Beware of sand and wet rocks! I previously reviewed these sandals and gave them high marks all around. I am now lowering my marks for their overall performance. I wore these sandals on a whitewater rafting trip this summer. They performed quite well except that the soles felt extremely slippery when standing on wet rocks. In fact, I slipped and fell one time, hurting my arm. Also, sand has a very negative impact on these sandals. It works its way into the channels where the straps run through the sole and causes the straps to "lock" in place. I've worked and worked with my straps since I got home but still do not have much adjustment room. There seems to be no way to get the sand out of the channels. I think the straps are permanently stuck. All that said the Chaco’s are very comfortable to wear on the river and on the street.

Nice, hard sandal - While this sandal is well made, it feels hard on the feet and is heavy. Wish it had more cushion - then it would be the perfect sandal. Buy it in the wide; gives more room throughout.

Too wide! Ridiculously wide. Looked like a plank on my husband's foot. Returned and bought another brand.

I have an issue with these sandals. Where the heel straps come out of the sole there is a bump and my heel hits the bump when I walk. Either my heel is too wide or the design is too narrow. I think it is the design. I would have returned but did not.

Great hiking sandals.

My husband is very pleased with these river sandals (that's what we use them for). Make sure you have exact measurements. I had to return the 12's for 13's. They are heavy sandals because of this sole. I have some in womens & since smaller not as heavy. Exchange process was very easy & Zappos was great!

Chacos are legendary and these are extremely comfortable right out of the box. Some complain about the strap being too long - cut them and use a lighter to sear the ends - good to go.

I bought a pair of Z/2s but the toe strap kept tightening around my toe and cutting off circulation. I exchanged them for these and I love them. My last pair of Z/1s lasted 11 years. Very durable and comfortable.

I tried a couple of other brands and ended up getting these, and I'm glad I did. Once you get the straps adjusted to your liking, they feel great (instructions are printed inside the shoe box). Adjustment is easy. I might get another pair or two!

So far, so good. I've enjoyed them so far. I've been wearing them pretty regularly for the past few days. This morning, I took a two mile walk with my dog at a fairly quick pace and now I have a couple "hot spots" on one foot. I might need to do a little more strap adjustments. Also, I apparently have "low volume" feet, which means the adjustment strap by the ankle was dragging on the ground. After a little internet research, I found out I could either send in the sandals to chaco to adjust the straps, or I could make a simple knot at the end of the strap to shorten it. (Cutting the strap voids the warranty.) A simple knot fixed all. I like the arch support and the chunky sole. I look forward to wearing these sandals for a long time.

Good shoe with great support but a tad heavy though. I wear a 13 and had to reorder a 14 due to how narrow they are.

Have flat feet so good arch support is a must. I am in sandals for 12 months. Been wearing these right out of the box. Adjustment issue was a non-issue. For me, a bargain!

This is my second pair or Z/1 unaweeps. I had to replace my first after eight years due to tread wear and smell. I live in these things during the summer and find them incredibly comfortable. They're good for everyday wear as well as light to moderate hiking. Some people have commented on a "break in" period. I haven't found that to be the case with these, probably because I was accustomed to them from wearing my old ones so often. My only complaint about these is the additional "Chaco" logo on the side of the heel. My old ones didn't have it and I liked that better.

My son loves his new Chaco's! He wears a 10 1/2 normally but the 10 was perfect! Great quality shoes.

Bought these for my boyfriend for his birthday--he loves them! Fit is as expected, the straps you can manually adjust. These replace his Keens (trap dirt/rocks during river crossings and hiking). If he could live in them, he would!

I saw great reviews here that made me really want these sandals, but I was hesitant because the maximum width available for them was only 2E. My foot is very wide--I had just bought (and was very satisfied with) my 2nd pair of 6E-wide Dunham sandals from Zappos, but that's 4 E's wider than Chaco says it makes. Then I happened to see the so-called bad review here that said their Chacos were too wide. That actually led me to take a chance on them, and am I glad I did. They were indeed as wide as my 6E's, and, since everything the good reviews said about them was true, there was no need to use the Zappos return policy at all.

Between my boyfriend and I we have 4 pairs of Chacos (work Chacos and dress Chacos, we're from the Pacific Northwest) and we love them. But it's the customer service that keeps us coming back to Zappos. A knowledgeable and helpful staff every time, what more could I ask for? Oh yeah, free shipping, Bingo!

Great shoes...love them. I wear them every day. The last pair I had, I wore for almost 9 yrs. I hope these last that long.

My gf got me these shoes and they dope. I wear them all the time. The only thing is that little pebbles make their way in between your foot and the sandal. I want Chaco accessories.

I would recommend these to anyone. They are super comfortable and I wear them all the time. Setting up the straps is easy but does take a minute to get set the way you like.

These sandles were exactly what I wanted. The time of delivery was great. I will continue to use Zappos.

This is a very nice shoe. It took a couple of wearings for me to get used to feeling the strap connecting at the outside of the heel. Now I barely notice it. It is VERY sturdy and well made, and really comfortable, with a secure fit - the shoe doesn't slide around on my foot as I walk. I'll certainly buy another pair when it comes time to replace these, although I don't expect that to be anytime soon. I would recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a comfortable and well made sandal.

I've just purchased my 3rd pair of Chacos in 8 years. I wear them about 300 days out of the year (I live in a beach town in deep South Texas). Every time I've bought them it has been from Zappos. I can't put in to words how comfortable and reliable the sandal is or how quick and painless the purchase experience is through Zappos. In 2-3 years when I need another pair, I'll purchase from Zappos again.

I love my Chacos! My son walked from NYC to NOLA w Chacos so I decided to try them. Great support, brilliant styling. I love them! Highly recommend them.
