I think I will reconsider this shoe when I am ready for a higher heel. I didn't need to size up, just stick to my size, and still choose Wide. It is comfortable, and I think it will make a good dance shoe. For now the Jr. Footlight is the right starter.

Bought this shoe for Tango. I wear an 8.5 or 9 normally ( B width) Ordered a 9 which fit well. Needed to add an additional hole punch for the strap to hug my foot, but that was a minor alteration. Would like to have this shoe in leather rather than man-made material, but the FIT of the shoe is great.

I ordered a whole size up from my normal size of 9.5 and the 10.5 worked fine. I returned them becuase the heel was 1/2 inch higher than I thought.

Ordered 8W, my usual size, and were really too small, especially the width. Exchanged for 8.5 W, and these fit, so I would say, run small. Not much cushioning in the footbed, but overall good. Glad they come in wide!

This shoe was exactly what I was looking for.. a nice looking black shoe in EE width that would be comfortable for daily wearing to work and also great for dancing in. Most shoes for a wide foot, flop off the heel. The leather is not the best quality and is flat black. My issue for the shoe is that although wide enough in the toe box, the leather is quite stiff and irritates my small toes - there is no "give" or comfort whatsoever. I am keeping them - but cannot wear them for long periods of time.

I ordered a 6.5 because everyone said to go one size up and am exchanging for my true size of 6. No need to go up. If I were to wear thick socks the 6.5 would be extremely comfortable. So I'm really sure the 6 will be extremely comfortable for all day/all night dancing! Plus, they are really cute!

Really perfect style shoes - Unfortunately, they do not come wide enough to fit my daughter's feet, or mine, relatively comfortably. These are perfect for auditions and also for dance class, but we have to send them back. She & I would need WW and they don't seem to make it in this style. These are better for only mildly wide feet. Firm arch support too!

My daughter needed character shoes for a musical her school is putting on. She loved the look of these but they did not fit well on her. She has never worn heels so the toes were very pinched on her. Also, the strap was too loose to hold the shoes on her heels so it kept slipping off. They are a lovely shoe but we sent them back and ordered the Capezio Jr. Footlight. Those worked EXTREMELY well. They are a lower heel (1 1/2 inch heel) with a smaller, tighter strap. The Capezio Jr. Footlight fit her even in the regular width. She danced for three hours straight last night in them and did not have any pain at all. She loved them.

This is a comfortable shoe that is also very attractive. The strap secures your foot so there will be no slippage too. Nice for work or semi casual events.

Comfy and easy to walk in. I bought these for a cosplay outfit but I have ballroom danced in the past and I can tell that these would be comfortable for standing, walking or dancing. I have put foot stretchers in them to widen the toe box just in case.

Toe narrows a little too much but actually pretty comfortable. I ordered 8.5 and I usually wear an 8 or 8.5, and the length is enough to allow for toe area that narrows.

Twenty years ago, I could wear Capezio character shoes, no problem. Now that I'm over 40 and my feet are changing, these are too narrow, even in a size larger than I normally wear. The leather is also much stiffer than I recall from way back when. I'm trying Bloch's styles next.

Very affordable dance shoe. Bought these for swing dancing, and so far, they are working well. They are ideal for Balboa practice shoes. They do run half to a whole size small, so size up. I am a 5 and sized up to a 5.5. (I know the 5 would have been way too small.) The heel height is good and the heel base is stable. They broke in fairly quickly. There is a strong chemical odor upon opening the box, but leaving the shoes out of the box should help alleviate that problem. Overall, a good value for the price paid.

Normally, I wear a 9 1/2 B width but after reading the reviews, I ordered a size 10 Wide. The shoe fit but the top of the back of the shoe dug into my ankle. I added heel inserts and put pads in the sole for some cushioning. The ankle strap needed to be on the tightest setting so it hangs down quite a bit. I am hoping the extra padding is enough to get me through four months of dancing in a musical.

Ordered 10.5M for my barely 10+ narrow feet. Reminded me of how hard it was to find dance shoes when I was a girl. Wonderful shoe, always well made, but the toe box was wide (nor surprising) and too short (very surprising, since I sized up).

Yes, I'd agree that these shoes are a half size smaller so one needs to size up. Overall, it's a good, classic dance shoe but runs narrow even when I ordered the wide size.

I was thinking of returning because after only wearing once, the nail in the bottom of the heel was showing through but i see now from another review that that is how it comes — with the nail visible . I thought here was no way that I had worn the heel down so quickly.

Nice classic ballroom dancing shoe --- just what I was looking for, however I need to return them because the "wide width" is not wide it is narrow. I often wear a medium or wide width, but I couldn't even get my foot into the front part of the shoe. Capezio's description of the width of this shoeis misleading.

This is a very nice-looking shoe, but it pinched my toes and rubbed across the arch of my foot even after I traded up to a larger size. I hated to return but I cannot abide by shoes that pinch or hurt my feet in any way! Thank goodness for Zappos amazing return policy! Sheilah, Chicago

I ordered these a size up, as suggested, and I walked right out of them -- they were way too big. But then I ordered my normal size, and after a day of wearing them, my feet were completely cramped, and it doesn't feel like the shoes are going to stretch out at all. I'm so bummed!

I wear an 11w street shoe. I ordered the same size per the reviews. Not even close to fitting. I would suggest going two sizes up, however, as this is not an option, I will be returning these.

Narrower and shorter than I expected.

I love Mary Janes But this strap is too long and cheap, ruined the look.

I like the way they look but they are very uncomfortable. I ordered a wide width but they seem more like a b width (they hurt my little toe a lot). I thought if I wore them a few times that they would loosen up considering they are leather but not so. If I hadn't worn them several times I would return them. I don't think I can return them now that they are worn a little. Buyer be 'ware!

I wanted these shoes to complete a 1920's costume and to dance it. They were way too tight in the toes. I have normal width feet and these were unwearable for me.
