Let's be honest here: who didn't own a pair of Birks in college? Well, life is just too short to wear uncomfortable shoes. The look is classic trustafarian for sure, but the darker leathers paired with some distressed jeans, look good. The non-suede versions take longer to break in but look better. Also, some of the colors/treatments are softer than others. Tobacco is softer than the Amalfi. As for sizing, I wear a men's 9M in every single brand. My recommended size was 42 but they were way too long with too much material ahead of the toe. Regarding width: These have unisex sizing but I do not believe the scale well between sexes. Men: If you have an average width, I would recommend regular sizing - your foot should basically fill the foot bed. For women, the regular width just seems stupidly wide. I ordered some for my wife in regular and she was absolutely swimming. Comical even. I wish I had taken a photo. I suspect that regular will fit most men comfortably but the narrow size would be preferable for most women.

Great shoe but my size 7.5 foot perfectly fits the 37 (stated as US size 6-6.5). The size 38 (US size 7-7.5)was just a little too long.

I love these sandals - I turn to these almost everyday in the summer and fall! They are great for people with bunions, as they are wide enough and comfortable to be in all day long. I wore these on a trip to Italy and they were the only shoes that I wore for 14 days!

As always, the Zappos service was wonderful! As for the Birkenstocks, they are great, also as always. The Habana color is just right; rustic yet stylish and attractive.

These Birkenstocks are awesome. I love the fit, comfort, and style. I did feel that they ran small, though. I am almost always a 9M in women's shoes, however I needed a 41N (10) in these shoes. The exchange could not have gone smoother. I received the larger ones in two days. The representative who assisted me was very pleasant and helpful. I will definitely use Zappos again!

I have more than 15 pairs of Birkenstocks sandals-open back and closed, Bostons and Londons. I love them. I wear then almost all the time! I had foot issues this last year neuroma and plantar fasciitis. I needed shoes with backs to help my toes not grip so much and aggravate foot issues. I got a few other SOFT and closed back Birks to help me through this time. My feet are getting better! These beauties in gray patent were my treat for the summer! I decided my feet were well enough to try open back sandals again. They are great. they are wide (which I love!) the color is just like the picture if not a bit deeper. The sole is soft but supportive--just like I need! I love them! The leather (and it is leather) was a bit stiff right out of the box I wore them a couple times and got a slight sore spot on my foot at the highest place the top strap comes close to my inside ankle bone in the front. i fixed it simply by using a medium nail file to smooth the "sharp edge of leather" where it was rubbing and problem is solved! I think it would've worn and smoothed right there eventually but I just helped it along. I wear a 9-9 1/2 and always order a 40. these fit a bit wide .but i find the unisex styles usually do. I like them a bit loose in the width. The straps seem to come up high in the vamp to hold my foot perfectly without overdoing my gripping toes. LOVE THESE SHOES! If my budget would allow .i would get many more colors. :)

Love my Birkenstock. They usually hurt the top of my foot when they are new, but soon they fit like a glove. I prefer the leather as they easily slip on and off.

I love this shoe! After reading the reviews I was worried these sandals would be too big. I normally wear an 8 medium and ordered a 39 (8-8.5) narrow and a 38 (7-7.5) narrow. The 38 narrow fits great (with a little room on the sides). This sandal is extremely comfortable and I would recommend it to anyone. They are extremely sturdy and well-made.

Dealing with plantar fasciitis is difficult. Thanks to my wife for suggesting Zappos Birkenstocks, the pain in my foot has been greatly diminished.

Very comfortable. I have fallen arches and these have very good arch support. My feet are fairly wide and these are slightly loose on me. Next time I order Birkenstocks I plan to order narrow.

I have had a pair of these for a year, and wanted a second pair. The second pair is nothing like the year old pair. The new pair is flimsier and the suede will not last as long.

Birkenstock Arizona is my favorite, in fact I have 4 pair at present. They are most comfortable especially for those of us suffering from arthritis in our feet. My #1 sandal!

This is my second pair of Birkenstocks and they are by far the most comfortable, longest lasting sandals I have ever owned. The first pair, with heavy use, lasted 8 yrs. I would recommend highly.

My last pair of Arizonas were from 1992. I found that I had to tighten the straps more than before. This is the first time I've tried the soft footbed and I definitely recommend them.

If you are looking for comfort, it doesn't get much better than these shoes. There is break in time. Just wear out of the box and go. I don't feel very fashionable when I wear these, but I can walk the streets of NYC in the heat of the summer and not worry about foot pain, etc. I have the regular width. I marked true to size, but if anything, it runs pretty full.

I think these are the most comfortable shoe for summer, they go with just about, and I stress "just about" anything. I think they run a tad bit small, but hey, they are still great. I wish they came in half sizes, and then they would be the perfect shoe.

This is my first pair of soft footbed Birkenstock. I have a regular pair of Arizonas which I liked, but these soft footbeds are really great. I imagine when I order more, this is what I'll get. I have difficulty finding comfortable shoes, and these fill the bill. Very comfy.

If foot comfort is what you want and look no more. Since it's uni-sex sizing,after two returns, I went down a size and despite wide feet, ordered a narrow width. They fit perfectly.

Love these! The only gripe I have is that I had to tighten the buckle using the last hole...and I don't even have small feet. Other than that these are great.

The narrow fits more like the original Betula! I ordered a regular width and it was VERY wide. I have wide feet, so this isn't a "skinny foot" gal review! Also - I got the soft footbed. It is a NICE difference. It's almost like the shoe is already broken in.

After trying many different types of sandals, these are amazing. I have had several pairs, through the years and they wear like iron. The support, never breaks down, which gives your feet a terrific feeling, right out of the box, or two years later.
