I still have not been able to get the right boot on my foot! I have this same boot in the dark brown and the shaft is a little more rigid so I can pull it on. But the shaft on this color is very loose almost like a sock and I cannot push my foot through it! Still trying though and a cobbler is stretching the instep for me. I might even try to have a zipper put in. I do love how they look!

After 3 years of wanting these boots, I finally ordered a pair, but still wondered if, when I had them in my hands, would they be worth the price tag. The long anticipated day came. I opened the box and that heavenly leather smell hit me. As I looked them over, I could tell these really are good quality boots. It took some pulling to get them on the first time and they felt a tad stiff, but several wears later, they go on easier and start to break in...but they were actually pretty comfortable right out of the box. Overall, I really like them. I wouldn't be opposed to buying another pair of Frye boots in the future.

I do not recommend the Chocolate Glazed Vintage color. I tried two pair of that color and the glaze cracks incredibly easily, with every bend of the shoe the color seems to chip away. The first pair I immediately shipped back due to excessive scratches without ever wearing and the second pair looked just like the first after one wear. Zappos was amazing and sent me a different color and allowed a return of these which I wore one time and was dissatisfied with. Bravo zappos, the best service I have ever received. The boot itself is amazing! I have the black calf shine vintage and I love them. They are a nice muted black with a dull smooth finish and almost appear dark charcoal. I wear them all the time. I went up a half size bc I have high arches and don't like the pressure on the top of my foot. Mine are roomy with socks. Durable and so cute with skinny jeans. Love!

Boots are very difficult to order online and I am glad for Zappos. I ordered 6 different boots before finding the right one. I finally kept the Veronica Slouch, Dark Brown Soft Vintage (size 6.5). I have athletic calves (15"), a bunion on one foot, longish toes, high arch and I am petite (5 ') so the shaft length has to be 14.5 or less. These boots actually fit! And the brown color is very nice. I hate real brown shoes...always get them and regret my decision. But this brown is interesting. The brown has a very slight red tone and the toe tips are slightly black. Sounds odd but it is really beautiful. When my other black boots are worn I will definitely look at Frye boots.

I spent over a year saving up for and salivating over these boots. I also spent that year carefully thinking about them, reading reviews, and finally, tried them on. Let me start with saying I bought these in the Black Soft Vintage Leather in a size 8 (my normal size). #1 Shaft Height: These, unless you are petite, will NOT go to the knee. I m 5 6 with long legs and they, slouched, hit just under the fullest part of my calf. I tried these on in congac and they cut off the visual line of the leg. I realized brown boots just look better if you buy a pair that come to the knee. So, I decided on black. #2 Toe Box and Size: Normally I would buy these in a 7.5. However, you have to feel where the toe box is. You can do this with your hand inside the boot. There is a stiff area and a distinct line where the fiberglass fabric that keeps the toe shape ends. That part of the boot will NOT ever stretch. The part that is leather beyond that line will. There was also a significant difference between the 7.5 and 8 that I tried on. The 7.5 felt like my toes were way too squished side to side. The 8 was a comfortable and not the ideal new-Frye boot feel (which should be a bit more snug). I went with the 8 for comfort. Also, be sure to try these boots on with thicker socks a general rule when trying on Western boots--which these technically are. #3 Leather Stiffness: There is a big difference between the regular leather options and the vintage leather. The soft vintage leather is buttery soft and slouches faster. This is the one I went for because it was just amazing. I needed it to puddle early because of my fuller calves. If you have skinny calves you may want a stiffer leather to hold itself up. #4 Calf Circumference: I have 14.75 calves. The regular boot with the circumference given should have had more room. They did NOT. I tried them on in an extended calf size and they had much more room (so the boots looked more like what a regular boot looks like on a woman with skinny calves). However, I felt like the visual proportion was wonky with a tiny foot and giant shaft circumference. Also, you d need the stiffer leather options to keep the look right. I opted to go with the regular boot and slouched it to a flattering point on the leg. I LOVE these boots. I plan to keep them forever. They are what I consider style makers. You put them on with any ho-hum outfit and the whole thing starts to have style. I wear them with EVERYTHING. Worth saving up for!

Much too narrow for my foot. As spendy as they are I would have had to really love them and I can say. The boot seemed short and were really uncomfortable.

I purchased these on 6pm since they were on sale. Even with a discount, I paid quite a bit, and I was expecting high quality boots for the money and for the Frye brand. I have another pair of Frye boots that have amazing craftsmanship and that live up to the brand name, so I had a point of reference. I was so excited to get the Veronica Slouch after eyeing them for a few months and finally taking the plunge to purchase them. Shipping was quick which was nice. However, when I finally received them, I opened the box and right away noticed a huge difference in the craftsmanship and quality of the shoes between my other pair of Frye boots. It was so disappointing - the leather wasn't as luxurious, but rather thin...there was no lining inside the shaft of the boots, and the stitch work on the shoe seemed mediocre (glue visibly sticking out on the seams, etc.). I really couldn't believe they were Frye boots! I decided to return them right away. 6pm being a Zappos discount site offers free shipping when you make a purchase, but no free return shipping like its sister site.

These are fantastic! I was nervous about ordering my first pair of Frye boots, but I'm glad I did! These do not disappoint. I ordered the color Dark Brown Soft Vintage, and it is a gorgeous dark brown color, perfect for fall/winter. My usual shoe size is a 7, so that's what I ordered, but after walking around the house a bit, I found that my heel was popping right out of these and my foot was sliding around. I exchanged for a 6.5 and they fit PERFECTLY. At first, I had to wiggle my heel to get it in to the boot, but after a few wears, the leather stretched to fit the shape of my foot! I was surprised. I usually wouldn't size down, but the 7 was really large on me. If you plan on wearing thick socks with these, I would order your usual size. We don't really get too cold where I live, so the 6.5 will work just fine for me. Overall, GORGEOUS boot, luxurious leather and perfect to dress up or dress down. I will be ordering a pair in black soon!

