I bought the Mephisto Sam Sandals for my son and he loves them. They are his second pair. Great!

I bought my first pair of Sams in five years ago. I wanted to make sure they were worth the money first, so I found a used pair of brown ones for a cheap price. I liked them so much that I immediately bought four brand new ones (one in each color). The funny thing is that I still wear that first pair (the used ones) almost every day, and they still have a lot of wear left! They seem to get more comfortable every day, and I am planning on getting the first pair re-soled if and when they ever wear out since the leather is even softer than the new pair. I have tried many different sandals, but I am happiest with these, and I recommend them to everyone!

Bought these to wear with my linen suit for a (sub)tropical wedding in Key West, and to wear them the rest of the honeymoon week. They are very comfortable, as other reviews state. The leather straps didn't chafe (was worried about that). And the front straps even protected my toes during a little dust up on my moped. The brochure in the package says to make sure you have some space around the foot, which would be good to know ahead of time. But mine fit true to size (ordered 44cm instead of 45 since I knew wouldn't wear socks). Just hope they wear well for the price.

Nice brown sandals. Dress up or casual but the straps are tough to use. I guess I got used to Velcro and finding the holes is a pain.

Very nice sandal overall, but would have preferred velcro closure.

Before purchasing these one of the reviews said these fit more like a glove than a sandle. I completely agree with that statement. They are very comfortable, good quality, and they look good. My only issue is the price.

I love this sandal. BUT. Water washed into the boat and got them wet. After that they had a very bad moldy smell. I threw them away. I have never had a shoe of any kind do that. I would like to buy another pair, but i am afraid it might happen again. They are too expensive to toss out again.

My husband loves the comfort of the "Sam," as well as all Mephisto's. These shoes are attractive and appear to wear well. Only negative is buckle, which is difficult due to small size.

Nice shoe, however, considering the price which is considerably higher than most in the same category, the sizes are not consistent. They are very comfortable and when the soles are worn, Mephisto will re-sole. The service is not free, it's about 90.00. The only part of the sandal that's not replaced is the leather. They do a great job.

The right shoe was to wide and the left was perfect.

These did not work for me; I have a high arch and could barely get strap to fasten. When I walked all you could hear was squeak, squeak, squeak. Really loud and annoying (we have no carpet).

Could not access buckle easily. Too hard to bend leg enough to put them on. Only tried left sandal to judge fit.

No arch support.... Excellent for those who don't need a high art support on this style..

I ordered my third pair of Sams and discovered a very unpleasant surprise. The new pair of size 44 Sams were slightly over 1" shorter and ¾" narrower than the pair I currently own (purchased in 2007). I put my current and new pair sole to sole and got out a tape measure to make sure. I felt like I had slipped on really painful ballet shoes instead of the awesome Mephisto sandals that I have owned continuously for nine years. I am not sure what is going on but the difference is astonishing and I have to return them.

I did not like its feel and fitting so returning.
