I purchased this for my son for high school. He carries a heavy load and says that this backpack is more comfortable than any he has had in the past.

This is my school backpack. I love all the smaller pockets, which are great for my phone, wallet, and keys. This backpack is much more durable than my last one, which I had to retire because it had a huge hole in it by then end of last semester. I will say the colors of mine are darker in real life than they appear online, but I still like!

This pack was purchased for use while day hiking in the Smoky Mountains and for an upcoming North Rim to South Rim hike in the Grand Canyon. My day hikes usually range from 10 miles to 24 miles and I usually pack a rain parka, extra shoes, food / snacks, plenty of water, etc. etc. The size is perfect for the items I pack. The Rim to Rim hike is upcoming and is a 24 mile hike and I'll need a change of clothes, toiletries, etc. since I'll be spending the night at the South Rim and catching a shuttle back to the North rim the following day. This pack will be perfect for my excursion. I've already used it several times in the Smokies and its been the perfect pack.

I have a recon that is 8 years old that is super comfy yet looking worn. I wanted to upgrade to a new bag. The look of the new recon is perfect. I love the pocket placement and everything about the design except for the back panel and straps. The hard plastic backing it's too long. It hits the bottom of my head/neck and sticks out too far on the bottom. The straps are terrible. They are much shorter than my old recon and not comfortable at all. I packed it, put it on, and within minutes had to remove it. The straps hit pressure points that made my upper arms go numb. It's way too heavy unpacked, let alone packed. I'm pretty disappointed as I love the placement and updated mesh pockets, but it's not comfortable at all. Make the new recon like the older version of recon.... long, cushy straps that end past the bottom of the bag instead of ending at 3/4 length of the bag. A softer padded backing instead of the heavy, hard, non-flexible backing. Also find a way to keep it from falling over when it's sat down. If you update this bag to make it more comfortable, I'll buy it. Until then, I'll just keep using my old bag until it falls apart.

Holds its shape after much use. Fits nicely under aircraft seat and is easily retrieved. A backpack office that holds everything that I need to conduct daily activities.

I used this for school, and it lasted me a good 3 years. It's still function-able and in good shape, it's just time for a new color. Evenly distributes weight, and so so spacious. Highly recommend.

Best backpack I've ever had! It has enough room for textbooks and binders and even has a nice separate pocket for laptops. The only issue is the water bottle pockets wear out easily but north face will fix them for you since they have a lifetime warranty.

Both my children have used NF back packs through all there school years, they are so well made and stylish that they actually carried my children through more than one school year. Sorry, didn't need to buy one every year. My daughter specifically asked for one for her college, because of the pockets, water bottle holder, gym shoes and waterproof for her electronics. And with Minnesota winters, similar to Siberia, these backpacks withstand snow, freezing, temps. Being dropped, thrown, and everything else my kids did to these backpacks.

Looking high and low for a reliable replacement for my tattered decade-old backpack, I came across this pack. First trip report: excellent. Slim and lightweight, but high capacity. I'm fairly confident this will be my travel companion to carry me through the 20's.

This backpack is a great backpack for school. That being said, compared to the previous styles, this backpack does not have an actual laptop sleeve; instead, it has a zipper compartment designated for a laptop. Also, in the front flap, the compartment is not as large as the styles from before.

Have not bought a backpack for a long time. Bought what was classified as medium size. I was not sure what 30 l. looks like. Turns out it was too small. It had quality construction and whould have worked grat if it held more stuff.
