I love the way these sandals look and the arch support they provide but I can't wear them without tremendous pain. These shoes have given me terrible pain in my knees and heels. I wish I could make them work but I also like a life pain free! I find I supinate and have flat feet so maybe that combo doesn't work well with chacos. I wish I could make these work but I'll be sending them back.

I gave these 3 stars because they might work excellently for someone with less difficult feet. My feet are incredibly large (12 to 12w). I purchased these in a 12 and the toe hole was too small...my circulation was cutting off. The other straps were just a little tight, a 12w probably would have been okay. They are long in the front and not very flexible (heavy, molded sole), so I'm not sure how comfortable they'd be to walk in for a long period of time.

I have had two pair of these for several years now. Pros: -They last forever, an advantage for sure but I really want a new pair of another style but I can not justify it when the others have not worn out. -After 5+ years of regular summer wear, the straps are just now starting to fray, but only slightly. -The soles are in amazing shape with very little wear. -Great shoe for water use. -You can fiddle with the tightness of the straps, it gets easier as you break them in -Decent looking -Great arch support and wide base for stability. Cons: -My feet do feel sore after wearing them for a full day, there is no spring or give in the sole. -When they are wet, the webbing tightens up and pinches -The straps tightened around the toe a lot at first and still do from time to time -The straps at the heel where it inserts into the sole chafes on wide feet -smells - dirt and grime collect in the crevasses but I hose them off. So good for outdoor action but not great for slip on out and about shoes. I like them but am ready for something new.

I already own a pair of Chaco Fantasias and love them, so I was excited to receive these shoes. I really liked the strap style and color; however when i put them on I immediately realized the footbed was different than my Fantasias. It felt smaller overall--shorter and tighter. The footbed is molded narrower around the heel, especially where the back straps are attached to the sole, and it rubbed uncomfortably on the sides of my heel. There was not as much slack to adjust the straps, either, although that might have loosened up a little with wear. Overall just not comfortable due to the different footbed. Very disappointed. Returned them and got another pair of Fantasias with different strap colors. Thank goodness for free returns and excellent Zappos customer service. Why do manufacturers think they have to change the footbed every year? Merrell did the same thing to the comfy sandals I used to order from them and now they are too small and narrow. I need to start hoarding shoes that I like.

I've wanted these shoes for a long time and I am hoping they will feel better after i wear them for awhile. They are not sexy and I feel like a clodhopper in them.

These were ridiculous. I am sure they could be comfortable if you have the patience to screw around with the straps. I cannot return these fast enough. That is too bad because they were very cute.

I have a love/hate relationship with this shoe. I LOVE the look of them. They look great with almost anything. They are super cute for switching between casual and semi-dressy. I HATE them due to the difficulty in adjusting the straps and they have a break in period so most people cannot wear them straight out of the box. I would recommend maybe a more user friendly version of this shoe if you are considering your first pair of Chaco sandals.

I've had a rough time with these sandals. I really wanted to love them, and for rugged sandals I still think they are pretty cute. However, I've had constant problems with the fit. The arch in the sole just doesn't quite match up with the arch in my foot, though the shoes are otherwise the perfect width and length, so I've had issues with blistering on my soles. Also, I have to readjust the straps after every time I wear them (and sometimes while wearing them), and it's very difficult with the extra band around the toe and the thinner double straps. I had hoped that I would be able to adjust them once and then be done, but the fit just doesn't hold, and with the many straps the readjust is prone to error and a lot more time-consuming than I'd like, since I bought them for camping and hiking and have to take them on and off when I'm in and out of the tent. I'd try another pair of Chaco sandals in the future, but one with a single strap and without the extra toe band (though I don't think I'd find them as cute as these).

I ordered these sandals because of all the awesome reviews and I have to say, I'm completely confused. These sandals are so heavy. It felt like I had ankle weights on. Maybe I should keep them. :) They felt great on my feet until I lifted them to start walking. No thanks. Had to send them back.

I'm really disappointed with this shoe. Probably because I know someone who really lives in these shoes year 'round so I was expecting a lot from the get-go. The sizing seemed correct. I have a large, difficult to fit foot and the shoe mostly fit. But it tended to flop around on my feet because there was only one adjustment for the straps and that was back at the ankle. There was a lot of extra play at the toes that try as I might I just could not seem to get rid of. I really liked the styling and wish they fit better but back they go.

I too have had this shoe for several years. Want to love it. It is just plain uncomfortable. The textured bottom is irritating. I have bunions and calluses. I can adjust the straps to fit the bunion but after walking for a period of time, readjusting is necessary. Don't love try something else if the bottom of your feet are problematic.

These shoes look great, but feel heavy and inflexible when you put them on. The soles are too heavy for hiking or even casual beach wear. Chacos are pretty expensive, and I'm not going to pay that much for a shoe that's not comfortable.

