Love the shoes. Only thing, a perfect fit would be a 40 for the left foot and a 41 for the right. I was told that isn't possible. Oh well. I still love the shoes. Thanks.

This shoe fit great and was wide enough; however, I couldn't get past the hardness of the sole and can't imagine putting myself through the pain to make it comfortable. I stand on my feet for 8 hours a day and know my legs and feet would be killing me in this shoe.

So very comfortable right out of the box. Foot support might be better than sandals. Slightly disappointed that the oiled black is a "rough" surface and does not take a shine. Consider a size up from your usual Birkie size if you have long toes.

I like Birkenstock, but I am learning the unisex styles are a bit wider than the ones made for women, so ladies be aware! Even in a narrow, these were just too wide -- even with socks! Otherwise they are comfy and a great color. I normally wear a 10-10.5B and order a 41N in sandals and 42N for the closed-toed Birkies. I will stick to the ladies styles now!

I felt like it's hard to get the right size in these. One was just a tad too small and I was rubbing my toe against the front. The other just a bit too big and my foot floated around. Decided to keep the bigger ones. They're extremely comfortable if you have to stand around. I wouldn't do tons of walking in them as they're a little less comfortable to walk in than the sandles. As for looks, meh. Definitely not one of the better looking shoes out there but I didn't buy them for their looks.

Good for plantar fasciitis and morton's neuroma. I like these shoes - they do run wide, but all "regular" width Birkenstock are made this way. I really needed the extra width too and the arch support is pretty good - one of my feet has a very high arch and the other just has a high arch. These shoes don't aggravate my plantar fasciitis or morton's neuromas. Comfort-wise, they would be perfect if the inside was just a tiny bit softer. I really like them and will order another pair in a different color. I have the black ones and wear them to work with dress slacks long enough to cover the buckle - no one seems to have noticed. The heels do slip up and down a bit while walking so I wear knee high trouser socks with them. Regular cotton socks kept slipping down into the shoe but the knee highs stay put perfectly.

I've currently got three pair of Birkies and needed one for daily use in wet weather. Love the simple elegant style, and the overall comfort is great, but the heel is very loose so shoe will rub my heel raw in short time. Am returning.

I love these shoes! That is, after I trimmed the back down to the same level as the side dip, and trimmed the collar down to just above the cross strap. As they were, I could not get them on an off without using the very unforgiving buckle which causes you to stand on your head to remove or put on. Now they are perfect. I normally wear a 38 but ordered 39 as they are narrow which I did not know was available, and I wear with sox. Would be 5 stars if I had not had to alter.

So this is not a pretty pair of shoes but it helped my tendonitis and I wear it almost every day. I normally wear a size 6 and ended up with the size 5. It still seems a little large but I can wear two pair of socks which helps my foot even more.

This is a classic. I had several pair of the London before. The only weak point of this (and many other Birkenstocks) is the sole. The sole wears out before the rest of the shoes. I assume this is a built-in depreciation mechanism (and not a coincident). If you have the heel reinforced, they last much longer.

Not very attractive unless you like the traditional Birkenstock clog look. I found that a smaller size in these fit me best. Normally I wear a size 7 to 7 1/2 wide shoe. The classic Birkenstock 38 is just too long. The 37 is close to being too short but doable. The wide width of the classic regular Birkenstock insole is great for me. I would benefit from an even higher arch than this one but it's better than what one can get in most shoes.

I have been a huge Birkenstock person for many, many years. I can pretty much buy any shoe without trying on size because I am consistently a 38 narrow. This review is more for people who are like me, and can pretty much blindly buy because you know your size. However, because of the way the way the backing of the shoe seems to push the Achilles heel section forwards, my toes kept scrunching in the front of the shoe, there's no way I could "break in" the shoe backing to make it comfortable. I couldn't walk a few feet without discomfort. I've ordered the 39 narrow to exchange. Hopefully, this will work better. Otherwise, I will have to return both sizes, which will make me very sad because I was counting on these to be my "winter" Birks. :*(

I've worn Birkenstock sandals for years, but in the winter, I had to put up with sneakers that just didn't make it when I was on my feet all day. These are the most comfortable shoes I own, even if they are a bit clunky looking! Beware, though - the oiled leather stained my white socks.

