Asolo TPS -
Purchased yesterday, boot felt good from the box, will deep opinion on wear untill I get 25 miles on them. There is some over sewing on the top of the left boot and the gore-tec tag has already fallen off of the left boot maybe it was made on Friday?? So far as comfortable as ECCO.

This product has been immensely disappointing. On arrival the shoe fit like a charm. Over the week of breaking it in I really have never had a hiking boot feel more comfortable. However, when it comes to hiking in this boot, pain and blisters would be the appropriate headline. After 4 trips in this shoe I have not yet figured how to adequately break this shoe in for hiking. Wool socks with sock lines made no difference. If you're looking to use this shoe for long distance hiking maybe look elsewhere. However, if you want a well made hiking boot to wear around home then this might be for you.

I just got these and I'm very happy with them. Great support and feel. I'll use them everyday for work. We'll see how they hold up for the next year. I go through treads every 4 to 6 months with all the shoes and boots I try.

BAM! Finally a stout boot that fits. 14EE Keen boots fit perfect, but didn't hold up. These 15EE fit great and if they last more than two months, I will buy six more pair. Can't wait till fall hunting season. Exactly what I was looking for. Zappos, why shop anywhere else?

Finally! After buying and returning 13 different pairs of boots, I decided to spend the extra money for these Asolos. I am so glad that I did. The fit is impeccable, especially since I require EE width. Quality workmanship is evident throughout, from the uppers to the footbed to the soles. Yes, this is a substantial boot and requires a break-in period. If you appreciate fine quality in a boot, do not hesitate to spend a bit more for these Asolos.

I had a pair of Vasque hikers that lasted over 17 years. This was the closest thing I could find to those. Debated on buying this boot for just over a year but knew when I tried them on at my local REI I wanted them. Debate was over the very high price tag. I bite the bullet and bought them about two weeks before Christmas 2015 and have worn them everyday since the purchase. They are well worth the money and by far the most comfortable boots that I have owned. They fit like a glove a nice well made glove to be sure. These boots should last forever, they are very well made with lots of attention to detail. Quality leather and sole. You can tell right off that a ton of R&D went into the design of these boots. The Vasques that I had were not even close to these right out of the box. They took a while to break in but these are great from day one. My feet never get tired or hurt and I wear them most days 12-16 hours. Just a great boot that fits true to size and is extremely comfortable right out of the box. The boots just feels like they are a part of you. These get five stars because that is all they allow you to give. These are excellent boots!

Great Boots, 2nd pair I have owned. When I wore out m first pair I was happy to find out Asolo was still making this model so I could get a new pair.

My husband loves these boots, he wears them to work everyday. The leather outlasts the soles which lasts about a year for him wearing them down everyday.

I love these boots, I work around railroad tracks with lots of rocks & these boots have kept me from twisting my ankle with the support it has around the ankles & I have never felt the rocks on my feet like you do with most boots. I wear them every day and is the best boot I have ever worn. I just wish they could be polished.

I've bought five or six pairs of this boot over the last two+ decades, and I will never buy another boot as long as Asolo keeps making this model. They fit my foot perfectly, and I never have discomfort even when they are brand new. I love that they are waterproof and warm, but I wear them straight through summer as well. What really made them 'my' boot, however, is that when they are laced up they hold your foot like battle armor, but when you want them off you simply unlace the top few hooks and the tongue folds forward, then you can doff them like slippers. I always have worn boots, but I have never liked boots that require major effort to get on and off. These boots are comfortable, bulletproof, and easier than a pair of sneakers to get in and out of. I am a very average slightly small size 10.

If like myself, you use to buy the Vasque sundowners when they said made in Italy, and had the one piece leather uppers, then this is a really close alternative. I refer to the Vasque sundowner only because it is all I have ever really worn up until they started being made in China. I am on my second pair. These are my everyday go to shoe and slipper. I machine parts and weld in these at work all day, vacation in Disneyland in these, deer hunt in Wyoming, hike Mount Diablo's fire roads, walk the paved suburb trails in these. I use them for mountain biking and also jogging too. There is one more eyelet than the sundowners, which means the boot comes up a little bit taller than the sundowner, but I got used to it pretty quickly. It takes me exactly two weeks of wearing these all day, every day to rid them of any hot spots (blister points). My last pair are still waterproof. These boots are great in the snow, but wear your warmies as they are not insulated.

Great boots but they do require some break in time. They keep my feet nice and warm even in deeper snow. I originally bought a half size larger due to all the reviews but sent them back. Even with thick hiking socks my regular size is just fine.

I'm on my third pair of these boots. I hike a lot, and these boots have stood the test of time each outing. Great tracking, wonderfully warm and very much waterproof. I have stopped wearing them as every day shoes, and my current pair is now going on 6 years. Again, fantastic boots and I would highly recommended them.

