Very, very comfortable sandal - This sandal is amazing - feels like it was made just for my foot and it felt this way right out of the box. Worth the money and cute as well. I ordered a half size up - I normally wear 7.5 and ordered an 8. Ordered it on Tuesday and received the next day. Zappos service can't be beat.

Feels Great! I literally sigh when I put these shoes on; they feel so good. Like putting on a new pair of feet. I have foot problems; so I'm all about finding a comfortable, supportive shoe that's not completely ugly. The arch support is incredible. Just wish they made an enclosed, casual shoe with this kind of footbed. I love the Mephisto Sydel also. UK 41 is equal to US 10.5 in my opinion.

My Second Pair! I love these sandals so much that I just bought my second pair. I suffer from plantar fasciitis and most shoes I get for this condition are quite ugly - but these sandals really help my plantar fasciitis and looks great on!

Cute little Cyclops shoe - I love my Mephisto Hannels, which are almost as comfy as my Birkenstocks (I have wide feet, but these Mephistos do OK). The arch support isn't quite as great as with Birks, but I walk to work in Mephistos quite comfortably (8 blocks). I love the dressier design, with the thicker heel, but wonder why they put the front buckle in the middle. When I look down at my feet I see 'cyclops' every time; people probably wonder why I'm snickering to myself. Now they know. I forgot to mention I followed Mephisto's recommendations and bought a full size larger than I usually wear, and that worked out well for me.

Sandals that look stylish AND feel great!! I bought these sandals for an upcoming trip abroad. I needed shoes that I could use for support and comfort while touring. I've been wearing them to "break them in" before I go but really didn't need to. They felt great from the moment I put them on. The straps are adjustable which really enhances the fit. These are wonderful sandals - well worth the cost!

Out of the box, walk a kilometer - I run a summer study abroad program in Siracusa, Sicily for my undergraduate college students. After a few years of aching sore feet, I went on an all-out safari seeking the just-right sandal. These Mephisto’s comfortably support a morning traipse through the ancient ruins, an afternoon shopping jaunt on the ancient stone streets, a 1 kilometer walk to our favorite seafood trattoria, and a midnight stroll to watch the squid fishermen haul in their catch. An 18 hour a day shoe!

These were very comfortable from the first time I put them on. I also really like the style. I've tried different styles of Birkenstocks, but they never seemed to fit right. I couldn't wear them long enough for the cork to conform to my feet, and the arch support actually hurt. I haven't worn these shoes long enough for the cork to conform to my feet, but they are comfortable now, so I expect them to get more comfortable with time. Highly recommended. For sizing, I kind of followed the advice of previous posters. I usually wear a size 7 wide, or 7.5 medium. I purchased the size 8 (38) in this shoe and it fits very well.

I love these shoes and wasn't able to find them locally. I was lucky to find your web site. I plan to order from Zappos again in the future!

Happy feet in West Virginia - I am a licensed massage therapist and also do a lot of hiking and biking. My knees give me lots of problems and finding the correct shoe is so important. This shoe is amazing, the moment I put it on my feet my feet and knees felt wonderful. The foot bed although it is cork is a soft and comfortable feel on my feet. I have wide feet and a bunion on my right foot was nervous about purchasing these, but it worked all day. Shopped all day and no knee pain which never happens. I have 3 pair of Mephistos and every pair is great. Thank you Zappos for your return policy, it really helps getting the right fit. Also for me it helped to go another whole size bigger like the previous reviews. Thanks again. You do get what you pay for and I am now saving for my next Mephistos.

Great Sandal! Mephisto products are made on one of several lasts. I have to wear orthotics during the year, but this model supports my feet and I am able to wear sandals.

