just be forewarned that it gives everything a more casual look. The fit is typical Frye, i.e., there is some heel slipping and blistering right on the back of the heel, but it works itself out as you break them in. I love the height of the shaft. I am about 5'8" with long legs and somewhat skinny calves, and the shaft of this boot fit great. The top opening fits around my upper calf/below knee perfectly and looks awesome.

Gorgeous boots. Usually wear a 7 1/2, but ordered an 8 which was the right size. The leather was very mismatched so sent back for a different pair which was fine. When I first opened the box, the boots were light gray due to a wax on the leather which wipes off easily, leaving a kind of light weathered black. They are great for thinner legs, definitely wouldn't work for larger calves. So for skinny legged people that want a pull on boot, these are perfect! They are very tall and can be slouched a little, too. These were worth the big bucks for me. An investment in a classic riding boot. I love them!

I absolutely love these boots. They are worth every penny! I get so many compliments on them too! They are comfy, and get better the more I wear them. They were very stiff at first, and I was worried about breaking them in, but it wasn't so bad. I just put a band aid on my heel to protect it from rubbing. Now they are great. I love them with leggings and skinny jeans! I have pretty narrow calves, and these are great and stay up!

I went up half a size and don't regret it (although I do have a slightly longer 8, so the 8.5 is perfect). Very narrow boot, so great for narrow feet like mine. Narrow feet will slip right in. I also have skinny long legs, and these are perfect. Length hits right below your knee. Furthermore, I think the soft leather holds up just fine.

Just received this boot--super fast shipping with Zappos free upgrade. The boots, made of oiled suede, are beautiful. Online help sealed the purchase. I'm small, so there's some slouch with this very, very soft leather. But I got a half size larger so socks will help. Plus slouch doesn't look bad with what the online consultant called a "rustic" boot. I'd recommend this boot, which is a keeper for the years. Also, I can't say enough good things about Zappos service.

I ordered these in the 7.5 even though my true size is 8, because several other pairs of Frye boots I have are 7.5. I had to return them for my true size because the toe is narrower than my other pairs. I did have a lot of heel slip which was discouraging, but I will try the heel cup insert suggested by another user. The grey leather is a beautiful color and the height was perfect on my leg (I'm 5 7"). Zappos was expedient with processing an exchange. I look forward to wearing these this fall with skirts and skinny jeans.

Great boots! Finally, a pair of Frye boots that are narrow through the shaft and don't slouch! I have pretty narrow calves, and these are great! They will need to be broken in a little, but I know I'll get a lot of use out of them! The black is not jet black; it is more of a dark charcoal. I actually prefer the color in person! Fit is true to size, but definitely don't order on the smaller size!

These are the most comfortable boots. The moment they arrived I feel in love with the soft leather and great fit.

These are possibly the nicest boots I’ve ever had! They stay up (they’re really tall) or slouch nicely. Stylish for right now and they will be in the future -- worth every penny!!!

Not loving the ankles - In many ways, I love this boot. However, the softness of the leather makes the ankles bunch up on me in an unflattering way, since the fit on calves "fits" me well (I have average, not thin nor large calves). If this were in a stiffer leather where it didn't fall down or get pushed down so easily, I would be very happy, I think. Also, I did go down a half size from my normal shoe size (though this is typical for Frye boots).

I was a little disappointed in these boots, but I'll probably keep them anyway. They fit true to size and what I love is that the shaft is super tall (I'm 5'10" and they come right to my knee). What I don't like is 1) the lining of the black boot is bright orange, and 2) the leather feels stiff and kind of waxy. I imagine the leather will get softer over time, but right now it's not slouchy at all. I might get the lining replaced with black, at least the part that shows around the top of the boot.
