I have liked Timberland fit. I have long, but narrower feet. These have not been as comfortable as prior Timberland. I first wore them on a vacation with a lot of walking. Bad idea. I got blisters on the tops of my toes, the uppers are too stiff. After the toes healed and about about a dozen wearings, the uppers are still very stiff and still irriate my feet. I suspect that another all-day walk would lead to blisters.I am confident that they will break in OK. Antoher issue: the very first wearing was when getting on an airplane. For some reason, they triggered the bomb detecting XRay. I got pulled into secondary inspection for the nitrate swap. I checked the shoes on the way home. I like the look. Soles look like they will be good on ice in winter. We shall see.

Great boots...super cute. However, they do run 1/2 a size too small. I am a size 9 across the board and these are too tight. I will be exchanging for a half size bigger.

Comfort rating -
The heel slips a bit when I walk. I do wear a size 8 M or W with no problem with the length.
Not quite a 1/2 size too large. Just a little slipping when I walk.

Great shoe has been around for the past 10 or so years. Classic styling and rugged, long wear. Looks get better with age.

Owned for 12 years!
Awesome shoe, my standard winter work shoe.
Had them resoled 2 yrs ago, now have to have the leather restiched to the sole....NBD.
When they get dirty, I hit them with the Timberline leather restorer and presto! good as new.

You either love it, or hate it. I love this shoe. I wear it to work and for walking the dog in wet grass. Certainly not cutting edge fashion! Best part is, you do not have to worry about stepping in a puddle. While not explicitly sold as waterproof, I have yet to have leak in these. My old pair are waterproof, and the construction, and inner sock are very similar. Aside from SIDI mountain bike shoes, these are the most expensive shoes I have yet to purchase.

Balanced Assessment -
First of all, let me say that I'm extremely picky, and a true shoe aficionado. I've had two pair of these Timberlands, the first exactly like the ones here when I was in college, and the second the same but in brown and lined with leather and Gortex -a version now discontinued. They're extremely comfortable and quite durable. However, the heel area of the upper tends to run over the edge of the heel; the shoe needs to be updated and improved with a rigid contoured heel counter to prevent this. Also, I wish they would offer this shoe in a version with a less aggressive sole, a flatter sole, darker in color, with fine tread more appropriate for urban walking and business/casual occasions that would not pick up rocks and mud so readily. Further, I and many others with narrow or wide feet would like the shoe offered in widths. Finally, Timberland's customer service personnel need some training or perhaps need to be replaced. Every time I've called -about new soles, laces, caring for the leather, repairing a dislodged brass grommet, retail locations in my area -they treat me as though I'm just a terribly rude interruption to their far more important matters. For this reason, my next casual shoe will be a Sebago, as good or better quality and far superior in customer service.

These are my third pair in thirty years. They changed the insert - which used to be leather. Now it's some synthetic material that is not as comfortable and will probably not last as long. Sure wish companies would stop trying to reduce costs of products thinking no one will notice. We notice.

I agree with Dan B in his review. I've had a pair of these for a few years and am still waiting for these to "break in". I can not wear these for 8 hours at a time as they scrape the top of my toes. The use of orthotics will help with arch support but that is an additional expense (I need arch support). My last Timberland purchase, years ago, was fine. But nowadays?

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly -
The Good: This is a durable, high quality casual shoe with supple leather that stays that way after innumerable soakings, excellent construction, and the increasingly rare full leather linings. The soles are long wearing and slip resistant in all kinds of weather. I got my 1st pair of these 25 years ago, & they have not changed at all since then.
The Bad: The heel is still made in the old-style moccasin style--without a rigid cup for both stability and to keep the heel from rather quickly and permanently bulging over the sole on either the inside or outside, depending on whether you are a pronator or supinator. This traditional heel construction is also relatively wide, and so does not fit those with narrow heels. The trade-off of the leather's suppleness is that it will stretch, and the dye in it will continue to permanently stain your socks for years before the color in the leather finally leaches out. Part of the reason for that is that the shoe traps foot moisture because it does not have an absorbent orthotic or any other modern way to dissipate moisture. The deeply lugged sole is overly aggressive--like a hiking boot-- as it readily picks up mud and pebbles and deposits them on your floor.
The Ugly: Appearance is highly subjective, but to my eye, the light-colored sole contrasts unfavorably with the dark oxblood leather upper (which was common among mocs back in the days when this shoe debuted), the bright metal grommets would be more stylish were they antiqued brass instead, and the shoe should be offered in more colors--brown and tan.
In Sum: That this shoe has not changed in decades is both to its credit and detriment. If Timberland would update it while retaining the good qualities, I'd get yet another pair. As it is, this shoe is at the final, cash cow stage of the product cycle, and note that the price is still quite expensive.

The quality of this shoe is very poor, had the shoes for about 2 months mostly wear on week-ends the sole of one shoe came off, the clerk in the Timberland store was very helpfull and gave another pair, so far is O.K. will keep you posted on the new pair

These Timberland 3-Eye Lug boat shoes are super clean and easy to wear. The burgundy leather looks even better in person, and they're really comfortable once you break them in. The chunky sole gives them a nice rugged vibe, so you can dress them up or keep it casual. Definitely a solid everyday pair.

Bought this shoe as a winter replacement for my usual Timberland boat shoes which are deadly on snow and ice (no traction), but work well on other surfaces. These handle snow and ice very well. However they are very slippery on smooth surfaces. So pick your poison. Glad that I have both pairs. The quality is top notch.

I don't know why the size didn't match the size I usually buy. I had to go to a store, try on different sizes to find one that fit, and exchange them. But it was worth it.

Looks very classy. Impressive design. Roomy, comfortable and still easy on your feet after 12 hrs of use. Other companies doesn't give you sole as grippy as timberland and design is phenomenal.
Go for it

I love these shoes! They're very classy and I can style them with a lot of my clothes! They're especially great for fall and winter but I'm sure they'll be great in the summer too! I had to return the first pair that I got because it was too big and I learned that they need to be worn very true to size.

Great pair of boats. Commenting to do the good work: I wear 9.5 in regular Timb boots, and 9.5 in Adidas Stan Smiths, 10 in On Clouds, Nike, etc.
I bought these in a 9.5, and it was perfect.
