Best all around hiking shoe; I've had Merrells, Vasque and Montrail but these are so good I bought a few pair since I hike 800+ miles/year

These hiking boots are fantastic. The fit is spot-on with very good support and better than the Merrell's I tried. Keen knows how to make comfortable shoes. I have three other pairs of Keens. I typically wear an 8.5, but the 9s fit perfectly.

First, I want to thank all previous reviewers who greatly helped me make my first online shoe purchase. Sure beats driving all over and settling for 2nd, 3rd, or 4th choice because that is all that is available in the area. As others suggested, I ordered a size larger (9 to 9.5) and they are a great fit with medium weight socks with plenty of toe room. They look really neat on - high tech without making my feet look humongous. In person, without the photographic lighting and bright computer display, the contrast color and webbing are more muted than in the pictures - a good thing. These shoes are really easy to put on and take off; just loosen the top lace. They do need some soft cushioning around the ankle for a closer fit to prevent rubbing the ankle bone. They have a noticeable new tire scent, but they come in a nice sturdy box you can use to store them so your closet doesn't smell like a garage. Although they are wearable right out of the box, I had a pseudo break-in period of two days wearing them around the house, mainly to try different socks and lacing tensions, and to just look at them before taking them out into the big dirty world. I'm keeping them.

On this hiking boot, I followed the suggestion of ordering a 1/2 size larger. Unheard of. I am glad I did, because they are perfect. On the low cut shoe from the same brand, I ordered my usual size...also perfect. I do like perfect.

These shoes are great. Comfortable with no breaking in required. I've purchased them for a trip to Alaska in July 2011, so I have time to get used to them but they've been comfortable from the start. I normally take an 8 but needed a 9 in these.

I appreciated the wide toe box. I have a bad toe and these shoes enabled me to hike again. They are so comfortable.

I really like these boots. I have not done any long hikes but I have been on my feet all day and they feel great. I normally buy an 8 in tennis shoes and I did the same here, which gives me enough room to wear wool socks with them. My favorite part is that they are not tight in the toes like most other types that I have tried. Good all around hiker!

Super cute and comfy from the moment I opened the box. I wear them almost everyday.True to size and they feel and LOOK great! The insole could be more supportive but I just switched out the insoles with another pair of Keens!

I put these on with no breaking in and completed a 16 mile round trip day hike up to Halfdome in Yosemite. By the end of the hike, everything was sore except my feet! That was first real hike, and I couldn't have made a better choice. It took a couple of exchanges to get the sizing right; they run quite a bit smaller than I thought. Overall, very comfortable, lightweight, and durable.

I absolutely love these boots. I tried on several pair, and these were the most comfortable. They fit my narrow heel but wider forefoot really well. I had to go up a whole size though. I normally wear a 8 to 8 1/2 dress shoe, size 9 running shoe.

These boots are fantastic! I took them straight out of the box and wore them for two 5 hour, 2,500 feet in elevation hikes in 3 days! I crossed small creeks, scrambled over rocks, and balanced on logs 10 feet in the air and these boots handled all of it magnificently! My only mild complaint would be I wish these came in a cuter color option, but hey you are hiking not going out to dinner.

I actually got this shoe one size larger than I normally wear. I like to wear thick socks and this way my toes do not hit the front on the downhill. I would recommend to get at least 1\/2 size larger. The shoe is very comfortable right out of the box.

These shoes are comfortable right out of the box. I have not used them for hiking yet so I'll return later and share that experience. I usually wear a 7.5 but I purchased a size 8 and I'm glad I did. A 7.5 would have pressed my toes to the end of the shoe toe bed and that would have been bad. I think they are light weight so much so that I danced around in them, really I did. The color is fabulous. I purchased the gray and green ones. The color of the shoes are actually darker than the photo. I think these shoes feel more like sneakers that boots which is OK by me because I plan on doing light weight trail hiking. They will keep your feet and toasty and dry. I would recommend these to my friends.

I absolutely love these! Even in swampy conditions my feet stayed dry and warm. The arch support is great, and the ankle support is good considering it is just a mid.

I LOVE my new Targhee II hiking boots! I bought them to hike the volcanoes on the Big Island and they were terrific. I bought a half size larger than my regular size, which was perfect. The wide toe of this shoe was very comfortable.

