Awesome, classic shoes - a few notes: - go 1/2 size smaller than you normally wear because they run a little big - they are really flat, so you may want to get a pair of aftermarket heel supports for them - the Olive color is the closest thing to the old Taupe they currently make. It's actually kind of bronze, and has a slight greenish tone, but don't let that scare you away. - they look better with age so I expect them to fade a little lighter

I have had a half dozen pair and they are superb,BUT no real arch support. Use orthotics, to help. Also purchase a wire suede brush and rubber smuge eraser at a shoe repair store for suede models

I love this boots and have had about 5 pair over the years, the only complaint I have is the boot is much greener in person than in the pics but once I wear them awhile I’m sure the more best up they get the better they will look

Great shoe for all casual or business casual occasions. You can wear them with jeans or slacks. Just note that these shoes are much lighter than the pictures. I do not recommend with Khakis— go for a darker brown.

Clarks Desert Boots are unique in their ability to look good at the office with khaki pants, at dinner with sport coat and slacks, and with jeans on the weekend. Most styles have soft suede uppers but the beeswax "hard" leather is popular for wet climates because it is easy to waterproof. The original Desert Boot only comes in a medium width but the suede versions loosen up after a few weeks of wear, helpful if your foot is a bit wider than a medium. I ordered a half size down from my non-Clark size and the boots have a relaxed fit with thick socks... a looser fit with thin socks. By design, the boots have a flat, very firm insole with no arch support. Combined with the flexible soft crepe rubber sole, the boots (after breaking in) feel as if you are wearing light slippers. The beeswax and hard leather models take longer to break in. Mink oil will soften and waterproof the beeswax model.

Great Looking Casual! These are very foot friendly boots. They are super easy to get into, the laces stay tied and the dark color keeps scrapes and dirt camouflaged. These tie a little lower than some boots so at first it feels like the ankles aren't supported, which frankly their not, but it actually makes them very comfortable and light.

Left boot is fine.. Right boot is digging into the ankle area for some wierd reason.. bugging me.. just gonna keep wearing them, hopefully that goes away... In VANs, i wear a 12.. i got these in 11.5 and it seems a good fit.. except for the heal, ankle bite thing.. kinda irritating.

Like Clarks desert boots but in northeast Ohio you need waterproof boots 3/4 of the year. Waterproofing ruins the look of suede boots. These beeswax leather boots can be weatherproofed without ruining their finish.

They're very comfortable to wear - soft, they fit well. Walking long distances has been a little hard on my feet, but perhaps they just need broken in still.

A great boot. I have a pair in brown already and wanted to expand my options with this color. I found that the color to be a little less neutral in tone than I anticipated. The leather is on the taupe side of gray. Oddly the leather laces that came with it don't match, but instead are more the slate color I was anticipating.

Very good looking shoe that is true to size and width. I have two pairs of Johnson & Murphy desert boots that I prefer due to the padded insoles...pure heaven to walk in them! Alas, not available in black. These have a more Spartan construction that I am going to add an aftermarket insole to. Still, I'm happy with the purchase as they look great.

This might actually be my favorite pair of shoes ever. They're comfortable, go well with both casual and dressier clothes and, most importantly, they just look great on. They're not too clunky, too pointy, too square-toed just a great pair of shoes. I took the advice of the other reviewers and got a 1/2-size smaller than I usually get. It was good advice. Although I am a true 9 1/2, in sneakers and other shoes I usually take a 10 because my feet are wide. I got the 9 .5 and they fit perfectly. My only reason for not giving 5 stars across the board is the laces do feel a bit flimsy. Doesn't feel like they'll go more than a couple of months before one rips off in my hand tying it. Shoelaces are easy to come by and would not let that deter me from buying these again in the future. I really really love them!

Nice shoe. I had a problem with the heal slipping alot at first. I took the shoes to a cobbler and actually had them put a third pair of eyelets in the shoe. I can now tighten them up a lot better and are becoming one of my favorite shoes.

These are my go-to shoes. I work long days, sometimes 13 hours and these are my "long day" shoes. They feel great to wear and offer enough support so my back doesn't hurt after wearing them all day. The only reason I did not give them 5 shining stars is the bottom gum. The bottom gum got extremely dirty within a few times of wearing them which bothers me but no one notices and actually think that they are supposed to be a dark somewhat charcoal color. Great shoe overall, can't wait to get in some other colors.

