It seems Birkenstock has changed the fit of some styles. These felt smaller and narrower than my older Birks. Online research confirms they changed the London or maybe it’s me, so I returned and ordered the Boston to try. The online photo is darker than the actual product in taupe suede.

It is more a matter of style. The shoe has good quality and is comfortable. So if you're into hitting a party on a pair of Crocs, these are definitely a step up. I just couldn't find anything in my wardrobe to pair them with.

I have high arches and normally wear Birkenstock Boston and Arizona styles. Unfortunately, the London shape on the top of the shoe causes my foot to be squeezed down onto the footbed and I can’t get my foot far enough into the shoe so that the arch support aligns with my arch. They are wide enough, but not high enough to accommodate a high arch. I tried them on multiple times and finally decided to keep them in the hope that they would loosen up with wear. I wore them to work for a full day. Huge mistake. This issue is what I would expect from the soft footbed style but I didn’t expect my feet to be squeezed in the regular width and footbed. The length and roomy toe area are great.

This is my second pair of London's. I loved my first pair (used for work) which I bought a few years ago. My second pair feel a little small and are very uncomfortable. I love Birkenstock's but I am very disappointed with this pair. Will most likely need to return.

It's not the best of the Birkenstock designs. Difficult to slip on and off without unbuckling. And I agree with some others, seem a bit wide. Not all that attractive, toe is more geometric than it appears in my view. If you like the Birkenstock sole then OK. But otherwise, I'd look at other models.

2nd grade revisited - These shoes are very good looking and I am still in the "break-in" stage with them. My only complaint is that my socks keep falling down. I have worn several styles of socks, at first thinking it was something about the socks but it seems it is more about the shoes. I have other Birkenstocks with open backs and this does not happen. I'll keep wearing them and maybe with a little time the problem will go away. I love the look of the shoes and get lots of compliments on them.

The leather is so stiff it’s almost impossible to put on.

London; SUEDE; All-leather; Taupe; 46; Regular; Standard footbed; 2020. Purchased direct from Birkenstock, so FYI. I have numerous pairs of Londons now. This is one of the first instances of Birk offering London in all-suede. The leather used for this model as received *from Birkenstock* is _much_ thinner than suede Boston model; nubuck London model, and shiny/untreated leather of black & brown London and Boston models. I'm disappointed at the thinness of this leather. It is in one regard very comfortable *like a supple glove* BUT is not robust like other sued Birks that I have had for _YEARS_. In another model this would feel like a fashion choice with more delicate/boutique materials, but *nothing else has changed* about this otherwise CLUNKY shoe design. There's nothing slim, quick, or (more) elegant about this London. It's the same looking oil tanker it has been forever. So, must conclude it's Birkenstock adapting cost-cutting measures without saying so to customers. Would love to hear observations from others. Have had dozens of Birks over decades, this is the first where it felt like I bought a pair where lasting-for-a-decade didn't matter to the manufacturer.

I wear a standard-width 39 in in multiple styles of Birkenstocks. These were very narrow (and I don't think I chose "narrow" I think the only choice was "standard") and the arch support felt like it was WAAAy to far forward. They run very small. I might try to re-order in a size 40 to see if that makes a difference.

Birkenstock London - I owned a pair of Boston Clogs in suede and loved them. When they wore out I decided to go with the London. Big mistake! I have had this shoe for about a year now. Granted I don't wear them too often but the leather still doesn't 'look' broken in. In the beginning they were INCREDIBLY hot and sweaty! With socks they made my feet smell bad (this isn't usually a problem for me either)! If I didn't wear socks it was the same thing and my feet still got sweaty. In my opinion, it was my $ down the commode. Don't spend your money on these. I recommend the Boston's!

Not the same as old Birks - I had to get these to replace my old shoes which are not made any longer, they are not easy to break in and are hot and sweaty. My old Birks were the mary jane style very similar to these and they never had to go through a break in period. I still wear the old one more than these new shoes.

I like the style. But it’s hecka HARD!!! I needed wide width shoes bec the outside of my foot is achy. The shoes looked wide enough. Nope. Toe box is wide enough. But the middle part was tight, squeezed my foot. The whole shoe from top to bottom was hard like a whole safety shoe. I have no time to break-in shoes. I need shoes to prevent my foot pain from worsening. I got it on Wednesday evening. Returned it next morning. Sorry Birkenstock. Your sandals worked fine. Sadly these shoes didnt.

There are so uncofortable, very hard , had to return them

This looked to be not authentic Birkenstock. The leather was very stiff and I actually had ordered the same style, different size from Birkenstock web site and the craftsmanship was CLEARLY differerent. The box was super beat up too, am wondering if that box had been returned before...

i have two older londons. this pair however has been updated for the worse. 1. the strap over the ankle is so short that its a full two notches too small to even buckle. i cant buckle around my ankle on the largest setting and i have very skinny ankles etc. its not even close. 2. the foot opening has been moved back on this version which results in someone having to unbuckle the shoe entirely to put on or off. 3. no toe bar in the footbed for some reason. bostons still seem to have the toe bar. 4. never noticed but its made in portugal. the quality still seems high. overall i couldnt even get my foot into the shoe without difficulty, the strap is min 2 buckle notches too short to even buckle on the largest setting. literally no way to buckle without punches new holes unstraped the shoe is true to length and width im confused how this isnt an issue for other buyers. my two older pair both had extra length on the strap, both had toe bars and both could be put on without unstrapping....

I wanted to love these shoes. I've been a Birkenstock purist for about 15 years. I've had three pairs of Bostons, and was excited to try out the London. I've also had great success with Zappos. When my package arrived and I put the shoes on, I notice that the left felt significantly tighter than the right. (My feet are the same size.) I've had some minor differences in Birkenstocks before, which have gone away with a little breaking in, so I decided to keep them. I've now been wearing the shoes for over a month, and the left shoe hasn't loosened up at all. I'm pretty bummed to say the least.

Very comfortable.

These are great shoes but they require some patience. I appreciate that they come stiff and needing some time to wear in - it is an indication of the quality of the materials involved. Hard to get on at first and squeaky. But it is worth the payoff once they’re conformed to your feet. Stylish as well and can be worn with just about anything!

I love these shoes but hate how much the heel slides and up and down when I walk. I even added padding to the heel to try to prevent this but it didn’t work. If I’m wearing long socks it’ll pull them down. (Yes I have the right size on)

I love the comfort of Birkenstocks but needed to return due to difficulty with putting shoe on. I have a high instep and would have to use a shoe horn to wear.

I like them, just need to break them in just like all Birkenstock’s.

These were a size larger for me so I returned them. I am considering buying another pair but sizing down a size

I've always wanted a pair of Birkenstocks but as a person who lives with disability, I have to have closed backed shoes and a lot of Birkenstock styles are open at the back. I love the London! It's super comfortable out of the box, fits well with a variety of socks and does not have a toe bar which is great for me as my toes don't lay completely flat. I bought a women's EU 40 which gave me enough room to be comfortable. I'll wear these for years to come, highly recommend!
