I got these because the "Signature" model was unavailable in my size. While these are okay, they are not the ones I wanted, and Zappos still doesn't have the Signatures in size 11 white. Over a month! Is that a Zappos problem, or a Converse company problem? I don't know, but I'm still disappointed.

I decided to get the shoes despite negative reviews of current iteration. I remember loving the pair I owned when I was six years old, and I must say, the feeling is the same three decades later. Great shoe. Very comfortable. Tried Superga and the fit was not for me. They had an arch support in the wrong spot for me and did not flatter my foot. I think the Purcell's are more flattering on my foot. They seem true to size. I wear a 7.5 or an 8. The 7.5 fits me fine. Maybe the other version was better, but I have no experience of that one. I actually like the thin canvas for summer. I ordered the white. Made in China, but what isn't these days?

Jack Purcells are a classic. Yes they've updated the foot bed. I find them more comfortable than they used to be. And tons more comfortable than Chucks. The classic smile is still there, and it's made of rubber and not painted and doesn't rub off. I don't know what other people are talking about there. The canvas is less thick than it used to be, but it's still good quality canvas. These are great shoes. Thanks Zappos!

Let me start by saying this is my first pair of Jack Purcell's. I felt the need for some retro sneakers for women and couldn't find anything great, so went to the men's department. I was a little concerned after reading many of the other reviews that said the quality had suffered as a result of some cost cutting measures. I've got to say, I'm not disappointed. They are super cute and will be great with jeans and shorts. I'm sad I won't be able to experience the originals, they sound pretty amazing, but will purchase again, maybe in leather.

I like the Purcell -- the "dressy" alternative to its All-Star cousin. Color range is a little limited this year, but on the whole a strong show. Only downside is that the part of the shoe that bends as the wearer steps can't quite hold up -- a gap between the rubber and the canvas is the result. I have had three pairs each of the last three summers and this has happened each time. Still, really like these shoes!

I love these! I'm a latecomer to converse, so I can't compare them to older versions. They are super cool looking. I feel like a hipster when I wear them.

Not quite the same fit or insole as the slightly more expensive Jack Purcell CP's. This may not be a deal breaker for everyone, but was for me.

This is my first pair of JPs and overall I'm impressed. Fits true to size, width, and a moderate arch support. The insole is thicker than most insoles that come with shoes - super cushiony. It's true the insole covers part of the two eyelets on the side but it's not a deal breaker. Quality-wise they look well made but we'll see after some time. When I get new shoes, the first thing I swap out are the insoles but I'll keep the ones that came with the shoes.

As canvas shoes go these were more comfortable than others that I have tried. I have owned JP's in the past and as other reviewers have noted some cost cutting measures have been instituted. Even so, they are better than other brands I have tried. As to arch support, I replaced the included full length insert with an aftermarket one and the shoes work for me. Cannot comment on durability as have only had the shoes for a number of weeks. So far I am happy with the purchase.

The sizing in these (dictated by Converse) is way off. I wear a women's 10, and for years when I wore the old version of Jack Purcells, I always wore a men's 8. Now it says a men's 8.5 is equal to a women's 10 - no true. These shoes were way too long on my foot. I plan to exchange for a men's 8 and see what happens. I was also disappointed in the changes Converse has made to this shoe - a lot more shoe lace holes added on the larger size, and the blue smile is no longer a layer under the toe cap - just at the same level.

I used to wear Chuck Taylors, then moved to Jack Purcells to try something with just a bit more support, which they gave me. The only problem was Jack Purcells don't last long for me after daily wear. My last pair only lasted 5 months before the side of the sole was coming apart from the canvas. My shoelaces also came untied all the time when the shoes became older. It may be that I needed new laces, but I never had that problem with the Chuck Taylors. Next time I will give the Adidas Gazelle a shot to see if they will last me a little longer. As far as color - I found the black ones were the right color and style for me to use with almost any casual outfit to look casual and still nice. The white ones made me feel a lot older, very suburbanite taking her kids to soccer - nothing wrong with that, I just didn't expect it to have that look.

I would have kept these but after trying two sizes, they are just too wide for a woman with slightly narrow feet. They make my feet look huge. I like the simple classic styling and think that the quality is pretty good. They are definitely nicer and sturdier than Keds or regular Converse. I wish Zappos had searchable reviews so that I could have read reviews from women without having to spend hours going through all 778 reviews individually (which I did not have time to do).