These boots are very stylish and attractive. I got the red oak leather. When they arrived, the leather was fairly stiff. I have short and wide feet, and these tend to run long and narrow. I wasn't sure it would be a good match. I ordered a half size smaller than normal, and the length was good. But the boot was uncomfortably tight across the bridge, and somewhat loose at the heel. But, every time I wore them (with thick socks), they broke in a little bit more, and after three to four wears, they feel just great. there's not much cushion or support inside the boot, so liners may be needed for some. So, go for it, these boots are well made and attractive. But if you have wide feet, you may have to put up with an uncomfortable break-in period.

I love everything about this shoe but the way it feels. I dig the look, love the thick leather, love the color, like the soles. However they just plain hurt ever after two weeks of wear. I don't know why but my couple pairs of Clarks have been painful to break in with foot and leg and lower back pain until I've worn them a week. With these the crease where the leather bends across the top of your foot has been killing me for two weeks as this wonderful thick leather pummels the delicate bird-like bones on the top of my powerful and sturdy man-foot. There is minimal cushioning on the heel and non in the front of the shoe. Fortunately they run large so as they stretch I'll have room to put in a gel insert or something. I normally wear 10.5 but got these in a 10 and they are fractionally loose but not enough to matter, especially as they wear in. If you spend all day on your feet or walk a lot the lack of interior cushion might be a problem. The crepe sole was hard as rock when I got them but are nicely springy now. The bottoms instantly became a sort of furry jet black. The red oak color is great. This shoe has never heard of arch support.

These took a couple of weeks to break in, but they feel great now. During the break-in, the leather would pinch the top of my foot a bit where the toe box creased, but that went away pretty quickly. At this point my only complaints are that they feel slightly heavy on my feet and the grey could be a bit greyer (they're a touch olive). Overall, super happy with them though. They feel like they will last me a long time.

These shoes are very comfortable and have a great boot fit without being too generic. My only beef with the shoe is the gum bottom on this style get very dirty very easily without being easy to clean. Some of the other Clark gum is easier to keep clean and does not absorb dirt as easily.

These are great shoes and look classy for many occasions. They do run large however and I strongly recommend to order a size smaller, at least 0.5 smaller maybe a whole size. I initially ordered a US 8, but exchanged it for a 7.5 and it feels good. Since it's leather I could have ordered a size 7 and worn them in.

The red desert boots are very red! Working for Target...this is okay, but I can't see too many places I'd wear these. Toy soldier boots are something they've been compared with, however, many guests in my store as well as employees have commented on their unique design. I only gave an overall of 4/5 though because of the stability. Some of the Clarks Desert Boots will have leather uppers, or a sturdier feel. These feel like they are made of felt, and I'm not quite certain how sturdy the buttons are!

The shoes are comfortable. However, there is no arch support and I would have liked the lacing system to be a little higher on the instep. I think it would have made for a better fit. I have had very good luck in the past with Clark shoes. The service from Zappos is excellent. I would not hesitate to purchase from them again.

Desert Boots - I'm happy with this shoe. Used to wear desert boots all the time as I was growing up. I've gotten good comments from friends. I think they're a little jealous, because we all used to wear them. Maybe I'll try some of the other colors. They didn't have my size when I ordered so I had to get l/2 size up. They fit pretty well so now next time I order I'm not sure what size to get.

Great boot! This is a great boot. Its straightforward design gives it the robust look that I was looking for. It is a comfortable shoe as well. This is my second pair, I had a low-cut version before. The only weak point seems to be its sole that I went through in slightly over a year of daily wear. But the fact that I ordered a similar shoe again says it all.
I'd also recommend:
I also like my Florsheim Normandy dress boots a lot!

First buy atZappos - I was unbale to find these shoes in store, so I went to Zappos. These shoes are OK, but most of all, Zappos is great. They offered me free "2 business days delivery"! I think I will go again with them next time I need shoes. They would even be able to make you buy shoes when you don't need them, just for the pleasure of dealing with them.