Shoe with a purpose - knee replacement!!! I love shoes - love Zappos too, but I will not be able to wear many of my shoes while my knee is healing from total knee replacement. My goal was to find a good supportive slip-on shoe - I do not want to "flop" around in slippers. I now have Hannel is both the tan/brown and black. Honestly, I believe these are more supportive and definitely look more stylish than my Birkies - Arizonia. These shoes are cute and the adjustable straps are a bonus. So, now when I am moving slowly down the hall in the hospital I will be comfortable, stylish, and stable. Great shoe well worth the price and it is after all a Mephisto!!! OK, so I finally got up the courage to wear these. They cost so much, they sat in the box looking pretty for a while before I dared to wear them outside. They went perfectly with my outfit. I looked great in them : ) I felt rich wearing them. I watched to see if anyone was looking at my feet... I'm saving to buy a pair of "Helen's" next. In white. This shoe has Birk's beat all to heck. I wish they came in half sizes for those of us who are a true half size because they will be a little too long or a little too short for us as is. I have only worn them once for about 4 hours shopping and had no problems. I plan to wear them more now that I dared to wear them outside for the first time. I'll have the best dressed feet in my neck of the woods. Too bad I don't live in a state where I could wear sandals all year round. To those who do...you lucky dogs!

These shoes are comfort goodness! I bought them, put them on & right away they were by far the most comfortable shoe I've owned. Even beat out my Danskos. Pretty expensive but really are worth it. Big fan :)

Very Comfortable Shoe - I've been wearing a competitor's shoe for years and someone told me to try Mephistos. I did and I'll never switch back. Many styles to choose from. Stylish enough to wear for most any occasion and very comfortable. I live in sandals year round and these are the best.

Love the arch support - I have plantar fasciitis and need some real arch support. This shoe has it. I wish it were a little softer in the walk, but the arch support allows me to wear sandals without my orthotics and that's great.

Hannel - Pretty good looking and all but the straps were too narrow and cut in a little. Footbed is comfy and is well made, I just need something more secure.

Better than Berks for me - I didn't think any sandal could be more comfortable than my Birkenstocks. This shoe has even better arch support. Additionally, my heel is not quite as low as it is when I wear my Birks and this seems better for my back. Recommendations were to go up a size. I wish I had not. I wear an 8, ordered a 9 and the 9 is too long. It seems to run true to size rather than smaller than marked.

Love these sandals - I have 3 pairs of these sandals and love them. These and the style called Helen (I have 6 pairs of Helen) and have been lifesavers for me during the warmer months because of plantar fasciitis. I first tried Helen when I was initially diagnosed and have to say that they did more to heal my feet than my custom orthotics did. Hannel and Helen have identical insoles so the work the same for me. I only wish I could find regular shoes for the colder and wetter months that worked as well for my feet as these sandals do. Also, I have tried other Mephisto shoes and sandals (with different insoles) and have found them to be too narrow for me. I usually have to order a wide but the Hannel and Helen work perfectly for my wide feet.

Everyday Shoe - I wear this shoe almost everyday - summer and winter. I wear them with a heavier sock in the winter, of course. The shoes have held up extremely well and I can recommend them without reservation. They mold to the foot and just become more comfortable. I work standing up so that my shoes area very important to me. Thank you, Mephisto! And Zappos!!

New experience - This is the first time I tried this type of shoe and it's great. This shoe looks stylish and is super comfortable.

Bragging about my Hannel sandal bucks. I have been a Birkenstock fan for many years. Recently however, I purchased a pair of Mephisto sandal buck sandals. Since powder blue is one of my favorite colors, I bought the sandals in Sea Blue. From the moment I tried them on, I felt so comfortable in them. I have a very high instep and I need arch support since my foot is short and chubby, and the Hannel sandals fit the bill just perfectly for me. I wear the sandals now, during the summer, with denim clothing and especially jeans. I am amazed how many people will stop me and compliment me on the sandals. I love the sandals and will soon order two more pairs in other colors. I plan a trip to Spain and Portugal in November, 2006, and I will take my sandals with me, since we plan to do a lot of walking.

Mephisto Hannel - This sandal is the only Mephisto that I feel adapts beautifully to comfortably fit my big, wide and high instep foot. The angled strap not only adjusts for larger feet but "slims" the foot visibly. Combine all this with great comfort and stability for a wonderful summer walking sandal.

Mephisto's Hannel Sandal - I love this sandal. I considered returning them because I bought new Keen's at the same time and didn't think I could afford both pairs. But when I came into some unexpected cash, I decided to start wearing my Mephistos. Am I ever glad I kept them. My heel pain disappeared when I got good arch support from these sandals…I have extra wide feet and normally buy an 8-1/2 or 9, but in the Hannel the 9 worked best. Although Mephisto's are expensive they are worth every penny if they give you such comfort.