First, I'll say I rarely write reviews, but I just had to say something about these shoes. I've worn nothing but Jack Purcells for the last 5 to 7 years. These newest Jack Purcells have actually made me switch to different shoes. I didn't take the switch lightly...I wore these for the last year daily until they wore out completely. The cosmetics, durability, and overall functionality fall short of the previous versions (luckily I still have a couple pairs of the older). The lesser issues for me: Some different colors and cosmetics, the hardened toes on the top/front are attached with varying crookedness, and the shoes aren't quite as durable (but not a whole lot worse...I got a year's worth of daily commuting out of them). The bigger issues: The eyelets around the arch were lowered and are actually blocked by the insoles so these shoes don't breathe very well. The insoles have thicker, stiffer heel cushioning and less forefoot cushioning and a much lower quality overall. This raises the heel to toe drop significantly and makes the shoes pretty uncomfortable. You'll need to buy replacement insoles to fix the two above problems...I'm still searching for a suitable replacement so I can keep wearing Jack Purcells. On the plus side, these are the most versatile shoes ever...you can wear them with anything and they look great. Don't underestimate their performance for sports, hiking, etc. either (with replacement insoles now). They're a bit wider than Chuck Taylors, but not too much. Please bring back the previous version so they reclaim their previous glory...the perfect shoe!

Much more comfortable than I originally thought. I've owned Converse All-Stars before but rarely wore them because my feet would hurt. These shoes are a classic summer shoe.

I love the look of these sneakers, unfortunately they were not very comfortable at first. The first time I wore them I had two pretty bad blisters on the backs of my ankles. On my second attempt to wear them, I covered up the ankles pretty well with band aids. Although it was a long walking day (about 4 hours total), my two baby toes got pretty bad blisters. I am a fighter by nature, so on my third attempt, I covered all possible areas with band aids and they were fine. As a woman, I am used to a little pain for fashion's sake. However, for sneakers, I would definitely expect a little less breaking in. I still love how they look, and I get a lot of compliments.

The shoes looked the same on the internet but in person were not the same as the Jack Purcell's of the 60 and '70s as I was told on the phone. The difference was the front of the shoe which was not as bulbous as the "vintage" shoe. A good product for today's player.

Classic shoes. Like most Chucks they run a bit large. But more cushion in the sole than regular chucks. Looks great with anything, always keep a pair around and in rotation.

I really like my Jack Purcells. Obviously, being white canvas they get dirty quickly, so they are definitely not for romping through the grass. They are pretty comfortable, but could have a bit more arch support (although I think they have more than typical Converse sneakers). Overall, I'm happy with them.

These are comfortable and just interesting enough to be stylish. They are a solid pair of white sneakers. They are very comfortable to wear and stand around in, but not recommended for walking missions: you will probably suffer chafing at the front of your foot due to the rigid cap. That comes with wearing Chucks, I suppose.

These shoes are super cute. They're more comfortable than the Chuck Taylors but they do need to broken in. The arch support is minimal at best so anticipate needing additional arch supports. They run big so I had to go a half size down. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. Love these shoes.

These shoes go well with shorts, jeans, khakis, etc. They are perfect with almost any style. Although they fit half s size small I definitely am glad that I chose to get the Converse Jack Parcels. Now I have to get the black ones.

I ordered these sneakers in a 6½ and they are too big. They feel like a 7. But, the padding is wonderful! Like walking on a cloud. And the width is nice as well. They are not so big that my feet look bigger than they are, but not so narrow that they are uncomfortable. So I am now ordering them in a 6. I have been ordering a lot of sneakers over the course of the last two weeks and these are more comfortable than Uggs, and Keens. They are much more comfortable than the regular Converse All Star sneakers.

Warning: the navy Jack Purcells pictured are not what you get when you order navy Jack Purcells. Unlike the blue and white, the "navy" Purcells have white stitching all over which make it look more like a Chuck Taylor. :(

It's wonderful to be able to find these classics again. Actually, they're upgraded; back in the day I don't remember the tongue being so thick, nor was the insole cushioned quite as much. The heavy duty laces, featuring metal-wrapped aglets, are a nice touch as well. They're a tight shoe, though. I bought them with the intention of wearing them without socks, and it's a good thing. Still, classic style, brilliant white that cleans up well with mild detergent and water. They look fantastic and I am very happy with them.
