Although the shoe looked nice, it was not to the same level of quality I am looking for in a Bostonian shoe. Previous versions I have purchased have had real leather soles and come in EEE/E vs XW. There's nothing wrong with the shoe; I'm just looking for a more Premium version.

They look and feel great. One warning though, it may just be my walking pattern, but I got a blister on the top of my foot the first time I wore them. Still nice shoes, there's just a break-in period.

I had purchased another style of Bostonians (wingtip) that squeaked when I walked. Zappos exchange them for these shoes no questions asked. Great service and good shoes.

Beautiful dark brown shoe. Very comfortable, and goes great with my brown suit. Plus, I grew up in Andover, Massachusetts, so how could I resist this shoe? This was my first time buying dress shoes over the Internet, but I was persuaded due to the return postage included policy.

Very pleased but minor flaws...
The shoes are absolutely amazing. Only problem is that the sole will squeak if it gets wet. It seems as if it is real loose and water gets in it. The only other mentionable thing is that they are loud shoes.

They Actually Fit -
I ordered these shoes for my husband to wear in the police academy. It was hard to find size 16 shoes, but these are actually stylish AND the right size. The price was a little high for our needs, but when you're looking for shoes in such a rare size, even that wasn't so bad.

A fine high gloss dress shoe -
In the older style of leather shoes, these need to be broken in a bit before the user can really appreciate them. I found my pair to be true to size if not a smidgen larger.
I have these as a cheap alternative to my Allen Edmunds and they are doing well so far.

Excellent dress shoe -
The fit of this shoe is great; I have a skinny foot, and the narrow size is fine. It's a very dressy looking shoe without being over the top. I would like a little more arch support, but my feet are extremely flat; this isn't the fault of the shoe.

Bostonians are good shoes. I notice this pair on my left foot hits my bone at the calcaneus and talus joint, so it isn't the best for me because of that. Doesn't do it on the right side. Otherwise it would be a pretty good pair of shoes...

Good Shoe...but some words of caution -
I'm writing this review after owning these shoes for a year and wearing them almost everyday. These were my first pair of Bostonians and I was immediately drawn to their dressy look, style and value. A little tough to break in but they were fairly comfortable, more so than I thought they'd be.
Now for the bad:
- These shoes literally fell apart. I was not hard on them, but both of the soles separated on me (rubber)
- There were at least 3 to 4 areas on the outer portion where the stitching was coming out.
- These shoes do not "breathe" well. I used odorizers and cedar foot trees and that is the minimum I would recommend.
- They made a "clacking" sound when I walk on hard surfaces indoors. Almost like the sound when a female wears high heels. Hard to explain, but makes people definitely notice when you're coming down the hall. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I like quite shoes.
- Tough scuff marks hard to remove...even when using large amounts of polish.
Overall...I would buy these shoes again just for the looks, but only expect them to last 6 to 8 months if you wear them everyday...maybe longer if you work indoors a lot.

Great looking shoe -
I was overwhelmed with how quickly I received the shipment. It is obvious that the Bostonians were a top notch pair of shoes. Initially, they were uncomfortable causing some pain to my right foot. I figured that the leather would adjust and I can already tell a big difference after a couple of weeks.

Good shoe overall -
I found this shoe to be a good one for a wide foot and the design is good for business. My only concern after only a week of use is that it takes a bit of breaking in...Yet don't discourage you from buying since I think this is usual and will go away with use. It is a very good shoe overall.

A good dress shoe -
An overall good dress shoe, very formal in appearance. Goes well with a suit. About as comfortable as a traditional leather dress shoe gets. Very high shine and nicely finished leather. Not for everyday wear but perfect for "dress up" events.

The heel is hollow plastic! I bought these shoes and liked them as soon as I tried them on. The finish looked too shiny and cheap, but I worked on it and now they look much better. When I wore the shoes outside I noticed that the heel made a lot of noise. I also noticed that the heel was too hard and I assumed it was made of wood. I brought the shoe to a shoe repair store and the cobbler said that the heel was made of hollow plastic. He changed it to rubber and now the shoes are much more comfortable. I think it is weird that they cheapened the shoe this much when it is basically a good shoe. I still recommend them, but you have to work on them to make them wearable. Do not confuse these with the Bostonian Akron which is made worse. The stars are based on what I bought, not how they are after I made them better.

Within 6 months between the outsoles were cracking, wearing during weekdays. Thin leather outsole showed significant deterioration after 8 months. Using plastic outsoles might last longer, who knows!

Shoe looks very nice, but I had to return. I ordered the narrow size and found it to be too narrow in the forefoot area while a little too wide in the heel. Will have to buy a Rockport instead, as their narrows tend to work better for me.

Check fit carefully before wearing -
It is a nice looking, classic cap toe, with a little more rounded toe than some. Unfortunately, they did not fit me as well as I thought. I tried them on at home and everything seemed fine, but after a day at work, I could hardly walk in them. The height of the shoe under the outside ankle bone was too high. Ouch! Maybe a few more minutes around the house or trying them on at different times would have helped.