I love these boots! Glad I chose a half size bigger than I usually wear and the wider width too. They are a perfect boot for just about any outdoor walk. And they don't leave black marks on the floors inside either.

I bought a pair of these back in 2007 for the High Sierra trail. I broke them in with a service work trip to Costa Rica earlier in the same year. They handled water logged mud, standing in a foot of muddy, muddy water on a few occasions and would still be my primary backcountry boots if not for the fact that my feet have outgrown them. I will be buying a new pair for next years planned excursions. I hiked across (literally) tons and tons of granite with them and never once were my feet uncomfortable from the shoes (long steep downhills are their own torture). You can basically stand on a spike of granite and you won't feel it. Some people swear by trail runners, as a 200+ lb man, I stand by these over-engineered marvels of hiking boots.

Over 20 years and 7 pairs later I'm still buying and wearing these boots. The originals were made in Italy and looked more like the Sundowner, but my first few pair had problems with the stitching at the bottoms of the laces. Asolo replaced them for free whenever that gave out before I wore the rest of the boot out. Three or four pairs later the boot design was changed and they are no longer Italian made. Personally I think the soles are soft and wear quickly on macadam, but that's not really what they're made for so that shouldn't be a negative. Some have mentioned resoling these and if I could find a place to do that I would get more use out of them. I wear them everywhere (with the exception of places like the beach or weddings), and they still remain the most comfortable footwear I own. Extremely versatile and never a complaint. Now that Fall is arriving I'm looking forward to 3 seasons of full time wear again, which is why I'm on this site contemplating my next pair.

The Asolo TPS 520 GV is great for what it is: a heavy duty backpacking boot. Actually, it dresses up okay too. This was the one shoe I brought for a month walking trip in the highlands, with a few odd nights in town; it doesn't climb well but that's not what it's made for. The quality of the leather, soles, and waterproofing, are all excellent. Sole rigidity is mildly stiff (for gnarly off trail load carrying, get a stiffer boot if you're going far) -- fine for a casual stroll, and again, plenty of boot for carrying a heavy load on a long trail. This is a relatively heavy and warm boot, which can be just the thing, but do factor it in. On fit: true to size. The "Asolo fit" does, like La Sportiva, tend toward the low volume foot, however they offer wide sizes (I doubt an EEE foot would fit even in the wide side -- but maybe doable if you broke it in carefully). For general reference on sizing, Asolo and Sportiva tend to best fit low volume feet; Scarpa tends towards high volume feet; and Lowa is about in the middle. They're all great brands, it's just something to know as a quick rule of thumb. The higher volume boots give more room in the toe box (which can save you from frostbite) but also tends towards heel lift (which can quickly give you blisters and make you very sad) unless you have a wide heel, or know some good lacing voodoo. Sadly, my feet grew a size before I had the chance to wear these into ruin, but I mention it to say I believe that would have represented a lot of wearing.

I have worn these almost daily for 6 years on each coast of the states two other continents and the Southern Hemisphere. Every year hiking in the smoky mountains of Tennessee and almost every day around town. They just keep going. Plus with Zappos free both ways shipping, why worry about size? Best pair of hiking boots I've ever owned.

Asolo makes a great boot. It it the most comfortable boot I have ever worn. Very lightweight and rugged. For a leather boot you cannot do better.

Feels great straight out of the box. Note that all inserts will sit on top of existing inserts in the boot; while ankle-high style makes this mostly redundant, some may find the lack of arch/pronation support disconcerting. A fantastic fit and daily wear for me regardless!

Great boot! Very well made, feels better after wearing it for several days to school. At first fit it seemed a little short, not quite a 10, more like a 9 and 3/4. However, after wearing a few days, this disappeared and boot fits very well. It did break in quicker than I thought it would. Width is very accurate. I will buy this boot again in the future.

This boot is heavy in the sole, and the sole is quite stiff. This is my first backpacking boot, so this took some getting used to. The footbed is comfortable and supportive, and everything about the boot feels of the best quality - laces, eyelets/hooks, tongue, ankle support, sole grip, leather upper. My feet tend to sweat profusely, but most of the time the boot's breathability keeps up with the sweating.

A great work/hiking boot. I wear these for work nearly every day and they wear quite comfortably for a fairly heavy duty backpacking/hiking boot. They keep me dry in wet conditions and warm in all but the coldest of days and not bad considering that there are times that I have to be out when most people wouldn't consider being out due to my work. I've had four or five pairs of these over the past twelve years and they are generally comfy from the get go almost no break in time needed. Most people will get years out of this boot unless you wear them daily (then perhaps 2 or 3 years). Highly recommended for comfort, value and application.
