I've had these boots for over five years now, and (thanks to the distressed finish) they look almost exactly the same. They get more comfortable every time I wear them. I ordered a half size down from what I would buy in an Oxford. I have wide feet, especially across the base of the toes from knuckle to knuckle. This boot initially felt a bit long, but it was perfect for accommodating the shape of my foot. The end of the toe box is really narrow, but there's no need to squeeze into it. My advice: if you have big feet, get a dark color. I used to have a pair in salmon pink, and my feet looked HUGE lol. Based on my experience with this brand, it's a good value. Now that I have a pair with a classic appearance, I'll probably keep them forever.

FINALLY. After returning the first pair from Zappos for a fit issue, and the 2nd pair from Amazon for a terrible dye job, and ordering a 3rd pair from Zappos (because 3rd time is the charm!), I think I've finally received a pair of boots that I'll be keeping. Whew. I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever get a pair that worked for me. These are awesome. They fit great and are comfortable, even without socks! For me, that is the hallmark of a comfortable shoe. I like the color (ordered the Cognac, but I wish they had the tan in the 8R) and the style nails it. They look great with jeans or with leggings, but I don't think I'll be wearing them with skirts like some do. If I had the skinny calves, then I'd get the taller boots for that, but I don't, so.....These are great. Had to kiss a few frogs before I got the Prince, but I finally found the right pair and am now happy....

So after reading reviews, I was nervous about ordering my normal size (8.5). I have a wide toe box (can’t wear Nike) and narrow heel (like most women) and a fairly high arch with plantar fasciitis. For starters, these boots are not any more difficult to get on the high-quality riding boots or Western boots like Lucchese - so if you’re accustomed to that, you won’t be surprised by the tugging. This - like all boots of this ilk - gets easier over time. Second, my feet are nowhere close to a size 8 and the 8.5 fits perfectly with a normal thickness sock. I purchased the smoke color and they are a beautiful charcoal gray - which is different yet goes with everything and is perfect if you’re wanting something other than black or brown. If you’re on the fence, jump off. And get these boots. Just don’t expect them to fit like knee-high wear-to-work boots. These are REAL boots that - if you grew up riding horses or working on a farm - you’ll know what I’m referring to. You could slog around in them all day. Literally. Hose them off. Go to dinner. And look marvelous.

Love the look of these boots! The height is perfect and looks great with skinny jeans. I ordered the Smoke and while most people said they looked more brown than black, I thought they were that in-between color that will go with everything and they do! I like that they're not as harsh looking as the black would've been considering the motorcycle boot style. The leather felt so expensive and while the toe box felt snug at first, they already started to wear in after walking around in the house for an hour or so. I ordered about 7 pairs of Frye boots from Zappos and none of them felt right. Thank God for Zappos customer service! I'm now putting together outfits to go with these boots!

As a boot connoisseur, these have got to be in my top 3. The color is fantastic, the comfort is phenomenal and the compliments will be endless. The heel height gives you a nice confidence boost while remaining discreet and will stay comfortable for hours of shopping, winery tours or everyday errands. They're made in the US and have the Frye quality you will appreciate for years to come. If you have other Fryes made in Mexico, you may want to size down a half size. The boot toe runs a bit large and I find with a 9 they are perfect but the 9.5 swims. Buy this boot - you'll want to sleep in them!

These boots are absolutely gorgeous I got the chocolate vintage leather, they match everything I own. I have relatively narrow feet and they are tight for me, so I wear them without socks and its fine. I bought them primarily for riding my motorcycle because I wanted something durable yet stylish and these hit the mark. These are my first pair of Frye, I love them so much I am investing in another pair!

I love these boots! I get compliments every time I wear them. I had to order a half size too big to be able to get my high instep into the boot, but it's totally worth it. The short length is a bit awkward, I think if I didn't have such fat calves I would have gotten the 12R. Still, love the 8R and wear them constantly.

Perfect fit boots! So comfortable and stylish! I pulled them out of the box, put them on and went to a Christmas parade. I ended up walking about 2 miles that night. Not one blister! My feet were so happy they begged me to wear the boots the next day, and the next. They even look cute with tights & skirts. I wear a 39 in Danskos so I bought the 8.5 in these Frye Harness. Perfect fit!

Hello, gorgeous. After lusting after these boots for several weeks, I finally buckled down and bought them for myself. They are everything I imagined, and more. The leather is soft but sturdy. They pull on with relative ease. The heel is high enough for me to feel on top of the world, but low enough that I could run from a killer or zombie if I had to. In fact, I kind of wish one of the two would happen, since wearing these boots makes me feel like I could kick someone's butt. I feel tough but feminine, tasteful but down-to-earth. I got the Charcoal Old Town color. I couldn't really tell, based on the photo, what these bad boys would look like. They're perfect: not black, not gray, and not brown, but so right-in-the-middle of these three that they could pass for any of them. I will say that it took 2-3 outings with these boots before I broke them in. They pinched one of my toes, rubbed one of my heels, and made my soles feel hot for the first few times out, and I was horrified. Luckily, they were broken in within a week and now they're comfortable as heck. These are my favorite shoes.

