I needed a warm boot for our cold climate. My father started us in Sorels at a young age but as I got older fashion took over warmth and reliability. Now I am back to reality and went back to a boot that lives up to its reputation. This is a very warm boot. It's a bit heavy to start and looks large on your feet but you get used to the weight in a short time and it becomes comfortable to walk in. I found this boot to be true to size. I recommended this boot to a friend and she bought a pair. She loves them!

Great boot for the cold snowy Vermont winters. A little big and bulky in the style department, but perfect for what I was looking for.

I am from Michigan and snow is expected. After going through a few different pairs of boots, I made the investment to buy these boots. They are a great boot for all kinds of cold weather and snow conditions. The only complaint that I have is they are a little heavy when you are walking for a long time but I assume that's because they are great quality. You won't be disappointed with this purchase!

I have had these boots for about 6-ish year, and have such mixed feelings about them. I live in Upstate New York where we do get a lot of snow. They've been used to shovel, snow blow, walk the dogs and commute to work. On the plus side, they are warm and dry. The laces work well (but you do have to double knot them). They've held up very well over several years. I don't find them especially comfortable though. Sometimes I use an older pair of Baffins because they are much lighter and easier to walk in. Even after years of use, the leather is so, so stiff. I also don't find them especially grippy in slippery conditions.
I'd also recommend:
Baffin

These boots are perfect for winter. Warm and comfortable. My only negative is that they are a little hard to take off but that just means they fit perfect!

Great looking, and fit, just made me realize that I prefer a zip up snow boot.

I love SOREL Caribou boots. Plural because three pairs of boots have taken me through three decades. I've replaced multiple boot inserts with the furry tops that slip into the main leather boot, but the boots carry on. My first pair kept my feet toasty through a Colorado high country winter near Vail. My brother told me I needed SOREL boots because they would keep my feet warm and dry. And because that's what the locals wore in that mountain town in below-zero temps. At 40 below, I breathed through a wool scarf to filter the cold as I walked to work a short quarter-mile downhill, glad my feet were warm (ya cannot start a truck in that cold--oil is too thick).
The second pair got me through snows in Nevada in the shadow of the Carson and Sierra Nevada mountains near Lake Tahoe. I slogged through the small stables behind my cousin's Reno home and threw hay to her horses. Adventures followed in snow and mud and muck and desert washes.
By the third pair, I'd moved back to Utah along the Wasatch range, and my feet were warm while standing on a sheet of packed snow and ice all day loading beginners on a ski lift for one winter. And through city storms and country miles in Southern Utah and then three winters in a tiny town called Santaquin where I freelance edited online for ad agencies and scattered birdseed for wild birds after packing down snow underneath the feeders.
And now it's time for the fourth pair. Wonder what I will do in this new decade, in my new boots with their clean new inserts, with new dreams. One thing I know. My feet will be warm and dry.

I live in Chicago and purchased these to wear when walking my dogs. We get loads of snow which can sometimes be deep, so I needed a boot that could withstand those conditions. I tried two other boots from Sorel and returned them because of sizing and the fact that they weren't truly waterproof. These boots are clunky and the style isn't my favorite. They remind me a little of when you are trying to walk in ski boots because there isn't much ankle mobility; they are rigid. Regardless of style, they are BY FAR the warmest AND most functional in sub-zero temps and deep snow. My feet have never gotten cold or wet and I'm glad I decided to go with these. The inside is wool lined (but not itchy) so I have never worn anything but thin socks in these. If you wear thick socks, buy 1/2 size larger. If you have other Sorel shoes, these are true to those sizes.

I owned a pair if these when I was a teen living in Montana. They were the only boots for the Montana cold; hunting, fishing, playing in the slow. I've been sick of my feet always being cold recently and picked up a new pair, they're exactly as I remember them - well made, durable and WARM!!! Got a pair for my wife & daughter (their first pair) and they both love them as well!

These boots are perfect if you want something to keep your feet warm. I live in South Dakota, I hunt during the winter and my feet stay warm then entire time! They run about a half size big I think. Again, if you want something to keep your feet warm in the winter, these boots will be those go to boots for you.

These are the most comfortable and warmest boots I have ever owned! Really keeps me dry and warm when I am on ski trips and at cold football games when I am outside for hours tailgating! I would highly recommend these to anyone!

These boots are perfect for the everyday wear in the snow. They a little heel so you can dress it up when you are going out on the town, yet you can also wear them while having snowball fights and playing in the snow. The material holds up nicely, and they are easy to clean. I ordered a full size down and they fit nicely with thick socks.

Bought these boots for a trip to the Arctic - I tried them out by walking the dogs in below-freezing temperatures. These boots are both warm and comfortable. I am confident they will work for my trip. They are slightly difficult to drive in so I would not wear them on a long trip in the car if I am the driver.

I recently moved to Seattle. These were recommended to me by my Alaskan-raised husband as THE legit winter boot. Size is true as long as I’m wearing thick socks, and they took a day to stretch some. I dig the removable felt liner. Downside: they don’t breathe so be prepared to have stinky feet if you wear them for long periods.

I have had these boots for many years and have nothing but praise for them. I see my friends struggle with stiff plastic and cold boots by other major makers and I am so glad I continue to wear these - yes, I do major winter camping and hiking wearing these boots - in my opinion they can't be beat - not too fashionable maybe but the comfort and durability can't be beat - I clean them up and treat with mink oil before storing for the summer and they are so soft and pliable when I get them out again for the next season. We all need to buy better quality that lasts and take good care instead of tossing out stuff willy-nilly. Best boots!!!
I'd also recommend:
These are the best - Merrell Jungle Mocs for warmer dry days in winter and Encore Ice -

These were HUGE. I am not certain if I received a mis-marked pair or if they are truly just this large. These were immediately returned. I added a photo to see how much larger these are compared to a standard 6.5. The shoes to the left fit on the large/wide side for reference.

These are the best winter boots! I just love them! I ordered my normal size, 10. They seemed a little snug in the toes at first but after multiple wears they fit perfectly. Yes they are a little on the heavy side but they never slow me down, my feet are always warm and I love the look! I also love that I can just step into them without needing a hand to tug them on. I hiked up snow covered Eagle Mountain (the highest point in MN) with no troubles, wear them playing outside in the snow with my kids, and spent hours touring Bentlyville with these boots and my feet are always warm and happy! Love my Sorels ?

Can't beat the Sorel Caribou boots if you live in the Colorado ski country. Finally had to break down and get a new pair....my 30-year old Caribou boots needed replacing. Usually wear a size 9 in most brands, but ordered a size 8 and 8.5 based on reviews. The 8.5 was perfect! Thanks Zappos for awesome return policy.

Disappointed with these boots. Loved the styling in the picture but in real life they are so clunky! They look several sizes bigger on the outside than they actually are. I ordered a size 8.5 and they fit true to size but from the outside they made my foot look like a mans size 11. So heavy and clunky!
