Z3Skybolt - Great comfort, easy break in, very nice looking boot. It gives great support while treking long hikes with a 50 pound backpack. Now...for my complaint. The sole of the boot wears out very fast when hiking on loose rock or on rough gravel roads and trails. The toes of my first pair was completly worn flat after about 200 miles of rocky road hiking. REI gave me a new pair. After less than 40 miles of hiking, under the same conditions, the toe of the sole is 50% worn away. I need something that will not wear out as fast...

Just picked these up a couple hours ago and went out for a test hike. Very stiff, yet comfortable. I'm surprised how nice these feel. Good allaround look, (I'm picky about that) very sharp boot (check out the views at Zappos.com). I was in the market for something from the competition (Merrells or Vasque, but settled on these after a test fit at the store. Beware though. I'm a size 12 and have purchased 12's for years. I'm wearing 11.5 Asolo's. Not to say they are all too big, but if you wanna order online, just find a store and test fit them first, otherwise you're online "DEAL" might end up being a return/exchange. I like 'em!

These are the worst hiking boots I have ever owned. The laces on the left boot have pressured a nerve in my foot to the point my left big toe is numb and after 1/2 worth of hiking they consistently hurt my right ankle. Maybe I got a bad pair, but I think they are awful.

Had been a Vasque Sundowner GTX fan for decades. Ordered these based on reviews and they blow away the Sundowner. I love Zappos. I have Size 13 and need to wear full length orthotic arch supports for severe flat feet. I ordered 8 pair of boots and found these to be the most comfortable.

Still sweet - These where my first pair of backpacking boots and after fitting my skinny heel in it was over. Three or four years later and lots of miles in and out of the woods and there still sweet. One thing though replace the laces they’re to long I use Para cord and that’s a lot better.

Excellent leather boot - I work on building controls and need comfortable boots. ( Can't stand Durashocks, Justins, etc. They're for digging holes.) I have used Timberlands, Salomon Contragrips and the like. Even tried a pair of Danner Journeyman boots ( Terrible fit for big dollars. Like a plank of rubber with a leather upper.) I have a medium-narrow foot, low volume. I weigh about 195lbs. I am extremely picky and I no longer tolerate poorly engineered shoes, especially with the amount of daily climbing/walking I do. Just purchased the 520's and they fit like a glove. The insoles supplied by Asolo are a little on the hard, thin side but what a great boot. The Gore-tex lining is high quality, completely covering the interior. Not much break-in at all. Just before these, I returned a pair of Power Matic 400 GV's. The 400 is for a little wider, higher volume foot, as they stretched out too much in a few days. Probably due to the type of material. I also purchased a pair of Asolo Fugitives. Another excellent boot that is very light. The only improvement I might want for the 520 is the cool roller lacing hardware that comes on the Power Matics.

Bigfoot - Great looking, good feeling boot with good materials. I chose this boot because of the sizes available. I wear a 14 wide, so finding a good looking shoe is sometimes hard. Zappos has it all.

TPS 520 - The fit of the TPS 520 is outstanding! I regularly wear a 10.5 M, and this model provided near perfection for my feet. Other brands I've tried (even a couple from L.L. Bean) were consistent in sizing, but none offered the combination of classic styling, rugged Vibram outsole, Gore-Tex lining and quality of workmanship in the TPS 520. To the uninitiated, the cost may seem a bit high; after a day's arduous trekking, though, your feet will confirm the expended funds were well applied.

Great all around boot - I've had these boots for about 4 months and they are incredable. They keep my feet dry in even the roughest conditions and they look great, highly recomended for backpacking and rough hiking. I am a surveyor as well as an outdoorist and these boots fufill my every need at work and at play. Very little break in time for me. Excellent boots.

My first pair of Asolo's... It is obvious how well built these boots are from the quality of materials used, solid stitching etc. They fit like a glove with no break-in needed for me. Highly recommended!

Great boot - This boot provides excellent support and fit well. My pair is an 8 wide though they feel like an 8 medium. Great upper support as a backpacking boot should have. I just finished hiking Mt. Nittany with a 26 pound toddler in the Kelty and they feel great. I just wish they would have continued using the water resistant suede of last years model instead of the smooth leather.

