My son started 6th grade; which is Jr. High here in TEXAS. The back pack we picked out from academey was a great back pack but was way too small. I have always loved Jansport!! This pictcular back pack was perfect!! It does not hurt his back; keeps everything organized; has just the right amount of space and pockets. Some have too many different compartments, this back pack is just right. My son loved the design you can hardly see them but they are skulls. The only thing I could recommend is that the color on the website said blue and it really looks more like a purple and black. It still is a awesome back pack and I recommend it for any child or young adult!! \r\n\r\n

The Big Student JanSport back pack is a very durable bag; it has a place where you can put your water bottle. It's also a very comfortable fitting bag and it has numerous pockets, where you can put your materials in. It will last you a long time; I should know because every single bag that I have bought has ripped on me, but this one still hasn't broken on me yet and I carry a lot of books so if I were you I would purchase this back pack now!

or the last couple years, because of the very limited availability of Jansport in stores close to me, I have compromised and purchased different (not cheap!) popular sports brand backpacks. Last year I spent $55 on a backpack that ripped halfway through the school year. This year I swore to go back to Jansport because you just can't beat them. My daughter is in her second year of college and she is still using one of the Jansports I bought her in middle school. We buy a new one every now and then just to get a new color or design, but the old ones are still good! They wash up beautifully and Jansport stands behind their guarantee. We did break the zipper on one, but if you could see the stuff that was crammed in there, you would know why! With the quality of Jansport, and Zappos' super fast shipping, you can't go wrong!! If you pick the right color and design, this could easily be the last backpack you buy.

I happened on Zappos while looking for LARGE flip flops for my 6\'2\' size 14 shoe son and I could not believe how easy the website was to navigate. I found exactly what I wanted for the right price and FREE shipping! Then I returned to shop for my youngest son\'s backpack-he is quite picky and we had already visited a few stores in search of the perfect backpack. He sat at our computer and picked out the one he wanted and it was at our home in a couple of days! I have told everyone of my discovery however most already new of this fantastic website. I\'ll be back I\'m sure.

So many pockets, so little time - The only complaint I have about this backpack is that there are so many pockets (5 and a net one on the side) that I can't remember what I've put where.

Brilliant! I agonized over choosing a backpack for ages, and then the Big Student won out. I just bought it last week. I'm a grad student with 2 part time jobs, a long commute and no fixed desk space, so I end up lugging a lot of gear around. I've just packed up mine for the coming days, and it fits everything! I even have room for my lunch and gym gear. It has lots of pockets, which is great for staying organized, and my favorite feature, mesh bottle pocket on the side. It's quite comfortable too, and its feels lighter than I thought it would considering how much stuff I have in there. The straps could be softer, but I guess with frequent use they will soften up. Also, it is quite a large bag, so maybe not suited for people with narrow shoulders or small frames, but for me, it's perfect.

Best back pack for carrying it all. My daughter has been using this Jansport model for years, and it's nice they keep coming up with new patterns and colors. It's the only pack to hold books, laptop. Lunch and all of the other incidental kids seem to need these days. Plus, this backpack is indestructible! Highly recommended.

Slot for water bottle is a great feature! Excellent backpack, like the water bottle slot on the side and the increased selection of "fabric" patterns.

Love the Bag - I ordered this bag for my daughter in 6th grade for her birthday. She loved it and so did all of her friends. The bag is of good quality and design and is big enough to carry all of her books. You definitely need this size rather than the regular size to accommodate the increased book load.

Jansport Big Student Backpack - I purchased this backpack for my niece in Carolina Blue. She absolutely loved it. It was a very nice size for all her books, but also very trendy. I was so happy to have ordered this backpack Tuesday and received it Wednesday morning with free shipping. I would positively use this site again.

Great Bag - A BIG bag with plenty of room for all that you carry with you. I use mine for taking stuff to and from work, everything from lunch (assorted containers) to file folders, car keys, meds, phone charger, glasses, cds, etc.. There are several compartments, all with good space where you don't have things smashed into the items stored in the compartment next to it. Well made as is every Jansport bag, the zippers have pulls to grab on to, the back straps need to be adjusted to your preference (after that they are fine). Overall a great bag. The only thing that I would suggest is a larger assortment of colors to choose from. Unbelievable quality service from Zappos, delivery was next day FOR FREE!!!! They've got a business model that works and guarantees a repeat customer.

Very impressed - With all the books and "stuff" kids lug around these days it was hard to find a cool backpack that would do it all. This one is it!!

Great backpack - Plenty of room for everything, strong, we love it!

A student's ideal backpack! I purchased a Jansport Big Student backpack for my granddaughter. She is thrilled to have space for all the things she needs to carry to and from school every day. The two large compartments are ideal, as she can even carry her gymnastics clothes in the backpack, and no longer needs to carry an extra gym bag. With all the other pockets and space, this is an ideal backpack for any student. I was also very pleased with the fast delivery and great customer service from Zappos.

Love all the pockets and the color; hate the stiff straps - I just love this backpack, which I use as a purse-substitute. It's got great functionality - the number and size of all the pockets is terrific. The color (lavender) is luscious and the gray trim just right. My only complaint is the unyielding (so far) stiffness of the straps - there has to be a better way!

perfect pack. My 9 year old needed a pack for hiking at camp, but i wanted one that would be useful for school as well. this fit the bill perfectly on both counts.

Nothing is perfect but...... Nothing is perfect but this is. I bought this for my daughter going into sixth grade and it fit everything it was very stylish and comfortable. Great job Jansport.

HS Senior - I really love this backpack. Last year I had the black with pink flowers corduroy one and I had hoped there would be another version that would make a statement but I had to go with the plain one this year.

We've bought JanSport for years in our family of 10... this product is so unlike any JanSport, disappointing. I've had to cut along most of the zipper paths (to free the zipper getting stuck) because the zipper persistently gets caught in the fabric... very frustrating.
