GARY -
I wore these shoes in high school, now I even
found a lady who pegs pants. Back to the future
I guess. I could not believe how fast these shoes
arrived, the next day. THANKS.

Clarks narrowed -
The desert boot is a clasic from the 50s. This version is close to my memory. There were two flaws. One minor and one major. First the minor. The shoe string is a very thin flat one that will wear out fast. I will replace it soon with the original one that is round. The second problem is that the width under the ball of the foot is too narrow. I bought these boots for the comfort provided by the soft upper. It is not a medium. The shoe will stretch out and I started out with no socks and increased the sock thickness until the uppers conformed to my foot.
Overall I would buy again.

Clarks Desert Boot -
I wore these as a little kid in the early 70's and they were about the only thing my father wore for casual wear. When I found out that I could get them, I guess I wanted to be like my father. I don't think I quite carry his presence in them yet, but my mom was sure suprised to see them again. One complain, the laces come lose fairly regularly and they don't provide a very tight fit.

A Classic Rediscovered -
I love to wear shoes that I've been wearing for most of my life. That's why I still wear Converse Chuck Taylor High-Tops (in white, natch) even though there are new high-tech athletic shoes on the market. I feel the same about Clark's Desert Boots---they are comfortable, feel great (after a little breaking in) and are retro-cool. I didn't know that they were even still around---and then I found 'em on this website---and I'm a happy guy. Kudos to all concerned.

Must wear them in.
A classic shoe which needs to be broken in for max comfort. After a few days of wearing them they form to the foot and feel like you've had them for years.

Hot Diggity Dog -
Wore them all through High School 405 years ago. Still feel the same. Very comfortable but be careful on slippery surfaces. Great look and wonderful feel all over. Feels larger than marked size but I remembered to order 1/2 size down from what I usually wear.

Cream of the crop -
The Clarke desert boot is one of the finest products I`v ever worn. I`m 69 years old and I`m on my second pair and ready to purchase a third. I have believed from a small boy on, that whatever you put on your feet had better be the very best money can buy, simply because you`re on your feet all day every day, and you cant afford to have foot problems. The Clarke desert boot is not only functional and good looking, they`re like slipping into an old pair of bedroom slippers but yet have the foot support of Brogans.

A timeless classic -
This boot was worn by British troops in the North African desert campaigns of WW 2.
I remember wearing out a few pairs during my high school days in the 70's. (I think Steve McQueen was partial to these boots.)
It's a decent boot for use in dry weather . Needs a liitle breaking in though to be truly comfortable.

A Timeless Classic -
I was first introduced to this classic "desert boot" back in the early '70s. I really fell in love with them for their comfort and for their "basic-ness". They weren't flashy or extravegant, but they had an "earthiness" about them that struck a chord with me. But they were hard to find and I went for years without seeing them. Thanks to the internet I was reintroduced to the Desert Boot in the '90s and have not been without them ever since. And I will continue to wear them in the future. I just hope Clark's understands that there are "hard-core" desert boot enthusiasts out here and that they never, ever decide to quit making them.

Chuka Boot -
These are the most comfortable shoes money can buy. Hard to find, but worth the wait. The only draw-back is these shoes only come in Medium width. However, if you've ever owned a pair of original Clark's desert boots, you know that they stretch over time. I am so glad I found these shoes after more than 30 years.

Desert Boots - Back to the 60's -
My older sisters got me a pair in the mid-sixties, a year before they had worked their way in coolness down to the kids my age, so I got teased about my shoes for a year, until all the other kids were wearing them too. It's fun to go retro, and back to childhood roots by buying and wearing these. They work well with jeans. Just noticed last night that I stepped in gum though.

Good Guy Boots -
Comfort is very important, I gave them 4 stars because they dont come for wider feet and If you are in this category you will feel some discomfort until they expand. Then there's a little problem with the sole. I'll be honest with you, I really dont know what is made of, but it looks and feel like a rubber band so they dont have any traction. Maybe thats why they call them desert boots. Made for warm weathers. In summary you have to be a pasive and easygoing guy to wear this shoes because they are not meant for trouble makers. They will look great with boot cuts or rodeo jeans. Very fashionable. I love mines.

Solid shoe -
Very comfortable shoe. Only problem with it is that I think the soles are too flimsy. It's a gum sole and seems like it'll wear out in two months. I've only been wearing them for 2 weeks.--so far so good. They provide no traction whatsoever if the ground is wet. I live in LA so it's no problem for me; I wonder how people in seattle have dealt with this shoe...
I tried this shoe on in the store before so I already knew what I was getting. I suggest everyone do that if possible.

Great shoe but need to bring back wide widths -
I've purchased new pairs of desert boots every year since 1976 usually through L.L. Bean but now they are very hard to find. I love this boot.
Back in the 90's they were making them in China
and I have to admit they were made better in China, they had a slightly thicker sole and they had a liner on the inside and most important they made them in "WIDE" widths. Around 1999 Clarks quit making the wide widths, I found a store in Canada that still hade some wide widths and bought them all. Now I need new desert boots but can't find any wides. If anyone reading this knows someplace that sells them with wide widths please e-mail me, I'm in desperate need, these are the only shoes I'll wear. I've tried buying the current medium widths but the toe area is just to narrow. I don't know what it is with Clarks nowaday's they were always the one place you could get wide size shoes. Also I've noticed that the current sole on the desert boots is thinner - not a good thing! I believe the Desert Boots that were made in China during the 90's were the best. I wish Clarks would bring back that line of the original desert Boots.

Width -
I very much like the Clark desert boot and Walaby but they are too wide. If there were a narrower width I would buy many pairs. In the future if these shoes are offered in a narrower width I would like to be contacted. Thank you.

A Great Product Never Dies -
I got my first pair of desert boots after I saw George Harrison wearing a pair on the cover of the Abbey Road Lp. He has been a great influence in my life so why not assume he knew something about comfortable shoes. Well it is obvious that he knew something about shoes. The desert boot is the most comfortable shoe and the best thing a person can do for his/her feet. Thanks to Clarks for keeping them around!

Clarks Desert Boot -
This is my first pair of crepe-soled Clarks and so far they're great. I really like how these boots conform to your foot. The leather is soft, but still feel rugged. It seems that these along with Wallabees are all wider than marked, but that allows for more toe room.

Clark's Desert Boot Not As I Remember -
I purchased the boots with the expectation that they would provide a comfortable casual shoe. Instead I found the quality and workmanship not as I remember, but rather of the quality usually reserved for mass-produced shoes in discount stores. Needless to say I will be returning the shoe.

The Desert Boot, and the Trek are both shoes for the busy big male human.
They are always comfortable, but are bad for wet and slippery paths.
In hospital settings, you can do procedures and stand on hard floors all day without having tired body-foot syndrome.

Eh -
I was really excited to get these boots, owing to how much I like my Wallabees and also because they're so classic and cool...plus most of the reviews on here said these were quite comfortable. As for myself, I can't agree with the comfort factor at all. They're rather constricting, which is strange because I don't have a wide foot. Plus they seriously need to be broken in before they're finished being painful to wear, and what's worse is that they seem to hold serious amounts of heat. My feet were sweating terribly after just a few minutes of walking. Thy look really cool, so I guess I'll wear them for the looks, but for comfort I'd say look elsewear.
