I have short wide feet. Sizes seem to run longer and wider than two years ago. Can not find 6 wide.

The size of the shoes I normally wear are 9-9 1/2. I ordered a 9 in these but they ran large a 9. I would say that you would have to order these shoes in 1/2 to 1 size smaller than you normally wear in order to get a good fit.

I originally went to the Johnston and Murphy store to buy my first all leather dress shoes over $100. They measured my feet and I found out that my feet are actually much smaller than I really thought. I measured a 6 1/2 on one foot and almost 7 on the other. So they ordered me a 7 wide since they did not have small sizes in the store. The shoes came in less than a week and they looked very good. However they were way to long for either of my feet so I returned them to the store. They ordered me a 6 1/2 wide and I got them in less than a week. At first they seemed to be ok but after a couple rough days of wearing them they were still to big and actually had something wrong with the soles. Customer service was very nice and I sent them back via UPS for an exchange. I got a 6 wide and they now seem to fit a lot better. They are stiff as heck though and the heels are loud when walking. I have to keep looking back to see if there is anyone behind me with coconut shells. This was the first day of wearing these to work so hopefully will break in. I will come back on here at a later date to update my review.

I have four pairs of this shoe in black and burgundy. The pros are that this shoe looks great, shines up great and is very comfortable. I wear the shoes with suits every day and with black and burgundy, I can pretty much cover the spectrum of suit colors. The cons are that the shoe wears far too quickly, even normal use wears the heels out rapidly. Additionally, the burgundy color is impossible to find a decent shine for, and if scuffed, shows a bright red color underneath that looks terrible. Lastly, that the shoes wear so quickly, J & M customer service took care of me and sent me a new pair of blacks to replace a set that wore quickly. Make sure to use cedar shoe trees and alternate regularly as that seems to help.

These are beautiful shoes. The leather is very stiff right out of the box. They run about a 1/2 size big and slightly wide. One had a bad rub spot near the top of my foot. Bummer - hoping to love them

Needed a pair of shoes for work and dress events that were comfortable and knew would last. Bought one in black and reddish brown and am very happy with the look and the feel. Would buy again.

The soul feels comfortable immediately. The top leather needs some breaking in. It's also difficult to put the shoe on and take it off the first few times.

Owned these Melton Cap Toe for about 2 months now. Did not need to be broken in to feel comfortable. They are a little ridged around the ankle but not uncomfortable. They are very light weight and comfortable to walk in. I own about 5 pairs of J&M shoes and these are probably my favorite (even over more expensive shoes). The toe cap polishes up to a nice shine. The soles are a little harder then most soles. I am a little concerned about the wear of the sole. After about 6 times wearing them, the toe portion of the sole has already worn down to the stitching. This would not discourage me from buying them again.

Great pair of shoes with only minor flaws. Calfskin leather has a deeper red hue than the pictures show, but looks good. There were also some very minor manufacturing defects around the heel of each show (1-2 mm chunks where the leather meets the heel) I've only worn them once so far to an interview, so I can't say much about durability or breaking in. Happy with my purchase so far!

I bought these to replace a pair of black Johnston & Murphy dress shoes that I had worn for over 15 years. While I am still breaking them in, these shoes seem like they will be a worthy replacement pair of shoes.

Very nice looking shoes. Love the look. However, I don't understand how people think these are comfortable out of the box. The leather is very stiff and cuts into the medial side of the ankle and rubs on the dorsum of the foot. If I keep them, then I need to buy a thick pair of socks to break them in. Plus, not a fault of J&M per say, but they make 1/2 sizes but for some reason do not do 12.5. So, if you are in between a 12 & 13, good luck, because the shoe runs slightly big. So, the 13 fits well in the toe box, but will slip in the heel. The 12 will be tight in the toe box, but be snug in the heel.

It was difficult to decide amongst the selection for men's shoes. At Johnston & Murphy, however, there is no wrong choice. Every pair of men's shoes are stylish, comfortable, and of great quality.