Great investment -
This shoe pretty much saved my life. I have very wide feet, and it was extremely difficult to find a shoe that actually fit me. I wish they came in half sizes, but with an insole, the 8 fits fine. Thanks Zappos and Birkenstock!

Awesome for pregnancy!
I'm 7 months into my first pregnancy, and these are the only shoes I can wear that don't result in my feet and ankles swelling at the end of the day. They're a perfect width, and the arch support is wonderful - I'm still fairly comfortable on my feet at the end of a very long teaching day. They look great with my dress clothes, too.
My only minor complaint is that I have a black leather pair and a brown nubuck pair, both size 37 normal width, and the brown pair feels much bigger than the black pair. I compensate by wearing thicker socks with the brown pair, but it was odd - usually European sizings fit me exactly the same all across the board.

Birkenstock London, good in Boston too!
Great shoe, especially for those with a wide forefoot. The heel collapses as well for an ad hoc sandal for slip on off ease. It does not have immense heel cushioning. Great all around shoe that can pass unnoticed in the corporate elevator at work.
A little more padding and it would be a great city walking shoe as well, but without the padding, the heal blows out pretty quickly from pounding the pavement. But on the other hand its light, agile, and handles a puddle well, so quite adept at urban terrain.
The name London suits it well.
I'd also recommend:
They have another version with more cushioning, but it does not look as professional.

Great for Plantar Fasciitis -
I've suffered from plantar fasciitis for several years. Birkenstocks are now my favorite shoes - I can't believe I didn't try them sooner. I travel and walk a lot and these are now the only shoes I take. I bought the London because I loved my sandals, but needed something to wear in the wet and cold English winter. I usually wear a US 8, my Birk sandals are 39 N and perfect. London I ordered in 39 N and I think I would prefer the next size up. However, I'm usually between sizes in shoes.

Interesting Shoe -
I guess I need to grow into the Birkenstock London.
I bought them for a trip where I knew I'd need to do a lot of walking. I have narrow feet and a low arch so they were not so comfortable initially. However, the more I wear them the more I adjust to the contour of the shoe and all in all it's been a great experience. I hope to keep these shoes for a long while.

I live in my Birks and was looking forward to a pair that could live up to winter in the midwest. So far they are performing well, but are still very stiff. I don't recall my clogs taking so long to break in. I also developed blisters on the back of my ankles from where the leather rubs. Now that they are softening up a bit the blistering has subsided. I am a true size five and always order a 35 narrow in Birkenstocks. These shoes fit perfectly-they just need lots of breaking in.

This is my first pair of Birks. After a year in Danskos and falling in them numerous times, I wanted something flatter. These are... but not quite as comfortable as I was hoping. I really loved the way Dansko's felt, they just weren't safe for me. Recently went for 5 days in San Fran and had few foot issues. My heels hurt a bit, and occasionally my ankles. Anyway, I'll be wearing these for a good year and hopefully will become a convert. Cute. Price was so high.

This was probably not a good choice for my first pair of birkenstocks. I liked the footbed. However the top is made of really stiff leather which was very painful on my feet, rubbing at the top and side. I have pretty wide feet and maybe could have used a wider width. I felt that I could not commit to the level of breaking in that would be required to make these shoes comfortable. And they are expensive so I couldn't really take the risk that they might not be comfortable even after breaking in. I will probably try a different style because I did like the footbed.

I had never tried this Birkenstock style before. They are definitely wide enough for my feet, bunions and all. Unfortunately, I ordered them one size too large so I can't really tell how they fit. I will reorder. Thank you, Zappos, for your prompt shipping.

I want oiled leather. But they sent me suede.
Possibly my fault. But I am sending back. Will have to wait until they have my NARROW size in oiled leather.
And that could be a long wait.

I have several pairs of Birkenstock sandals which I love and wear a lot during warmer months. I had high hopes for this shoe-style Birkenstock for winter. But, the leather was very stiff, I needed a shoe horn to get them on, and - though I had ordered my usual size - the contoured footbed did not fit the bottom of my feet. Sadly, these are going back. I will stick to Birkenstock sandals.
