Beautifully made boot. Frye is the best, but not right for me. Way too narrow in the calf, and also the leather was not as nicely grained as I would want. There was an odd white material (boot polish?) in the grain which was very unattractive. Perhaps a result of the cold, but then I wouldn't want to have that happen if I wore them out in the cold.

I really wanted to love this boot and was so excited when they went on sale! However, I had the same problems many other reviewers have mentioned. I thought the boots looked beautiful in the box and I agree that the leather is very high quality. However, even though I've never though of myself as having wide calves, the boots were very tight around my calves, causing ugly puckering around the ankle and other places. I could pull them all the way up, but then they stuck there and caused bunching. The tightness combined with the height of the shaft also squeezed the skin on my knee cap in an unflattering and uncomfortable way (yes, I'm 5'11" and they did cover the bottom part of my knee cap, so they do have a nice tall shaft). Additionally, while many reviewers have said that these boots run true to size, my true were much too big on me, at least 1/2 size. There was tons of room in the toe box, which made my feet look huge. I do have a narrow foot, which could have been the problem. All in all, a beautiful boot, but definitely not for me!

Notice the stick-like shape of these boots? Well, that's exactly what they look like when you put them on. They are narrow at the top and wide at the ankle. Stick-like. Not feminine-looking. And to my surprise given that I'm tall (5'9"), the tall shafts of these boots actually press up uncomfortably into my knee caps when I stand or walk. I'm surprised that shorter women haven't mentioned this problem because it was a big one. My friend said that there are shoe cobblers who can cut a V into the front of the boots, but who wants to pay this much for a pair of boots and then pay more to cut them up? [although the boots sure would look nicer if Frye had put a V in the front]. Another thing -- although I was able to tuck my jeans into these tall boots, the boots made my jeans get puffy-looking at the knee so it looked kind of like I was wearing a pair of knickerbockers. Knickerbockers and stick legs -- not a good look, in my opinion. I will say, though, that the brown-colored leather with the black running through it made for a very nicely-textured look and the quality of leather was beautiful. Perhaps these boots get softer and more feminine-looking once they're broken in but I'm not going to find out. I'm sending them back.

Too slouchy around the ankles! Bad move to buy these boots online. They are taller than I expected (low) and one of my toes gets sore at the top when I wear them. Sigh.

These boots are gorgeous! I love them and I wear them every day! They are super comfortable, sexy, and go with everything. I ordered a half size smaller, because my last pair of Frye boots needed to be a half size smaller, but then had to return those to get my real size. So definitely order your real size!

Great boot! Super comfy fit, right out of the box. I am 5\'10 and these are knee high for me. I\'d say they are true to fit, I ordered my regular size. If you have thin/average calves there will be plenty of room to tuck your jeans in. It is true that they slouch a little around the ankle. However, I would recommend to buy, these will be beautiful and comfortable for years. They are timeless boots and I will rock them long after the equestrian trend is gone.

I love my Frye boots! As soon as I slipped them on I knew I had made a good investment. To me these boots are a piece of art; thank you to whoever crafted them!

These Boots Are So Perfect!! Just got these boots in the dark brown suede. They are so soft and beautiful. Exactly what I was looking for. I'm tall (5'8'') and slender, with normal sized calves, and they fit perfectly. Other reviewers said they were too tight around the calves and that they were unable to tuck jeans into the boots, but my "skinny" jeans fit inside perfectly. Oh, and they are so comfortable! I wore them today for the first time and there was no break-in period. They were a bit loose in the back, but heel cushions fixed that problem right away. These boots are sexy, simple, and of Frye's usual high quality. I'm thrilled!

So good - I love this boot! Excellent quality and fit. Seemed true to size to me. The suede slouches ever so slightly, but I think it works. They're just tailored enough to make hippie skirts look polished and just slouchy enough to suggest vintage cool with a straight skirt. And on sale!

GET THIS BOOT!!!! It's soo beautiful in person! Again, Frye runs large so order at least a 1/2 size down from your normal size. Absolutely no arch support so look out for that...but otherwise I'm *very* happy with this boot!

Great quality but not quite perfect - The buttery soft suede contributes to both its appeal and downfall. It is such high quality leather that it drapes rather than stands rigid, which unfortunately contributes to the cankle effect that other reviewers have mentioned. However, even when "cankled", the slimness of the shaft and thinness of the leather still make the boots appear streamlined and modern on the leg. I suspect the shaft is narrow to prohibit even more slouching. The heels do slip, but that is often the case with pull on cowboy boots and in no way means that your foot isn't secure. Overall, while not perfect, I have yet to find a better grey-colored boot. I expect to wear them for years.

