I love these shoes: the style the fit the comfort. The only complaint is that the sole wore out after 2 years of wear! How do I replace the sole? The rest of the shoe is fine!

Have shopped at Zappos for years. Very consistent. Receive purchase when they say. Returns are very easy. Birkenstocks are the most comfortable shoe on the planet. I wear these shoes around my home, to give my feet a break from wearing work boots all day. I have a high arch and my feet and back tend to get sore if I don't have good support. You will find relief with thus brand of shoe. It does take about a month for your feet to mold the cork insole. After that, ahhhh what a relief! I have found ordering Birks a 1/2 size larger is your best bet.

I am having a heartbreaking Birkenstock experience. I have worn a 39 in sandals as a teen and now I wear a 40 Narrow. I bought these to replace my Bonn clogs because the "Silky suede" material is cheap fabric glued to quality leather (Why Birkenstock?) and the fabric layer peeled off within a couple months of owning them. I ordered the 40 Narrow in the Paris and they were way too short, my foot was smashed against the front, even though I have several sandals in a 40N and a pair of Boston clogs in a 40N. I wear an 8.5 or a 9. Never a 9.5. Ever. I tried the 41N to see if this was better. Huge! I decided to try the less cute London to see if the Paris was just cut weird. Nope. Toes smashed again. How is this possible that the 40's are way to small and the 41's are ridiculously gigantic? I wanted these shoe to work out. I have no idea what is up with the fit on these.

I have diabetes with some nerve damage from prescription medications. These shoes are comfortable and allow me to walk comfortably 3-6 miles daily. What I especially like is the ridge by the toe area that allows full flex of foot while walking.

Nothing beats Birkenstock for comfort. Period. They do not make the Alton leather clog anymore but this is a nice substitute.

I love these shoes. I've had a pair for over 10 years now, exactly like the ones pictured, and wear them whenever I wear black dress shoes. I appreciate the comfort for music performances. One of my friends getting ready for a cantata at Christmas (maybe as many as 8 years ago)said, "I didn't know which shoes I'd wear tonight, but I figured Susan would be wearing her ugly shoes, so I might as well be comfortable."In the ten years, we've had them half-soled once, when the sole wore down to the cork in the back. They're still going strong.

You don't even have to wear socks during the winter for these leather shoes to keep feet your feet warm. For someone who has a narrow heel they may be a tad loose in the back. It was uncomfortable at first since they constantly would slip off my heel, but after I got used to it these shoes became even more comfortable. As far as looks go, they aren't the most stylish shoe, but its fairly easy to make them stylish with the proper outfit. The brown looks especially rich and can be worn dresses up or casual. Overall if your feet ache day in and day out, spend the money...it's worth it.

Zappos size chart is incorrect for this shoe. My son wears a size 10 1/2, which Zappos list as a size 43. When the shoe came it was too small and said size 10/43on the box. We had to go up to a 44 for size 10 1/2.

I have worn Birkenstock sandals for years and always dreaded the coming of the cold when I had to give up my beloved Birks. I finally decided to get some Birkenstock "real shoes" this year and I couldn't be happier. They feel just like my sandals, but I can wear them even when the weather is cold or rainy. They are perfect! Who cares if they are stylish - my feet don't hurt after standing all day long. I like them so much I decided to get another pair in black.

I love these shoes! They look and feel wonderful. Comfortable, wide space for my toes and they fit my very wide feet just perfectly. The only negative is you have to open the buckle to get them over your heel.

These are great sturdy shoes. Be warned, if you have never worn Birkenstocks before the shoes are heavily contoured and stiff and quite painful until you break them in and get your feet to adjust to them. After that though, they are very comfortable.

I got these for work at a restaurant. They are beautiful well made shoes as everyone else has said and the leather ages wonderfully, but the sizing is very very tricky if you are not used to birkenstocks or need a reality check on what position your feet should be in inside a shoe. This is my second pair of birkenstocks. My first were open toed Arizona sandals which I got in a 38, as I am 7.5 in sandals and usually an 8 in boots. All of my shoes are 7.5-8 regular width, although I am thin so my feet are kind of skinny (but not narrow in actual shape). In this shoe however, the 38 turned out to be too small, although I thought they fit great at first. After several wearings I could feel that the footbed was just not lining up with the contours of my foot and it was painful, I could feel the toe bar pressing on my fascia with no room for me to engage in this so called gripping motion, or room for warm socks. My foot felt like it was sitting too far back in the shoe. I thought, how is this possible as everyone says these run large and I got my true size? Well, I disagree that they run large if you are sizing for the actual footbed as you should (bc this is the most important part for comfort). For me, getting my "boot size" worked better. My advice is to focus on the placement of your foot on the footbed and notice how it moves and engages with the toe bar (if it presses the bottom of your foot it is too small), not how loose the shoe feels. When I read a review (or see someone in a shoe on the street) where you can clearly see they sized down in a birkenstock it just makes me cringe picturing their foot jammed in there putting pressure on all the wrong spots and destroying the cork before its time. I returned them for a 39 and the footbed feels great, while the shoe part is slightly loose (would fit better if I was a man or had more fat on my feet). As it is, I wear them with thick wool socks bc it is winter and the problem is mostly solved. Half sizes would be even better, or a size where the footbed is the same but the top part has less leather, like a slim version or something. The shoe is a CLOG however, and fits like one, I flip flop around but I don't slosh around IN them. For vanity considerations, yes they do make your feet look large but I think the elven quality is kind of charming. Plus, as my sister says, "why should we pretend our feet are smaller than they are?" If you work at a certain type of restaurant you may find it hard to pair them with your more girly outfits, I just go for skinny jeans and a blouse and embrace my inner euro hippy. Everything everyone says about Birkenstocks is true if you can find your correct size. Don't get narrow unless you are actually narrow, then your baby toes hit the edge and there should be a little space all around your foot. Better than Danskos, IMO (too restricting in toe area, no flexibility of the sole, can cause falls and bunions, baby your feet too much). PS this is Zappos! Order a million sizes and work it out, you are worth it!

