Normally I wear a size 8 but if felt too roomy. I figured the boots would relax with wear so tried a size 7 (they only come in whole sizes). The 7’s fit perfectly!!

I have been wanting Docs again for...well, a very long time. I’ve always loved the cherry red color and I’m so thrilled I finally went ahead and ordered them. I have to say, I was nervous reading reviews about them being uncomfortable and difficult to break in. I’m being completely honest that they were perfect right out of the box. Fit was perfect (I ordered my usual size 9) and they are super comfy and supportive. I’m so happy with my purchase. And I have terrible feet, plantar fasciitis and bunions from years of ballet followed by years of being a makeup artist on my feet all day. I should have just been wearing these the whole time!

Flashback to the 90’s! Love these classic boots! I wear a size 7, sometimes 7.5. I ordered the 7 and they fit perfectly. My feet are on the narrow side, and the width felt just right, so someone with wider feet might have an issue. Excellent arch support. They’re on the stiff side, but, that’s to be expected with Dr Martens, can’t wait to break them in. The color is to DIE for! Deep rich red, almost black/brown. Love them!

I love the look of Doc Martens but have been hesitant to purchase another pair because in the past I have found they tend to feel very uncomfortable right out of the box. And so I usually end up returning them. I decided to get a pair anyway and make a commitment to the "one-month" rule, which is apparently what it takes to break them in (there's even a Wikihow on the best way to break them in ... God bless Google! Haha). But these shoes were actually quite comfortable right out of the box. I usually wear an 8 - 8.5 and I followed the advice of other reviewers and went for the smaller size. They ARE a little weird feeling compared to most other shoes ... slightly too long in the toe and slightly too tight along the sides, but still are quite comfortable (and I'm sure they'll loosen up on the sides as time goes on). I get a lot of compliments on them and am now hooked on Docs!

I’m usually a size 7 but they were far too large. Size 6 fit far better but in between would be perfect. Takes a while to break in but soooo good looking.

I ordered 6 different pairs of Docs (no joke) trying to find the perfect fit. I thought the super-soft leather versions or the zip versions would be best, but nope... I ended up with these. My feet run a little narrow and these felt like the best fit without speciality insoles (which I normally need to make boots fit). They definitely feel narrower than the unisex Docs. I wear an 8.5 US women's and I went with the 8 US women's. They remind me of the Docs I had in high school, except a lovely muted purple. I thought surely I wouldn't be up for the awful break-in period that I remember from those days, but it wasn't that bad! I took it slow... I wore them a couple hours a day for a few days and once the heel had softened up enough I could wear them all day. They were a little bit tight with wool socks, but have stretched out comfortably. I hope these last a very, very long time.

I love these boots! Very great style and versatile with different clothes! A little note on the fit: I originally bought these in a women's 8. I have wide, 7.5 feet, and I also need additional arch support, so I wear inserts. Most size 8 shoes accommodate for my wide feet and inserts, but these actually ended up being very big. Even with inserts and thicker socks, my foot was sliding around and my heel was lifting up off the sole. I ordered a 7 (since there is no 7.5). I was worried that they would run too small, but despite my wide feet the fit is much better! With inserts, they are still a bit snug on the top part of my foot, but after a day of wearing them, I can feel them stretching out. If I take my inserts out, they are a perfect fit!

I bought these for my daughter and she loves them. She has a narrow size 7 1/2 foot and I bought her these in a size 7. With thick socks, she said they fit great. They are a bit stiff to begin with, but after a few wears, she says that they are comfy. This is a super cute style that looks slick and not at all clowny or clunky, as some combat boots can be.

I love the classic style and the understated color purple. It’s great way to add color to your outfit and be comfortable.

This boot is super cute! I've always wanted a pair of doc martens but I've been on the fence because I didn't want to look like I have clown feet. I usually am a true 8 when it comes to shoes and I have pretty narrow feet. I would definitely recommend sizing down especially if your feet are a little more narrow. I ended up getting the size 7 and while they area little snug, just wearing them around my house I can already feel that I'm breaking them in! Also, the cherry red definitely looks more black so if you want more of a red I would recommend getting a different style.