AMAZING - I just received these boots in the brown leather. They are fantastic - everything I was looking for. The fit is a little bit problematic, but nothing that can't be solved...they look too good to give up! I found them true to size and just comfortable width-wise, but don't try them if you have wide feet. As other people commented, the heel is a bit loose. Although this was a little unnerving at first, a day or so of wearing them around broke them in and they feel much better. I bought some CVS heel pads (Dr. Scholl's make them as well) which makes it a slightly snugger fit and stops the rubbing that you sometimes get with loose heels. I also invested (for 8 bucks!) in some gel heel cushions, which make them more comfortable - because the shaft is narrow, you can't really wear normal socks - I would recommend "tights" knee-highs (sheer hose knee-highs would be too thin). My calf is pretty muscular and they stay up OK with a little slouch, but not as straight as the photo...I also probably couldn't tuck in anything other than thinnish skinny jeans. If you are worried a shoe-maker can easily put an elastic gusset in the back...something which I am considering. This may sound like a lot of work, but once you touch the leather and see the warm, glowy color you will not want to send them back. They look so fabulous with jeans, and with the small adjustments I made they are really comfortable; just persevere until you break them in (a couple of days of solid walking). I ride horses and you have to do all this to real riding boots, so you're getting an authentic experience!

I received these shoes as a gift and I really love them. I purchased the dark brown suede. They look really great on. They have just enough structure, but they also have a little bit of slouch on the ankle. The only criticism that I would have is that they are very tight around the top of the calves. This is helpful for keeping them up, but is problematic for fitting over jeans. If you are planning to wear these boots with jeans I would recommend purchasing riding boot socks to pull over your jeans and help the boots fit better.

I love them - The look and feel of this boot is exquisite. The leather is beautiful. The sizing is about 'real'. I have a high instep and had to have one of the boots stretched to accommodate squeezing my foot in. I'm still breaking them in so they're not perfectly comfortable yet, but, I can tell they will be. These are beautiful boots and I expect them to last my lifetime.

Love them! These are gorgeous. The leather is beautiful. I have a 9 in the harness boot, which is a little too big (I use a heel pad) so I got an 8 1/2 in these, which works well with thicker boot socks. The foot is very comfortable, and the shaft stays up even on my thin calves as long as I have knee socks for it to cling to. I think I'd prefer a stiffer leather on the shaft, but this is so pretty I'm willing to live with it. :)

Pricey, but gorgeous - Bought these in a store in because I wanted to see them in person. I normally wear an 8 1/2 in the harness boot, and recently took a 7 1/2 in the harness clog, but bought an 8 in these. They are pretty low volume, and if I try to add an insole/heel pad, they're very tight. Maybe I should have gone up a size? There’s no padding in the sole, but if you're used to all-leather/non padded shoes, you'll find these comfortable. I’m relatively short (5'4") with short legs, and like how they pull up to just below my knee. The shaft'll stay there, or you can scrunch them down (it's made of extremely soft leather). I think I have fairly big calves, but have no problem with the boot's shaft fitting. I have the brown leather, which has a gorgeous patina to it, as though you've owned and cared for them for years. Highly recommended. Wish I could afford them in every color and texture!

So cute! Fabulous pair of boots. I was a little nervous about sizing, what with some reviews saying the fit ran big and some saying small- I took a chance and ordered my regular size... and they fit perfectly! So happy with these boots.

Love these boots! These are the best investment boots you will find. They are so soft (chocolate suede) and stylish. I have ordered and returned a lot of boots this fall- too big, too western, too sporty, too trendy, and these are the perfect pair. They are a bit western, but more tailored and sophisticated than most boots I have seen for years. They are great with pants and skirts, they look tailored under your pants and fun with a skirt. I hesitated for weeks because of the price- but I know I will get a lot of wear out of these and they will last forever- so I think they are worth it. One criticism is that the shaft is narrow- I have very skinny, long legs and they are just right. I would not recommend anyone that has not been called "skinny legs" trying these because they are very narrow at in the shaft.

Classic low-heeled tall boot - Boots are a bit more baggy at the ankle than I'd like, but not enough to warrant return. Lovely, comfortable low-heeled boot.

Amazing Boots - These boots are soooo comfortable and the leather is so soft, I just love them!! This is my first pair of Frye boots and I think they are truly great quality boots. They are expensive but they are well worth it!!! Since these boots are pull on, I did worry about the ease of putting them on and off but because the leather is so soft, I have no trouble taking them off or putting them on at all.

Frye Fashion - This boot is gorgeous and a good fit. I can't wait to wear them when the weather gets a bit colder. I did take them to get soles put on, just to give them a bit more traction. Expensive, but an investment, as I think I will wear these boots for years.

Frye's Dorado boots - These are great looking knee-high boots. I normally take a 9.5 and originally ordered them in a 9 because some reviewers found they ran a bit big. Had to return and ordered them in my usual size which fit well. I do find a bit of slippage in the heel as one reviewer also found, but will wear with a sock. I am hard to fit in boots because I have very narrow ankles and skinny calves -- these work!