Asolo TPS 520 wide- I have tried and retired many good pairs of hiking boots in the last two years, it looks like a may have finally obtained a reprieve from my spending and rapid destruction. I also own the Asolo FSN 95 GTX, and these are much more comfortable and shock absorbent, It almost seems like they were made by two different companies... These are very comfortable & water repellency is outstanding right out of the box (I apply aqueous waterproofing to them after heavy use or start of rainy season for good measure) they are light and the sole took quite a beating from my first use (extremely steep scrambling on rocks I refer to as "flesh eaters"). They appear to be very durable, but only the long haul will tell for sure. It was hard to find a high quality wide boot, but sure enough here is one!

A top quality boot! Asolo offers a broad line of boots and I have tried several different models. This boot stands out from the rest because of its fit, finish and quality of materials. You really do get what you pay for! This boot has good arch support. It has a good fit for my “high volume” foot. The thick molded sole of this boot gives it a very stable feel that is kind to my ankles and knees. It has been very comfortable for extended wear times. The Vibram sole on the boot is a bit different from the traditional aggressive waffle design I have on older Vibram soles. It is a more open pattern so it does not pick up small pebbles or clog with mud but it still offers reliable traction.

Asolo 520 - Just purchased a pair of 11 Wides a few weeks ago. Comfort and fit are excellent. I have been wearing them as often as possible in preparation for a vacation at the end of June. The shoes felt great almost immediately. I obviously have not put these shoes thru their paces yet hiking. But so far, these are best pair of boots that I have owned.

Gotta Like ASOLO - This is my second pair of TPS 520's (I still have the 1st pair!) and they just seem to be the easiest fit, FOR ME. This time I tried 6 other brands and still could not get a good fit. Took them out of the box and did a ROUGH 6 mile hike and had to sore spots to mention afterwards! Would certainly give them a try if you have not before!

Classic look-classy product. I have only had these boots for about 3 weeks now and during that course I felt them to be comfortable, very classic looking and easy to break in. The experience, albeit my first with Zappos, was VERY expedient, fun and SATISFYING. The brown leather, clean lines and good looking laces interestingly makes the boot look and feel more discreet and stylish with the rugged benefits of Gore-Tex and Vibram nicely blended into the package.

TPS 520 Size - Beware--Asolo has replaced the AFX 520 with the TPS 520, essentially the same boot but the sizeing IS different. If you wear an 11 normally and you have been in an 11 in the AFX you will need to go down a half size to a 10 1/2. You will never regret these boots, they are the finest for comfort and YEARS of wear.

I owned a pair of these for nearly 15 years. This year the sole came apart. I think it is because last year I did not take as good care of them as I normally do and forgot to clean them after walking in New York City's salty slush. While I wanted to replace them with new boots I have not been able to find any boots as comfortable as these. So it looks like I will be ordering a new pair of these to replace my 15 year old pair. Thankfully now they come in EE which should be much more comfortable than the standard width for me. This time I will remember to clean the salty slush off them...

Good, solid rugged boot - I am 6’ and 170 lb. I’ve hiked 140 miles in these boots this spring and summer carrying packs weighing between 40 and 55 lbs. These boots are very rugged and, when laced properly, keep your feet and ankles very secure. There have been numerous times when ordinary trail shoes or lightweight boots would not have prevented injury while slipping on stones, logs or trekking through creeks. These boots have kept me injury free and completely prevented any water from seeping in. However, the Goretex liner retains all moisture generated by your feet. Most days, I couldn’t wait to extricate my sweaty feet and soaked socks from the boots at the end of a long day to soak my tootsies in a cold creek or lake. While my feet were generally very comfortable, after 5 miles or so and especially under load and during descents, the narrow toe box tends to push the pinky toes in causing some discomfort and squishing. The leather is generally very tough, but rocks will scratch and scrape the leather, particularly in the toe area. A rubberized external toe shield incorporated into the design would prevent this unsightly damage. Overall, I have been pleased with this boot and expect to get another couple hundred miles before retiring them.
