Great look - I really enjoy this pair of shoes; however, they do seem to run about a 1/2 size smaller than marked. They look really great, but I don't know about comfort, since I still have the 1/2 size too small.

New best character shoe friend - I love the way this shoe looks and appreciate the extra stability of the wider heel base as compared to a Capezio 2" - at least 1/8" all around. I did not have problems with the ankle strap rubbing. Also, surprisingly, I did not have a problem with the back of the heel rubbing as reported in another review and this is usually a problem area for me. The heel seam definitely comes higher up the back of my heel than my older character shoes - about 2 3/4" as opposed to 2 1/2". They were a little narrower than I hoped a wide would be, but nothing out of the expected for a Capezio. The shoes had very little break in period - I did have rubber half soles and heels put on. I am able to use my arch supports and/or heel inserts in these which as an older dancer is much appreciated. I purchased an 8W and am wearing them for clogging and folk dance (Greek island specifically). Initially I was concerned about the 1/2" difference in height between these and my older pair - but it only took one rehearsal too get used to the difference. I like the looks enough that I will also be wearing this shoe as a dress shoe. If you are not used to the higher heel, as with any shoe, you may want a larger size.

I ordered a half size larger than I wear, and it fit well. Because of the high heel, weight rests on ball of foot and there's no cushion in this shoe. This shoe looks and fits better than other character shoes I've tried.

The order got to me quickly, but had to return them because the wide was not wide enough!

Felt smaller and narrower than size, but seems like it would be a comfortable shoe, so will try next size up.

A perfect choice for any performer. Although a bit uncomfortable and tight at first, the leather stretches with a little wear and they fit very well. No blisters or uncomfortable rubbing even after hours of dancing.

Good dance shoe for colder weather when wearing tights. Slightly narrow and short so I went a half size up.

Great shoes, but they run more than a full size small.

I purchased my Manhattan Character Shoes for a Musical I've been in for the last three weeks. I have one weekend left and my shoes have been a lifesaver. Although, I'm still breaking them in, even though I ordered them, two weeks before the show started in December. I have wide feet and that has been a challenge, even though I ordered the 10 wide. They do scuff pretty easily, so if you get these shoes, you will definitely have to polish any scuffed areas after.

Good all around - Heels a bit high for my physical therapists tastes, but it's pretty comfortable if you're not on it all day. Happy overall.

Just a few minor adjustments... I am a folk dancer, so I don't get to dance as often as I like...so I will keep the size I ordered and add a cushioned dress insole with a padded heel to give some extra support in the arch & move my foot slightly further up and out of the shoe. This will alleviate any problems on the back of the heel and will give more toe room. Definitely order a 1/2 size larger than street and if you are a med width order wide. The buckle is gold, which looks silver in the pic...I am going to paint mine silver by taping off the strap. The overall look of the shoe is cute and with the adjustments are very comfortable. From other photos I noticed the strap looks wider from the instep tapered out, this is just an illusion, as it is a standard Capezio strap. Btw, the illusory tapered strap was one big reason I bought this shoe! But they look great on the leg anyway!

Cute but narrow - Of all the styles of character shoes, I found these the most flattering. I ordered a wide width but they were a bit tight across the top of the foot. I was able to stretch them out by wearing thick socks with them for awhile. The back part rubs my ankle a bit, but overall they are pretty comfortable.

A little narrower than average - These shoes look beautiful and they are so light and comfortable on your feet. They are a little narrower than the average shoe of the same size though. A little bit tight on the toes.

Ouch! These shoes would have been very comfortable, but they pinched my little toes something awful. I ordered up a half size as recommended and they fit great, except for smashing my pinky toes.

I liked the way these looked out of the box. A nice, no-frills character shoe for acting. But there's no cushion in the insole and I disagree with reviewers who claim the shoe offers good arch support. I wear a size 5, and had to use the tightest hole on the strap, which worried me that I'd have problems down the road if they stretched. I ultimately chose the Leo's New York T-Strap instead.

Starting hurting on the pinky toes after two hours of dancing with them. Still trying to break them in. Would buy it 1/2 size larger next time.

I liked these shoes but I also own the t-strap capezio and think the t-strap looks like it is better constructed. I also think the t-strap fits better. Regardless both shoes are very comfortable.

Cheap Dance Shoe For A Cheap Price - I was pretty disappointed when I pulled these clunky heels out of their box. There were threads fraying around foot opening and on the strap. They looked and smelled cheap and all of the dancers I put them on mentioned how uncomfortable they were. I will definitely stick to the Capezio Footlight.

These shoes are very uncomfortable. The lack of arch support with this size heel on a dance shoe is criminal. They are cute, and I do wear them from time to time but they are too uncomfortable to dance in. Such a disappointment for Capezio shoes.

Looks good, but... Definitely order longer and wider! NOTE: The height of the shoe in the back is too high and rubs the back of my ankle almost to the point of a blister. Shoe is too narrow to wear my arch supports in them.

I ordered a 5 wide but it's still too tight and it causes pain on the balls of my feet. Maybe if I ordered a half-full size larger, it would be comfortable. I'll try ordering one of those sizes in beige.

Attractive shoe to look at. Maybe I'm persnickety with weird feet, but I found these shoes very uncomfortable. They didn't fit my feet well, the heels had no cushioning and there was an exposed nail that held the heel pad in place.

They look great, but, as I have a wider foot due to no arch, they were way too narrow for me (this was the Wide Width).

Too Narrow - Even with a foot that is a little wide, the wide width was too narrow, the shoes need to go back...