I read most of the reviews before I ordered and as a result, ordered a 10.5 instead of a 10. I'm glad I did, the fit is perfect. I concur with the comments about the back of the boot rubbing against your ankle. I was going to a park a fair distance away - 30 minute drive - and was wearing the boots while driving. By the time I got home, the back of my right ankle was very sore. Next time, I'm wearing comfortable shoes for the drive, and changing once I get there! Otherwise, very happy with the boot quality, fit, look. Having big feet, I'm especially enamored with shoes that make my feet look smaller and the styling in the front really is attractive. The extra protection around the toe is also excellent, since I'm one of those people who scuffs the toes of her shoes easily. I love the gray/green color combination and have gotten a lot of compliments on the styling. I agree that the boot keeps your feet pretty warm, so I'll just deal with it in the heat of the summer. All in all, a great boot that I plan to keep as long as it holds up!

Absolutely LOVE my new Keen Targhee II's!! Tried them on tonight with wool socks after receiving them today and I haven't taken them off, they're so comfortable! This is my 6th pair of Keen's; I have sandals, everyday shoes, and now boots. I have Morton's Neuroma (nerve tenderness in the toes near the ball of the foot) in both feet so I need a wider toe box in my shoes - these definitely fit the bill, as do my other Keens! Very easy to lace up and tie the laces without losing the snug tie and don't have to double tie the laces. I got the Laurel Oak/Deep Sea color, which looks slightly different in different lighting, from a light brown to a soft army green, but no problems there. Very lightweight and no ankle rub. I normally wear Size 7 1/2 to 8 (usually 8) and I got these in Size 8 - they fit great and not too small as some reviewers stated. Good medium arch support. And thank you to Zappos for getting them to me in record time, even though I chose the standard shipping!

I love this hiking boot. My boyfriend and I have bought these in Men’s/Women’s and they feel great. We went on a 4.5hr hike the first time we wore them and they were comfy right out of the box - no blisters or hot spots. Great shoe for the money!

I have been looking a long time for a comfortable hiking boot that I can depend on and this boot is great. I am a big fan of Keen shoes and sandals. If you get a half size larger than your regular size, they are perfect. Hardly any break-in time and when you get home you don't feel like you have to take your shoes off because they are so comfortable. I love ordering from Zappos because you have time to decide and can easily send anything back for no charge. I liked the Targhee II Mid also because I needed a waterproof shoe.

Before my recent trip to Costa Rica, I tried on several brands and sizes of hiking boots, and these Keens were a clear winner. They were comfortable from the first and required no breaking in at all; on the trail I looked down a couple of times at my feet and was surprised to see them! They were so comfortable that I forgot I was even wearing hiking boots! They are wonderfully lightweight, also. I have wide feet and normally wear an 8 1/2 W, which allows for hiking socks. In these Keens I ended up with a 9M. If you have wide feet, these are definitely the hiking boots for you. Based on my experience, I suggest ordering a half-size larger than your normal boot size.

Awesome shoes! I usually don't like shoes that cover my ankle but was looking for some extra support while hiking. There was no problem with these! I didn't even notice they were above my ankle and definitely gave me the extra support I was looking for! I wore them in Utah at arches and Bryce in March. Kept my feet warm and dry! Even after snowshoeing two hours in Bryce! Keen does it again. Felt they are true to size.

I was about to go on my first snow shoe trip and was mortified to find my hiking boot soles were coming apart. After duct taping them and enjoying the snow shoeing experience, I made plans to go again the following weekend. After spending most of my Sunday trying to locate waterproof size 10 boots in the usual stores, I came away empty handed. I decided to go on line and shop. After browsing the Zappos website, I called customer service and had great help finalizing my decision. The Keen Targhee II boots arrived two days later in plenty of time to try them on, find them perfect, and go snow shoeing that weekend. I am very satisfied with the Keen product, the excellent Zappos customer service and the condition of the snow around Mount Hood! (In my experience, Keen's run about a half size small. I wear a 9.5 and the 10 was perfect.) Thank you.

These boots are the best I've ever worn. They are a perfect fit around the heel, but roomy around the toe. Also, the way the upper rear of the boot dips down, means they don't dig into the back of my calf. I've tried no less than 50 pairs of boots and these were by far the most comfortable. They are worth every penny. I loved them so much; I bought a second pair, just in case they discontinue that style. I love that they come in an array of colors.

I love the Keen Targhee II Mid. They are my second pair. I hike daily in them under different weather conditions and my feet stay dry. I wear an 8 1/2, but I buy a size 9 in the Keens. Also, thank you for having them on my door steps the next day after ordering; that is really cool.