I've had these boots for many years. I bought them back when the style first came out. Frye suggested going up a 1/2 size. That was good advice. They took a bit to break in but once they did, perfection. These are the boots I take to Europe and other travels because I can walk in them endlessly with no problem. I get lots of compliments too. Just wanted you to know that you will love them for the long haul.

It is Frye so of course excellent quality. Leather on the vintage soft is yummy. Only complaint is the calf bulges out too far. I kept the boot but if you have a very thin calf you may not like it. Otherwise very great boots.

When I first bought these boots I had no children. These boots were super comfie and I could wear them all day. Two children later, I regret not listening to anyone about maintaining my arch support. The shape of my foot changed! I cannot wear these boots anymore. It is unbearable. There is this irritating seam in the back that is constantly rubbing up against my heel. I HATE these shoes now. Granted, my foot may have gotten bigger? I'm going to get these stretched to see if that will fix anything. If not, I will need to sell them. Such a shame since these were an investment!

I finally caved and bought these in cognac. I have a hard time finding tall boots that look good on me because I am petite (5'3") with real skinny kind of bowed legs. These aren't very tall compared to the other tall boots out there, and got great reviews by other petites, so I gave it a shot. Truth be told, I was hoping to hate them since they are about twice the amount of money I would ever pay for a boot. Darn it, I love them. The cognac color is darker and not as coppery and distressed as the picture shows, but it is beautiful. They are not as comfortable out of the box as a Born boot, they seem more like real cowboy boots that mold to your feet after a lot of wear and become like a second skin. They hit my upper calf in a good spot, just high enough to show above the boot socks if I want, and the slight slouch at the ankle balances out my leg. I ordered my true size, 7.5, and had no problem getting them on and they seem true to size. I don't have high arches or anything. I tried them first with thin socks. There's enough room for wool socks too when it gets cold out. The quality of the leather on the cognac boots seems really good, and I will be using the leather protector on them to protect them from salt and water. These have a good leather sole, so they can be resoled when necessary, which is great! All in all, my wallet is very sad they are such great boots.

I purchased these boots on line and they are adorable. I got the size 7 which is what a normally wear in Frye's. Unfortunately, these had to be returned because I barely got my foot into them (and then out of them). I have a high instep and although it's never been a problem before, these boots seem to run a little small and narrow at the bottom of the shaft which made it nearly impossible for me to bend my foot in half to get them on and with only knee high panty hose on, let alone a sock or something heavier. I liked them well enough to have exchanged for a 7.5 or 8 but they were not available in those sizes.

I am not at all happy with these boots! The pair that was sent to me was used! The leather was scratched on the toes of both boots and the heels of the boots also showed signs of use. I like the boots but they were too snug across the toes and they felt too small. I did call customer service and they were very apologetic and immediately issued me a coupon code for a future purchase. These will obviously be going back.

While I do like these boots, they are by far the lowest quality of all my Frye boots. The leather scratches and gets scraped really easily, especially on the toes. Instead of getting that nice worn-in patina of my Harness and Melissa Button styles, it seems like the top layer of the leather is being completely scraped off. The leather did stretch easily to accommodate my larger than average calves. After a short break in period, they fit quite comfortably with boot socks. They would be my favorite boots if they just a bit more durable.

Frye no longer stands for quality. What a disappointment! One boot is smaller than the other, and it's not my feet because I never have that problem with shoes. Nowhere on the boot does it say the size, or where it was made. The leather is really cheap looking - they look like they might as well be fake. Not what you expect after spending so much money! I have 3 pairs of Fryes and they're great. But what has happened to the quality?! These are uncomfortable and the sole is not great either. The Veronica Slouches used to be nice boots. Very disappointed.

I love these boots. I have owned my pair of Veronica Slouch boots for at least six years. I wear them at least four days a week at least eight months out of the year. They have held up so incredibly well I cannot believe it. They are definitely worth the investment. Every two years or so I get the heels resoled and I use a natural leather treatment to keep them looking great. I fully expect them to last me at least another ten years. My pair is on the slouchy end, which I quite like. However, I have a friend who purchased her Veronica's after I did and hers are much more upright and stiff so there might be some variation. Overall, I would highly recommend them.

Purchased these on line in size 7 which is my normal size in Frye boots but couldn't get my foot into them. I do not have an issue with a high arch but no amount of pushing pulling or wiggling could get my foot down into the boot past the shaft. Broke my heart, they were adorable but didn't fit. Never exchanged to see if a 7.5 would do the trick but beware, if you have any type of high arch, size up accordingly.

I really wanted to like this boot but just couldn't do it. The make and style of the boot are great but the actual finish is what I couldn't get over. They would be great with some things but not everything. As far as comfort and structure Frye boots are well worth the money.

I really liked these boots. I wear a 7.5 and ordered the same. They fit, are a bit snug in the toes, but the heal slips a bit too much. I have a pair of Phillip Harness in a 7.5 and ABSOLUTELY love them. I was hoping these would work so that I did not have to pony up the funds for a different pair (these were on sale) but they just did not work.

A great boot but I am very disappointed because after wearing them less than 10 times, the buckle tab on the side came unstitched and was hanging off the boot. I don't expect this from Frye. Now I'm stuck with having to return the boot to get it repaired. I'm pretty aggravated.

I ordered this boot in the "Calf Shine Vintage Black." If you're looking for a true black, this is not the color for you. This color was more like a coppery brownish black.
