Just received these boots and they seem very comfortable; I think I will love them like I do the Newport sandal and boot. I ordered an 8.5 to compensate for hiking socks, but returned them for a 9.5. They allow for the thickness of the sock. Unusual size for my usual 7.5-8 sized feet. Thank you Zappos for lightening speed delivery.

I've worn Keen shoes for years because I love their roomy toe boxes and how well they accommodate my high arches. When I needed waterproof boots for a hiking trip I ordered a pair of Targhee IIs believing they would fit like the rest of my Keens. Not so! Everything about these boots was too narrow and too low. I exchanged them for a larger pair but they were merely longer, not wider or higher. I finally had to go with a men's boot to get that familiar, oh-so-comfy Keen fit. If you're used to wearing old school women's Keens, these boots may not work for you.

I can't say I look at these shoes and think "they're so cute!" but most of the reviews I've read did say they were comfortable. So I ordered a pair. I usually wear an 8.5 (New Balance and Merrells) but in these I ordered up a half size and my toes touched the end of the shoe which I wasn't going to endure so I went to a 9.5 and they fit. For me the Targhee with the extra stuff in the shoe to make it waterproof also made it smaller-as I have since bought the Keen voyageur and it is plenty big in a size 9. I will say for traction this is the BEST shoe I've ever worn. Walking up steep mtn slopes on wet grass and loose rocky soil. I've always bought shoes with toe bumpers which on other brands came unglued. I haven't had these Keen's long enough to report on that. This will be the only shoe I buy from now on and my toes are very happy about that.

My first pair of Keens. Does run .5 size small, but I knew this so mine fit perfectly. Definitely waterproof over the toe. They broke in fairly quickly and have a strong sole. Good height for someone who wants higher than a sneaker, but not too tall. I’m a big fan.

Keen shoes are the BEST if you're doing any traveling or outdoorsy stuff. I bought a pair of these 2 years ago, and I wore them on our 17 mile Yosemite Half Dome hike. Pretty brutal hike that REQUIRES you to have good shoes. All I can say is at 16.5 miles, thank goodness the only thing that didn't hurt were my feet. Unfortunately, I lost the first pair that I wore on the hike, so I bought these. I can honestly vouch for these shoes b/c the first pair I had that I wore on the hike were kind of snug, and I had no choice to wear them b/c they didn’t have my size anywhere. This new pair I bought a half size bigger. But considering they didn't fit me perfectly the first time, and it survived me through that ordeal...don't see how you can go wrong with these shoes.

I ordered these shoes 1/2 size larger than my normal size and they fit perfectly. They are extremely comfortable and really cute. I have had a difficult time with comfort in other more expensive shoes and am thrilled with how cozy these are. Would definitely order more Keen boots/shoes.

This is my second pair of Keen's Targhee II Mid boot. They made the trip to Yosemite's Half Dome nicely. True to size given that I wear heave Smart Wool socks.

I read the reviews and bought a half size bigger and well, it is a little too big. But these are very comfortable, terrific hiking shoes, spent a day in the woods with them, and felt great!

Keen Targhee II Mid -
If you wear a 6 1/2 normal shoe size, but wear a 7 in a Newport H2, you will need a 7 1/2 if you wear a medium weight sock with this shoe.
I ordered the 7 and my toe hit the front edge of the shoe. I ordered the 7 1/2.

I love these boots!!
I love these boots. I tried 6 other pair of hiking boots also. These and the Merrill Moab Ventilator were the only ones that were comfortable right away. I decided on the Keens because they were more weather resistant.
The first time I wore these, they were even more comfortable at the end of my hike than they were the beginning. Which is really unusual for me, because my feet tend to blister and get sore the first time I wear new shoes. But these feel awesome! I love them!! I've worn them a few times now. Today was able to see if they are really water proof. They are!

Great fit -
I wore these for an entire day immediately and they felt great and so did my feet at the end of the day. I took the advice of others and ordered a half size larger than usual. It worked.

These shoes have enough room for the bunion that was developing on my right foot. They have arch support. Regarding size, my foot measures a 6.5 and a size 6 in these fits perfectly. Oddly, the 6 in the low cut Targhee felt too large. I think the extra mass around the ankle being pulled around changes the feeling of the size... or else, the low cuts actually are bigger. These are good for walking, not for running, my laces are a bit shorter than most shoes would have them, but that hasn't been a big problem yet. They seem to be great for walking in the snow and rain.

