I have purchased this same model shoe for the past seven years. Each time I order it is hard to pin down the size. Some years a 9 will fit, sometimes only a 9½ will fit. It is kind of hit or miss on the length for me. The width seems ok.

High shine, well built shoes. A little stiff, with some creasing at the flex, just like I remember from years ago. These will probably get less wear than my softer, less shiny, Bostonian Quarry shoes, but they will look sharp when I need them. They fit well, look good, and need some break- in time.

These shoes look fantastic with my suits. They are a little stiff out of the box, but comfortable enough. Overall a very nice shoe.

I needed leather soles for dancing and an extra wide shoe for my feet; one foot has a bunion. This Bostonian Andover in EEEE width does the trick. They are a bit stiff because they're new but I'm gliding across the floor like never before.

Took a lot longer than expected to adjust to these shoes (or make the shoes adjust to my feet), particularly on narrowness. Tough leather! Otherwise, a very nice shoe for a decent price.

Shoes seemed oversized by the laces. They were one of the most comfortable shoes I have had but the style did not cut it.

Runs a bit on the small side. I expect that's just the new shoe feel and it'll go away as I wear them in.

I had to go to a wedding under a tight budget, I needed a good pair of dressing shoes. I had heard about Zappos already. The first shoe that call my attention was the Bostonian Andover, very glossy, good appearance, and above all into my budget. Thank so much Zappos.com.

Pretty good -
A good price for a versatile dress shoe. I have wide feet and was pleased with the width. The heel is a bit loose and the shoes are fairly stiff, which has made for an uncomfortable break-in period.

It is fine, but it seems to me like the toe is duller than I expected. Maybe I am using the wrong word, but it was not as pointed as I expected it to be and my other cap toe dress shoes are.

Well made shoe but my ankle hit the top of the shoe and an insert jammed my foot into shoe too far. I have another older style of these that I love, but these didn't work. Excellent return with Zappos!

This shoe has a handsome traditional appearance. However, it is much smaller and tighter than the size indicates. I tried stretching the shoes several times, but they still hurt very much when I wear them. Because I stretched them and no longer have the packaging materials, I could not return them. But the purchase of these fairly expensive shoes was a waste of my money. I will not be wearing them.

The style was nice, but the leather looked borderline patent leather but not as nice. I thought that they were too glossy and looked a little too much like pleather.

Nice shoe. Too shiny for my taste. Soles are not stitched - tougher to replace when I'll need to. Fit was quite good.

Sole wore through in less than four months and I wear them maybe twice a week. Heels aren't in much better shape. Would not buy again.

The shoe looks nice and wears well. I wore the shoes about three days a week for five months at a primarily desk oriented job, which seems to be minimal wear. Further, I live in California so almost never experience inclement weather. The heel sole is word down to the point that it needs to be replaced to prevent damaging the shoe itself. This seems reasonable after five months. The right shoe sole split at the seam down the length of the shoe and is unwearable without resoling. the tips of the soles are also worn down to the point that the shoe must be resoled to prevent damaging the rest of the shoe. Basically, these shoes will last five months provided you do not wear them frequently.

I ordered a pair of Bostonian shoes and received a pair of Johnston & murphy shoes in a bostonian box. Decided to wear them and give them a chance. These shoes hurt my feet after about 4 hours and wish I never wore these and returned them for a refund.

I agree with the prior comment about quality. I bought two pair at the same time and on all four shoes, the sole separated at the toe within just a few months. Tried to glue it but didn't go well. Won't buy again.

Unable to wear this shoe even though it looked good. The edge of the opening of the shoe hit my ankle bone protrusion on either side (the malleolus). Had to return it.

Finish pealing off -
I have bought several pair of Bostonian Andover shoes over the years and have been more than satisfied...until this last pair. The finish is literally pealing off the shoe. While shopping, I saw new shoes in the store that were exhibiting the same problem. I did not buy a pair.

This shoe looks different than in the picture. The fit was fine but looks and durability were horrible. In the picture it looks like a regular burgundy leather shoe but it was actually more like patent leather or corfram with a plastic shell. So this shoe can't be polished and looks ridiculous with its plastic shell. The plastic doesn't hold up at all either so after two days of wear inside a hotel for a conference (I never even wore them outside) the plastic shell had peeled off in multiple places making them look terrible with no easy way to fix them. Something must have changed or Zappos is sending the wrong shoes recently because all of the previous rave reviewers (and description on the site) don't seem to indicate that these are patent leather.

Usually I don't comment on sizing issues since the human foot is so unique that one shoe won't fit for everyone, but in my case it felt like it fitted really good until I took a step - This shoe produced major pain on my foot where it was creasing.
Also I'm not sure how well the shoe will hold up on the soles. Just wearing it on carpet only it really scuffed up the leather sole. The leather is very very fabricy soft.

Over size 12 BEWARE!! I ordered a pair of these in 14N, and they were very tight. I exchanged them for a wider width, only to have the same issue. Upon further review, I realized that BOTH pairs were marked "Mens 12/13" inside the tongue. A followup with the online support here confirmed that they had "mis-boxed a batch" of them. Customer service provided restitution for the debacle, but I would warn against ordering these if you wear >12. Also, as others pointed out--having previously owned a pair of Bostonian shoes that were made in Italy, it was disappointing to see that these were a product of elsewhere.

Very comfortable, stylish and easy to break in. However, I will never order another pair as the soles lasted a little less than two months of normal daily wear before there were holes in them. Can't wear these shoes anymore if it's raining.
