These socks are really comfortable and feel great even after hours of hiking. The only downside I can mention is that the area above the heel could use some reinforcing as they tend to wear out fairly quickly. Still, they are so much more comfortable than other comparable socks that I continue to buy new pairs when I need them.

It might not look it in the photos but the sage socks are actually green. Wish they were clearly marked as green for those of us that aren't up on our colors and don't know what sage is. Nice socks otherwise. I will be returning these and ordering a more normal color.

Great color green, a bit plain in the style, very soft to the touch. It doesn't itch like some wool socks. I bought XL for a size 10 foot. The socks shrink a little upon drying in low heat cycle.

Smartwool hiking socks are not too thick, and not too thin. They keep you warm even when wet because they're wool. They machine wash fine. I've never gotten blisters from them. Best to try on new boots with them if that's what you're planning to wear, because they can take up too much room if you haven't planned for them. The question of style is not applicable.

I like these for hiking and daily wear when they are relatively new, before the heel wears out after a couple months. Part of the problem I think is my foot size/width. I'm a 13 narrow. Extra large socks are too big and too wide causing my foot to slide around. Thus my only choice is to buy size Large, which is stretching the sock lengthwise but the width is almost snug enough. The stretching of the heel may be part of the reason the heel wears out so fast for me. If you're blessed with normal width feet, you may be okay with sizing/ wear issues and perhaps this review is a waste of time for the masses. But I can't find socks that fit me! Dagdabbit! But I still dig Zappos.

s always shipping is fast. These socks are soft, thick, and warm. They hold their shape rather well and get softer with each wash. They have survived the cold winters of Afghanistan @ -20F in the snow. 7 months after later purchase 1 out of the 3 have started to sag at the top. A little too hot for the summer/spring.

These socks are the best by far when it come to wool socks! My husband wears them 365 days a year... okay maybe like 355 hahaha But they are truly the only wool socks he doesn’t wear out in a couple of months. They keep his feet warm and dry in the winter and cool in the summer. I don’t know how he even wears them in the summer because just the thought makes me sweat!! Hahaha

I didn't buy them for style. I bought them for comfort and durability. I buy the next size larger (XL for size 11.5) and they feel perfect.

Searched around for a well made pair of merino wool socks. These Smartwool socks are exactly what I was looking for, they fit well and are very comfortable. I have worn them for many days now and can see why some folks wear them like slippers. Very happy with them.

I’ve been wearing these for years. I wear a size 7 in women’s shoes. I wear a medium smartwool. While this sock is really excellent the heel in it is too big, so I have to pull it up so it does not rub. Women specific smartwool socks bit better. I do like these thick socks for wearing with wool clogs. Took one star off because decent colors like dark gray or black are rarely available and are much more subtle. These also make dansko clogs fit great.

Fit is True to size chart. These a very cushioned and thick, so might affect the fit with certain shoes. I have worn Smart Wool socks for 30 years and have tried competitors, but they don't measure up. They are not hot in the summer and they can be worn for many days of hiking all day without washing - sounds gross- but no odor at all. Great space saver for packing.

Love these they fit me better than the older smartwool in medium. I measure 6.5 and 6 in my feet. Small size smartwool hurts because it rams my toes. I wear a 7 in shoes for comfort. Old smart wools in medium in this style use to bunch up in my heel so I had to pull them up in the back. These do not. Love the gray for the urban jungle. These socks are great for getting clogs like Dansko to fit because they are bulkier. Love the hiker socks. Only merino wool I can tollerate. Love smartwool thanks for making a discount pack of 3 will buy more next month.

These socks were amazing. I tend to always have clammy feet and I swear I don’t ever remember my feet being warm in the winter months. We went on a trip to Scotland this month and trudged through wet ground and hiked cliffs in the wet mud and my feet were not cold once!! I can’t wait for winter so I can finally be warm!
