Keen Portola rocks! I just had bunion surgery and need shoes with a wider toe box than before. I already had the Keen Newports, so I was hoping all other Keens had a similar fit. The Portola fits exactly the way I needed it to: with toe protection if someone stepped on me and extra room on either side of my toes leaving no pressure on my big toe. The laces make the rest of the shoe narrow enough so they don't feel wide all over. My only complaint was during my first time wearing them; I walked around while watching the Boston Marathon and got blisters on both heels. Since then, they haven't bothered me, but be cautious of that first break-in.
I'd also recommend:
not the Keen Bronx - the toe height is too short

Transporter - I work at a hospital 3 - 5 days a week I am a radiology transporter: I push patients all day long in wheelchairs and stretchers from their hospital rooms to the x-ray department. Best job in the world...hard on your feet...You are walking all day. These shoes are excellent. Nice wide toe box. Good padding inside the shoe. My feet and legs never ache; unlike the other transporters who wear sneakers. Great-thick-rubber soles to absorb all the pounding I do in the hospital halls...I have a heavy walk. The only thing is; the shoe itself is a little bit stiff. I'm sure they will give a little in time. I just don't tie the laces tight and they work for me just fine. Plus, I've gotten a million compliments on them I wear a size 7 and they are perfect for me. They make your foot look like it’s a size smaller. I have 6 pairs of Keens and the comfort can't be beat. Hope this helps.

Whoo hoo - Perfect. Wide enough. comfortable. I have been wearing these for work (6-9hrs running) and play (18 holes golf, shopping). Good grip on carpet, lino, and grass. Fun to wear. My only suggestions would be better aeration and a heel that is just a scooch lower, it tends to dig.

Look as good on as in the picture! However having read all reviews I ordered a full size up and they are a tad too big. Seriously comfortable (apart from early days pinching at heel) and really wide fitting. Look Cool, Feel Cool and Zappos customer service is fantastic.

Fun shoe- I found this shoe fun to wear, however, the canvas on the heel counter is rather sharp and actually cut my right heel. The toe box is very roomy and wearing the shoe with thick socks is ideal.

The front part of these fit like Keens do: wide, roomy, comfy. And yes, they're adorable. However, unlike some of the other Keen running-shoe styles, these don't have padding in the topline part that goes around your ankle. On me, they rubbed badly all around my (admittedly somewhat pudgy) ankles. In trying to break them in, the canvas piping pilled and became even more troublesome. If you have a slim ankle, these would probably work for you. Keen has other similar shoes with padding in that area, the Briggs/Bronx, Presidio in particular. My Briggs are my go-to comfort shoe.

I have high arches and require extra cushioning and support, which unfortunately Keen does not seem to have. I have since gone with Teva shoes which have the extra cushioning and support I need.

Keen Portola - The shoe fit true to size. The shoe is very cool looking. The shoe has poor arch support resulting in my feet being tired after wearing for extended periods of time.

I wear my other shoes if there is a lot of walking involved. These have taken me a while to break into. They rubbed the back of my feet raw, that has luckily stopped, but when walking they hurt where the shoe bends above my toes. Ouch. They seem to be getting more comfortable with time.

I love the look of this funky shoe, but I had to return them. I'm normally a 9.5 in dress shoes, 10 in Keen shoes, and 10.5 in athletic shoes. I tried the Portola in 9.5, 10, 10.5 and 11. Nothing worked for me. I was so disappointed. There's a strange little bump where the insole meets the heel cup. I'm sure I could change out the insole for a different brand and maybe alleviate the problem. I tried to break-in the size 10 for a couple weeks but it never worked out for me. I'm glad others are happy with this shoe; it's probably just my weird heel giving me trouble. They are a really cute shoe and you definitely need to size up a half-size if you order these. The toe box is typical Keen - roomy.

Cute but odd - These shoes were a whole size too small which was too bad because I have been wanting a pair of Keene's for a long time. The shoes are cute looking and looked great with a pair of jeans or corduroys. The toe box is quite square which might put some people off but leaves a lot of room for your toes. Also, the heel was a narrow, if your heel is larger than average, this shoe may cause blisters.

Comfy footbed, but stiff upper - I decided to return this shoe. Although I loved the nice squishy footbed and the rugged looking sole, I found the stiff upper just didn't seem to be the right shape for my foot. The heel area was not quite the right shape for my foot and I wasn't sure whether or not it would break-in well. I also agree with the reviewer who said that the shoe has a somewhat clownish shape that isn't revealed by the Zappos picture, because the Zappos picture is not taken from a truly top-angle. I didn't mind the shape too much, but I was surprised by it and thought it was a little goofy looking.

Looks better than it feels! I love the look of this shoe! It really makes my foot look smaller too. The width is great because the toes are not scrunched up. Overall though the comfort level is not that great. There needs to be some more padding underfoot. But I wear them because they are so darn cute! Also I normally wear a 10 but I returned that size for a 10.5 (very hard to find size!) and they fit great.

Too short! Just like the reviews said, they run a size small. Since I wear an eleven, I was out of luck! Cute as heck, but had to send them back.

Ouch - What a cute shoe, I ordered the red and tan combo and they are soooo cute. But oh my god owwww! They must be made out of the hardest plastic; they have no flex at all. Really, the most uncomfortable thing I have ever tried on. I don't have any feet issues either, I can wear anything. And the sizing... I am usually a 6.5 to a 7, so I ordered 7 since everyone commented they run small. I would need at least a 7.5. I am disappointed because they look great, but back they go. Zappos rules.

Uncomfortable - I love the look of these shoes-sporty and funky. But the area under the laces is very stiff and I can't seem to break them in. The top part of my feet ache after wearing these. The back of the heel continues to give me blisters, too. Very disappointed.

How could Keen shoes be sooooo uncomfortable?!?! I bought these a bit ago, and wore them for two weeks thinking they just need to be broken in to be comfortable and to stop hurting my feet. The top portion (below the laces, over the widest part of my feet) cuts into my foot whenever I walk. I still get blisters on my heels, and I've had to use drugstore orthotics just to keep my arch somewhat comfortable. I really wish I returned these after they hurt my foot while walking around my apartment. But, because I couldn't believe that a Keen-designed shoe could be so defective, I thought it was temporary.