I have wanted these boots for a year, and finally ordered them. They are awesome - tough, cool, classic. They can stand in for cowboy boots when I go to a western event, or motorcycle boots when I want to have that vibe. I throw them on with jeans and a blazer and wear them to work. So perfect. Like all well-made cowboy-style boots, they will slip up and down on the heel when they are new. Once they break in, they will fit like a glove.

I have been watching this boot and finally decided to buy it...great decision! I love them...the color, the fit...all perfect!

First review of a product I have ever written...that means something. I was hesitant about buying shoes without trying them on. I've always had issues finding boots that actually fit me. My ankles and calves are not exactly dainty, but these boots were exactly what I needed! I did not order a half size down, I just ordered my dress shoe size. The first hour I had them on in the house, I thought the heel on the right boot was a little loose. But now it's been a few weeks and even though I've only worn them three times, I love my boots! I had to do a little running in them today and they are almost as comfortable as my sneakers. Granted they do not have cushioning etc. but they held up better than I could have ever expected. Long story short, if you want a pair of boots that are comfortable and stylish, buy these. Still yet to wear them on the motorcycle I bought them for, but needless to say, you must buy these boots. If you have ever bought a pair of heels and realize you are a size up from what you wear in sneakers, buy your "heels" size. Kind of like buying a dress versus buying jeans. Invest in these boots. It's a lot to put out but you will not regret it. Be realistic when you choose your shoe size. Know what you have tried on and order accordingly.

I have had one pair of Frye boots for almost 15 years and decided to get the shorter and lighter color for Spring and Summer. I love these boots. They initially felt narrow (and I do not have wide feet) but after a handful of wearings have conformed to my foot. I am very happy with the purchase.

Fantastic boot! Slightly more scuffed than I would like, but still love 'em! Pulling them on can be difficult, you just have to wear appropriate socks. Once they're on...perfect!

I've had these boots for about a month and have barely taken them off. The quality is terrific, the natural leather is gorgeous, and they are very comfortable. Yes, they are heavier than say, running shoes, but they feel substantial and good and I hardly want to take them off at the end of the day.

OK, so I bought these boots for my wife for Christmas thinking as usual she would return them and get something she likes. These really aren't her style, we live in a beach community. But, sometimes you gotta try new things. I ordered a half size smaller per the other reviews. Well, she opened them up and her eyes lit up. She loved them. And they fit. Now, every time she wears them she gets compliments and then I get a text about it. Finally, I scored a great Christmas gift for her. I got her the dark brown which isn't as dark as the picture but still looks good. She wears them with pants tucked in and on the outside. Oh, yea, and she has wider feet so I thought they would be too narrow, but they aren't.

I have wanted these boots for over a year. I was very excited to get them for Christmas! Unfortunately I can't get them on. They must run slim; I have a wider foot. I fit perfectly in other Frye bots and shoes. Perhaps it is the back strap - I can't get my foot past it.

Love these boots, but they do seem to run about a half size large. I had to return for a smaller size.

I love Frye boots and these boots do not disappoint. They are comfortable even when I have to stand all day at work!

These are fantastic boots, great workmanship, quality materials, and excellent style. The toe box is roomy which is great, but I had to give it four stars instead of five due to the poor heel fit. These boots are made for women, so they should have a contoured comfortable heel support designed specifically for a woman’s foot (much smaller heels than men). My heel sloshes around at the back of these boots too much, there is way too much room there, which causes the boot to slip and drop when you walk. The problem is made manageable by wearing ridiculously giant socks, but I think it is a reasonable expectation that they should fit with regular boot socks. Heel slippage is a common problem in women’s boots – just look at boot reviews. Please Frye, if we can put a man on the moon surely someone can engineer this boot with a contoured support heel cup that does not slip when you walk.

Classic. True to size. With thicker Smartwool socks the boots are snug until the leather loosens up. With tights, the boots are loose but don't trip me up. I'll get my monies worth over the next 20+ years of wear.

I bought these boots as motorcycle boots. They're great! Good and grippy on the road- not slippery like the "actual" motorcycle boots I had been wearing. They run a little narrow, so us wide-footed people have to order up a half size which makes the heel slip quite a lot. Since I don't walk much while I'm riding, this isn't a deal breaker. :-) I find it a little uncomfortable and distracting when I'm walking. I put in heel inserts, and it helped quite a bit. Overall, a good purchase.

These are some good looking boots. Be aware, however, that we're not talking about soft and supple Italian leather. These are good ol' last-you-a-lifetime-of-rodeo USA cowhide boots. I'm happy they will last me a long time and get softer with further use, but it may take 20 years. Apart from that, if you've got "thick" feet, slipping these on and off will take some struggle. I really could use a zipper. Once they're on, they are surprisingly really comfortable. I always wear an 8 and the 8 in these fits great. These look great with pants or skirts and I always get compliments on them. For the price, consider that these will certainly last you a lifetime of wear.
