The most sturdy sandal available on the market. The strap needs to be lengthened as there is very little length over to grip on when tightening the strap. Also, the gripping pattern on the footbed is a little rough and needs to be rounded off.

I used to be a Teva fan--but developed a pain problem with my left foot. My chiropractor recommended Chacos, and I bought my first pair over a year ago (and my 2nd pair just recently). I will never wear any other sandals again! I garden, hike, fish, and rock climb in these. The first pair is still like new (but I keep one pair for dirty work and the other for nicer wear). By the way, I\'m a woman with wide feet and this size 10 men\'s fits perfectly.

After being a Teva purist for 7 years, a friend of mine turned me on to Chaco. I tried a couple of pairs on at a local outfitters, and fell in love with the Z/1-Unaweep. I purchased them through Zappos.com, however. The price tag is definitely accurate to the quality of the sandal. The sole of the sandal is of rugged construction made with Vibram rubber (which is probably the best rubber production company on the planet, for footgear/misc). The woven strap adjusts easily, and over a week's time you will develop the "perfect fit." I have used the Z/1-Unaweep for hiking, bouldering, and everyday use.

New and improved - I owned the original Chacos and I have been wearing these new ones for a few weeks now and I think they are better than the originals. They are a tiny bit smaller in the exact same size. The strap has changed a little for the better and the footbed seems a bit more contoured. Zappos was very quick on shipping, yes you pay more w/ Zappos but it is worth the service.

Love them!! Got the men's size to get a wide width - I was looking to get a new pair after my Teva’s got too old to be respectable... The women's Chacos are a big too narrow for me, though, so I went with a men's shoe, which is substantially wider. I am very happy with them! They are so comfortable and look great.

Awesome - This shoe is great for anyone who needs a GOOD arch support. I have tarsal tunnel (carpel tunnel in your ankles caused by falling arches - very painful). I can walk all day in this shoe and my feet feel great - no aching, no pain.

Great sandal - Been using these sandals for 9 years. Re-soled them about 6-7 times. That’s one of the best features. You don't have to replace the whole sandal. They are very comfortable. Wish Chaco had a toe protected version like Keens. Alas. Could use a bit more support for days of miles of walking, but these are my everyday sandals during warm weather.

Awesome sandals - I've had many types of sandals...Chacos, Tevas, Naots, Birkenstocks, Olu Kai, etc. This is in the top 2. Very comfortable, very, very good arch support.

Have patience - These are very comfortable sandals once you get them adjusted to your feet. Don't expect to just put them on and start walking. It took me about a week of "tweaking" the straps to each foot to get them to my liking. Once I did, the fit and comfort were great!

These are amazing shoes. My last pair is 7+ years old and I am only getting new ones because I spilled paint on the old. Highly recommended buy and they don't stink like leather sandals.

Great sandal. I really like the straps, very easy! Sandal has good arch (could be a little better) support and is very comfortable. My only complaint would be that is it a little on the heavy side.

If I could wear them to work, I would! This is my 2nd pair of Chacos, my first being the Z2 with the toe strap. I loved the Z2's and still wear them when I need more stability and assuredness, but the toe strap can get annoying. So, I ordered the Z1's and other than work or mowing the yard, I wear them constantly. Now Chaco needs to come up with a pair that has bike clips in the sole! Great utility sandals, well worth the steep price - Very comfortable. The straps don't chafe at all. I have a wide toe pad and very narrow heels that usually don't stay in heel straps, but these hug my entire foot very nicely. I even played some casual tennis in these! None of the negative comments I've read on here are an issue for me at all (heavy, too much arch).

Chaco is Tops - Purchased my first pair of black Z1's in 2005 and are still going strong. Found the new color combinations to be cool so I purchased my second pair...absolutely love them. They are one of the best sandals for giving your feet great arch support. Recommended by many of the running stores. Well worth the money because they don't wear out!

Very comfortable! It may not be as light but it sure is comfortable. The strap system is golden. Sturdy design and as always, great customer service. Highly recommended!

Had to size up - Wandered into an outdoor store about 6 years ago and liked the looks and idea of these. They were close, but didn't cut it. My feet are fussy, so I sized up. I kept sizing up. When I got to an 11, everything was hitting in just the right spot. It looks a little long off the toe (technically I'm a 9-9.5), but the straps and the footbed are in exactly the right spots. I've tried Keens, never got Tevas to work, but these have been the bomb on trails, sand, stone, verticals, concrete, and bikes. I think they are simply the best footgear I've ever had.

Review of Chaco's Z/1® Unaweep - Great sandal. The pronation of the shoe is one of its greatest attributes. Only wish there was a greater variety of types of shoes available from Chaco.

The Best Sandal - I have worn Tevas for several years. Then I tried a pair of Z2's. They were slightly heavier than what I was used to, but made up for it in comfort and security on the foot. I had to send them in one time to get a worn strap replaced but they are still great. I bought a pair of Z1's only to add the option of wearing socks which is close to impossible on the Z2's. Literally, you can do anything in these.

Happy feet! I wish Chaco made a winter shoe. I am so in love with these sandals that I would consider a wardrobe full. They are truly the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I wondered how just a few straps would support your foot, well I found out. The sole of this item is like a custom orthotic. As always, the Zappos service is superb.

Loved them - These were the first pair of sandals (other than thongs) I've owned in years and couldn't be better. The arch support was intense at first, but my feet quickly got used to it.

CHACO Z/1 UNAWEEP - Love these sandals! I have used Tevas for about 19 years. Their current designs have left me looking elsewhere for a great hiking sandal. This is it! Chaco’s offer a level of support, and customization that cannot be matched in a sport sandal. My feet feel better after wearing them! Thanks Zappos for once again proving you have the best service!

The only shoes - I have three pairs of these shoes. They are the only shoes I wear unless it gets too cold (which is not much around here). In fact my feet have tan lines that match the shoes straps.

The best sandals ever - Chaco’s are really tops in terms of style, comfort, durability. I wore my last pair of Unaweeps almost every day for 3 years. I could have got them resoled (and probably still will) but I wanted a new color. I've worn all brands of sandals and these ones really stand out as the best.

Chaco - Bought these for my dad, size 10Wide. He has gout in his foot and when it swells he can't fit in any of his shoes, this shoe was perfect and comfortable. Straps adjust and minimal coverage. He said he could barely even feel the shoe. Wonderful Chaco’s!

Such versatile sandals! Just had my Z/1 Colorado's resoled with the Unaweep sole and they are perfect! The Unaweep sole has so much more tread and is overall more versatile. I've resoled about five pairs of Chaco’s now and it truly is the best way to get the most use out of your investment. And when you get bored with the webbing color, just reweb them as well. Super awesome sandals overall!!!