Better than expected -
I think they look pretty cool. I’m pretty happy to wear them just about all the time, although they are a little bit difficult to get on/off quickly. It took me 3 pairs to find the right size. I usually wear a size 7.5-8, and I ended up getting a size 8.5 since I bought these primarily for winter day hiking with heavy socks. Now that I have the right size, they fit me perfectly- except for the ankle, which I’m not sure if it is just that I have never worn ankle boots before. They have good support and are nice and wide in the toe bed which is usually a problem for me. I would definitely recommend these boots to anyone who wants a cool boot that is functional as well

Comfortable hiker -
This hiking boot is super comfy and is particularly good for wider feet, as most Keens are. I wore this boot out to do errands one day, and then wore them next on a 5 mile hike with decent elevation climbs and was in total comfort. My only small complaint is that the cut-outs on the tongue combined with the thickness of the tongue, don't let you easily, or fully close-off that area of the boot. I think this is also partially because the front of the boot does not come that high up, so it feels like I wish the tongue was higher to the narrow part of my ankle or just pleated instead of the cut-outs.

Exceeds Expectations -
BELIEVE the reviews that say this shoe runs small. I wear 9.5 in dress/casual shoes but a 10 in athletic shoes and I had to get this boot in a 10.5. That is where Zappos saves the day...not many retailers stock that size in multiples. As for comfort...I have even begun wearing these guys around the house because I am so in love with the all-around support. The laces stay tied without a double knot, too. I haven't put them to work on a trail, yet, but I don't anticipate any problems. They felt great during my recent city hiking in San Francisco and along the rocky shores of Northern California. They are not listed in the waterproof shoe pages but waterproofing is listed on the product description...I'm not sure how well these are intended to do in snowy/icy conditions, but I don't have many opportunities to put them through that kind of test. As always, Keens are comfortable right out of the box.

Keens Targhee II Mid -
Great boot! Looks good... Feels good. Felt comfortable from day one, very little break in. The nicest boot I have ever owned. I normally wear between a 7 and 7-1/2; I needed an 8 in this. I love these boots!

Nice little boot -
I went by the suggestions to order a 1/2 size smaller than my "usual" size, so I ordered an 8.5. According to the folks at Roadrunner, my feet are a 7 and a 7.5 with a narrow heel. I also wear orthotics for arch support. The insole of this boot was the exact same size of my orthotic, a 9B in most women's athletic shoes. I wear them w/o their insole, with just my orthotic.
These feel good on my feet. I plan to wear them for light hiking and working around the garden with a fairly lightweight sock. They seem to have plenty of toe room and don't rub on my heel, one of my common problems.
I didn't break them in, just wore them around, since they seemed to be the correct size. I'm very happy with them!

This would be a comfortable boot, but unfortunately for me, it is not wide enough. I thought Keen shoes usually ran wide which is what other reviewers have said about them, but this one does not.

Targhee II Mid -
This shoe has little or no arch support, unlike my other Keens. I love Keens in general - extremely durable and well constructed- but this is my least favorite Keen. A general improvement in all the Keen shoes would be to put the model name somewhere on the shoe; it can be impossible to replace a beloved worn-out pair with no reference in the shoe itself.

Best shoes ever -
I love this shoe! Originally bought for a trip to Germany in the winter, I now wear them all the time. They are surprisingly cute for hiking boots, and soft but supportive. Being susceptible to cold, I really like the way they keep my feet warm, even without wool socks. Sometimes I use them like slippers, they're that comfortable. I bought a half-size larger than usual to accommodate thick socks which works well.

Keen Targhee II -
Super comfortable for hard to fit feet like mine. These boots have a great cushion and terrific traction. Order 1/2 size larger as everyone has suggested for they do run small. I'm not sure if I would wear them hiking as they don't have quite enough ankle support for my taste. One complaint - after wearing them almost constantly for 2 years (late fall, winter, early spring), they are beginning to fall apart at the seams (I didn't expect them to fall apart so quickly) and I've had to re-order a new pair.

Old feet aren't what they used to be -
It is getting harder and harder to find a shoe that is comfortable and my feet don't wobble in the shoe as I walk. Zappos customer service said I need a shoe that has an ESS shank that provides torsional stability for a secure walk. These shoes provided that. I like others had to buy a half size larger and wear medium thickness socks. These shoes also do not cause my small toes to be pinch and cut off circulation because of the boxed toe. The first order I got my regular size 9 and the left fit but not the right. So returned them and got a nine and half and were perfect. As far as the warmth, have no trouble since it gets 10-25 below zero here 4 to 5 months out of the year. Love the way the shoe strings tie up on top and they stay put.

Great Hiking shoe. Comfortable, keeps feet dry in wet and muddy conditions. Great support even on rocky terrain. I usually have a hard time finding shoes to fit, as I take a small size (5). However, I took the advise of others and ordered a 1/2 size larger. The boots fit great.

Fantastic shoe, but order a ½ size up. I own three other pairs of Keens, all in the same size, but had to go up a half-size in this one. It’s water-resistant and comfy.