These are some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. Even better, I've found that they can be repaired/resoled, just like my Birkenstock sandals! I have plantar fascia and walk quite a bit every day with the dog, and this is the first shoes I've owned that prevent howling feet at the end of the day. When I first got them, they weren't really my style (I've never owned clogs or anything), but I have to say they're growing on me.

These were my first pair of London's, but not my first pair of Birkenstocks. They are awesome. I debated between the soft and regular footbeds (I have Birkenstocks with both), but went with the hard one. There are strong opinions on which is better, and honestly I think they both have merits. The soft one doesn't require a break in period. But I think once broken in, they're equally comfortable. My one tiny irritation with the oiled leather: it bleeds. Badly. Like, turns my feet/socks completely black and it's hard to get off, especially my bare feet. But I prefer the way oiled leather ages, so it's a compromise. There's also so much debate in Birkenstock sizing, but I -- 100% of the time -- wear a 44; and I'm 100% of the time a US men's 11. I've owned many Birks, too. As for the style, I think they get a bad rap because they conjure hemp, tie-dye and other style infractions. You don't have to be that person. I am not a hippie and I have deep love for these shoes. In terms of comfort, they are in a league all their own. And there's nothing stopping you from wearing them with stylish clothes.

These ran a bit large -- I wear a 7.5 wide and a 36 was the right fit. In the end, I didn't have the patience to break them in so I returned them. Recommending by my podiatrist for high arches.

Zappos was great and I got the order in a much shorter amount of time (1 day!) than the 4-5 day estimate. These shoes were a doozy to properly fit, however, be warned. I am a long time Birkenstock wearer. I ave a pair or Birkenstock Paris, bought in 1997 and still going strong. I have another pair of Florida sandals that fit my feet like a glove. For both, I wear a 39 wide (or regular, following Birkenstock terminology). However, these London (made in 2014) in the Habana Oiled fit totally small! I tried on the 39 wides (regular) which were too small. Tried the 40 wides (regular), too big. Decided to try the London 40 narrows on a whim and they fit perfectly! I had tried on another version of Birkenstock Londons at a local dealer (didn't have it in this oiled leather) but it must've been some kind of older stock because the 39 regulars fit met, as expected. I don't know if these Birkenstock professional series fit a little funny or or if the 2014 versions are off somehow but you've been warned about the sizes, people. Now that I've found the right size, I do love them and never want to take them off.

Have patience breaking them in! Afjust the buckle strap periodically during breaking in period. Wear indoors at first then outdoors for increasing amounts of time. Takes time to get comfortable fit.

Hoping these would be as comfortable as my sandals, not even close. On my left foot which is smaller shoe was loose on tightest strap setting. On right foot the opposite, way to tight on loosest setting. The reason I bought from Zappos, easy returns.

I have purchased Birkenstocks before at Zappos, a sandal, and have been very pleased both with the shoe itself and the fit. I have heel pain and the arch support soothes this problem. I wear these shoes with socks and there is plenty of room.

I am not new to Birkenstocks. This is my eighth pair, this is my first pair of closed shoes. I am breaking them in before I wear them to work (12 hour shifts as a CNA) they feel good already. I had back surgery 10 years ago Birks were the only thing that made me feel stable on my feet. I now need knee, foot, and ankle support these do just that. Birks may not be the cutest shoes but who cares as you get older you trade cute for comfort. You just cannot go wrong with Birkenstocks I am still a big fan. After the molding period, about one month for some people they will be your favorite shoes.

Love the shoes. Only thing, a perfect fit would be a 40 for the left foot and a 41 for the right. I was told that isn't possible. Oh well. I still love the shoes. Thanks.

What can you say about them. If you wear Birkenstock you know they are the best. I have several pair. They are the only brand I wear for work. Stand all day for 10 + hours and the shoes always are better than the rest.

Beautifully constructed robe but the fabric is substandard for this brand and price. Normal wear resulted in multiple pulled threads dangling from the front and sleeves of the robe within one week! Looks tacky. If I still had the packing I would return it. Not a good value.