This shoe is not good for hot and humid weather. There are too many straps and they all rub. I brought them on a trip to Bermuda and had to buy a pair of flip flops to wear because of the straps on this sandal. I do not suggest the strap around the toe, either. I spent a lot of time trying to adjust the straps to no avail. They look really cute, though. I wish I ordered the pair with less straps.

I took these shoes with me to Costa Rica over Christmas. We were in a jungle setting and we did a lot of hiking including through rivers. The toe strap proved to be very uncomfortable. Though the straps can be adjusted somewhat, they kept tightening up around my big toe and it was difficult to take them on/off. Also, the main strap is very long and when it was tightened to fit my feet, the strap hung down so much that it kept getting under my shoe. It didn't make me trip but it did get caught on sticks and branches. Not a great purchase. But it was a great trip!

I was hoping these were going to be the perfect summer hiking shoe and they would be if the toe straps didn\'t tighten quite so much. Also, they are difficult to adjust.

I love the arch support and the soles but this company doesn't seem to know how to size shoes. The regular are for a narrow foot, the wide are for a regular foot and different styles have different sizes. In their thongs I had to get a 9 which is two sizes larger than normal for me. These shoes were an 8 but were to long, however I'm thinking the 7 will be to narrow because the 8 wide is barely wide enough and I normally wear regular width. These shoes are also very rough on the bottom of my feet, like mild sand paper. I sent them back and I'm going to order something else. I wish Chaco knew how to size shoes because they make good soles.I'm a dog walker and so far I like the Teva tera fi 3 which doesn't have the major arch support but doesn't hurt the bottom of your foot, is great for shock absorbing, feels like walking on that material they make play grounds out of to break kids falls, it's squishy and great for your knees, back and feet.

I love the way the sandals look. Also, I needed a wide and the sizing\/fit is perfect. I am having difficulty with the straps though. I have to get the straps situated every time I put the sandals on, and even then by the end of the day\/night - they are cinched down on my toes again! I read that as you hike\/walk around in them, stuff will get in the holes and keep the straps in place. Stuff has got in the holes, and now I can\'t get the straps in the right place! They won\'t even move! Kind of frustrating. Also, I got these shoes because they were recommended for pronation, and my heels and Achilles\' have definitely started hurting since wearing them. \r\n

These shoes are adorable! I get a lot of compliments. However, the straps around the toe tighten as you walk throughout the day. They cut off my circulation! I have to readjust them often.

These sandals are very cute and have great arch support but I had the same problem as some other reviewers - the toe loops strangled my big toe. They are difficult and confusing to adjust and they would go back to strangling my big toe when I walked. I had to return them.

This is my first pair of Chacos. They were recommended by a friend that has plantar fasciitis (which I now have) as having great arch support. So far I like them; I wouldn't say that I love them. They are a little strange to get used to because you have to keep adjusting straps to fit your foot properly. The arch support is really good in these. The other Chacos seem to have a flatter foot bed so I don't know if the arch support is as good. They seem to fit true to size and are fairly wide.

Birkenstock's are still the best.

The straps look cool, but do they give me problems. They are continuous; the straps are really one long strap, going from around the ankle, over top of the foot, under the ball of the foot through the sole, over the big toe, under the big toe through the sole, over the big toe again, under the ball of the foot through the sole to the outside of the foot, and then over the foot meeting back at the ankle in one continuous loop. Confused? Try attempting to determine which side of which strap to pull in order to loosen the one that cuts off the circulation to the big toe. I’m not sure how these other reviewers hike in them; I can only wear them around casually. Trying to climb hills in them only causes me an endless cycle of loosening one strap only to cause the other to be too tight and trying in vain to find equilibrium. But they look cool.

Toe problem -
These were great - except that they strangled my toe. The straps kept on getting tighter as I walked, and it was just impossible to wear them. On the upside, the people at Chaco's were great about this - apparently it's a problem they've encountered before. First they tried to repair the shoes (they have some standard procedure that they say usually works), and when that didn't work they sent me a pair of the basic style (Z/1 or whatever) and they are great. No charge (except what I paid to send the shoes back to them).

Ouch!
Mine looked great, but the heel was way too small, and I have pretty thin feet. The two sides where the straps attached to the shoe were too thin and dug into my feet. Caution future Chaco buyers.

Didn't work for me. I need a lighter weight sandal with a flexible sole. These straps are adjustable, which would be great for my narrow feet but I need softer straps. I can imagine these sandals would work very well for most people. I have very picky feet.

Pain in my toe -
I bought these because everyone I know raves about the Chacos that they own. I chose this style because it looked just slightly more fashionable/feminine than the single strap. I regret my choice because the strap across the big toe slowly cinches down and cuts off my circulation as I walk. A friend of mine has the exact same complaint. Others Chaco owners have said that they solve this by just pulling the strap so that the toe crossover section lies flat on the shoe. Excellent solution if you've purchased the single strap style, but can't work at all with this style. Other than that one, fairly major complaint, the shoe is comfortable. I would recommend either buying the Z/2 Unaweep or the ZX/1 Unaweep. DON'T buy this one!!
