So far so good. Not so sure I like the feel of the plastic/rubber that contacts the soles of my feet. Maybe they'll be better after break-in.

I usually wear a 9 1\/2, but the 9 fit me with room to spare. I have a high arch, wide forefoot and narrow heel. The Chaco\'s strap system really does allow for a custom fit. These are heavy duty sandals--literally. It\'s not that big a deal, but I was surprised at how heavy they were compared to my Tevas. They should last a long time.

Chaco Unaweep Z/1 sandals, fit small by one size. My feet measure as a Size 14D (actually 13 3/4). I have a high arch and instep. I ordered Size 15, and find them barely long enough. There is just enough webbing to get my feet in without socks.A very comfortable foot bed. Very good arch support. Very good heel capture. Very good impact cushioning. Very good resistance to deforming under pressure, as when stepping on a pebble. Feels very secure on the foot. No chaffing. Weight is absolutely NOT an issue. Overall, I would say these are of excellent construction. Sizing is significantly inaccurate. Value is excellent, if you value your feet at all. My score: 4.5 out of 5. Points lost only for sizing. This was my first time ordering from Zappos. I could not find Chacos in my size from any other vendor in Canada, and I looked hard. Well worth the extra cost in shipping for me. Delivery was quick and to the door. Delivering Happiness, indeed. Good for you, Zappos. You do deliver the goods.

These are very expensive but very sturdy sandals. The Vibram soles and softer insole make them very comfortable to wear on any terrain. The wide width is a bonus. \r\nThe unitary strapping takes some getting used to, but works well once you get it adjusted.

I got a great deal on these and I was excited to try them out and I did, on the streets and sidewalks of Manhattan, for father's day. However, there was something I suspected would be a problem and it was: there was not enough cushioning and the surface of the footbed was too hard. I have serious issues, not with biomechanical problems but simply with the all-too common flat flat, wide feet, overpronation, and the fact that my big toe is bigger than my second toe, so I guess that leads to other problems. One podiatrist says that in itself is a problem potentially causing other problems. Anyway, after a few miles of stop-and-go walking, the bottom of one foot (the ball just above the arch) as well as the tips of the second toes were chafing and sore (because the surface was too hard?) I wanted to know if this will pass and if anyone else has experienced this or if I should move on and stick to my Birkis. I WILL NOT wear sandals with socks; my wife even prefers me wearing these to sneakers but never with socks!

I like the concept of sandals, but for some reason I can't stand the way men's sandals look. The leather fisherman style to me look pretty lame, and most sports sandals, with their velcro straps and all, always look like little kids' sandals. Keen are nice, but they are basically water shoes and not open enough to me to be considered sandals. Thus, I favor flip-flops during the summer, but when real walking is required these just don't cut it. So, to me, these are the perfect thing: a rugged, good looking men's sandal that are substantial, comfortable, and fully adjustable. The footbed is great, and the soles are much more rugged than even Keens. I only have one complaint: the "one piece strap" that makes it fully adjustable also means that itself adjusts to some extent throughout the day. The strap on the forefoot tends to tighten at the expense of the strap with the buckle, which tends to loosen. Not a huge problem, but a slight nuisance, thus the 4 stars rather than 5.

After reading many, many reviews of sandals I felt confident trying Chaco Z/1. Well I gave them a good try. Wore them for a couple of weeks and then took them on vacation with me. Color me puzzled because they just aren't comfortable. They don't flex at all so walking on rocks doesn't transmit a feeling so you know they are gripping well. They aren't cushioned at all so it feels as if you are walking on a rigid and hard surface. Add to this that whereas the straps do permit excellent adjustment, they are really hard to adjust and didn't seem to be loosening up with use. I switched from Tevas because of some bothersome quirks but it was a mistake. I am so glad to be back in my Tevas quirks and all.

Great sole. Very poor strap system. This is probably the best sole design that I've seen in a long time. The strapping system is hard to adjust, hard to put on, and hard to take off. Feel good while you are wearing them.

Not as comfortable as Tevas! I have had this for a month now and have already gone through a box of bandaids. The footbed is very nice, but the top strap tends to cut into your foot no matter how you adjust it. I've had to keep the top strap contact area pretty much taped up to prevent blisters and cutting.

These shoes have very good support but they are very, very heavy. They actually have the soles of regular hiking boots.

What is going on with the first strap on top? It looks as if it has a good additional inch of fabric which makes it literally flop in the wind. Maybe my pair was defective, but if not...it makes no sense they would make it so long it would offer zero support by the top of the foot.

These are not the Chacos you bought five years ago. Chaco sold out in 2009 to Wolverine World Wide and moved manufacturing to China. The quality is no longer there and worse the customer service is absolutely gone. I had a simple quality issue and was completely blown off. I had three pairs of the made in Colorado shoes but would not buy another junk Chinese made shoe. I could actually accept the realities of difficult times and lower quality but I can’t accept poor customer service. I recommend you consider another brand and spread the word.

Purchased for husband. Platform is very wide however strap is so short that it could not even latch.

This sandal gave me serious blisters at the place where the strap attaches at the side of the heel. I've worn them several time, and if I walk in them for anything but a short distance, I get blisters. The footbed curves in toward the foot (making a bump in the footbed) on the side of the heel where the strap attaches. This bump on the footbed rubs against the outside edge of my heel. This design seems totally dumb. I wished I never bought them.

Not the right sandal for people with really thick feet at the arch. My husband is a Big Man (about 300 pounds and size 16 feet). His feet are long, wide and deep with fallen arches. We heard so much positive review about this sandal, so we gave it a try. It was a struggle to get the sandal on (his feet are so thick at the arch!) and the straps are a set length. Same problem with the Chaco Z/2 Unaweep. He was frustrated and returned them and ordered the Teva Terra Fi 3 instead.

I have about six different pairs of the Z1's and I gotta tell you, they just don't make them like they use to. The very first pair I bought were exceptional. They have since changed the sloe bottoms and they are very cheap and not as comfortable as the old Z1's. I have sent a letter to the company explaining to them that I will not buy another pair of their sandals less they change the sole construction/design, or they offer a limited warranty. The soles come unglued very easy, and the texture of the insole is uncomfortable after long hiking or water sports. The Chaco Company never wrote me back or acknowledged my letter. I am off Chaco! I'll just buy Teva's at half the price from here on out.