So I am 51 and never had a pair of Doc Martens before this. I bought a bunch of long dresses for winter and wanted some boots to wear with them. To address some of the negative reviews, the leather does not feel fake or look plastic-y to me. I bought the black cherry color, and they are BEAUTIFUL. I bought a size 9 women (41 euro), while I normally wear 8 1/2 in most shoes. These are definitely too long and kind of wide on me. My foot is exactly 10 inches long. However, these don’t run in half sizes so I decided to keep them instead of returning them and exchanging for the smaller size, which may or not fit me. I read a whole bunch of these reviews, and they were all over the place as far as which size to order, so I took a gamble and bought a larger size. I ended up being glad I did size up because I can tie the laces to make them feel truer to size. When I lace them up all the way tight, my heel doesn’t lift and it doesn’t really bother me that there is extra room in the toe. I would rather that than have the toe rub on the front of the shoe, as some reviewers have noted. These are comfortable and the sole has a nice give and kind of bouncy feel to the rubber. Mine were made in Thailand; it’s interesting to note some people have said theirs were made in Vietnam or China. I kept them rather than return them and risk getting a leather I didn’t like or something rubbing me the wrong way. I don’t have any pain where the tongue meets the shoe as some have noted. I wear fairly thick socks with these. You almost have to wear a sock that extends above the boot so you don’t have rubbing on the back of your calf from the boot. Overall, I am a satisfied customer and plan to wear these for many years.

I absolutely love these boots! I usually wear a 7 and ordered 7’s. Fits perfectly. They’re very stiff but after the 2nd day wearing them out they’re starting to loosen up and break in nicely. I can’t wait until they’re really comfortable. People stare at them when I’m out in public, I assume it’s because they’re so awesome!!

Doc martens are the best! This color purple is amazing. Worth every penny and these will last for 20 years or more

I had a few pairs of Doc Martens in the 90s and sadly these are not the same. :( I wear a women's size 8 in regular shoes so the first pair of 1460 W boots I ordered were a size 6. They felt at least a size too big. I had a lot of room in the front of the shoe, and in the back, my heel was lifting up and out of the shoe and I was sure that would cause a blister. Other than the fit, the quality seemed great on this pair, which were made in Vietnam. I returned those and ordered one size smaller (size 7) and they were too snug. I think that was probably closer to the right size for me and I would just need them to break in, but they felt tight and uncomfortable. I can't believe there was such a discrepancy between sizes! But this second pair I received seemed to be made of a much thinner, cheaper leather. When I checked under the tongue I saw this pair was made in China. There is definitely a difference in quality with the pair I had received earlier. And I don't think either pair compares to the quality of the docs I had in the 90s, which I wore daily for years, even in rain and snow, and they lasted forever. I'm grateful for the great Zappos return policy but sad that Doc Marten's quality seems to have declined so much.

These are great boots. Ordered the red and thought they sent black when I opened the box- that’s how dark they are, however I love them. I am a 7.5 and ordered a 7 and they fit perfectly.

These (purple) Doc Martens are my first ones ever. I've tried other models on before, and was surprised, that this style (1460W) doesn't have that common Dr Martens seam problem - where the seam digs into flesh between the shoe's tongue and the shoe body, which hurts like hell even when just trying the shoe. Also, having ordered this pair blindly (they don't carry this model in our country) as I've loved the colour, I was afraid the shoes will be too wide for my narrow/average feet - as I was absolutely sure W stands for WIDE, and there's no website that clarifies that in the whole wide internet!!! :D Thank you thank you, the reviewers who've explained that W stands for Womens'. My foot length is 24,4mm, I always wear EU39 in Converse and Timberland. I chose US8/UK6/EU39 in these and they fit just right. The Pascal MET model in Silver, that I've also received in identical size, actually fit like they're a whole size too small for me - I could barely take a few steps in them. I have sensitive feet - they start going numb in 5 minutes, if the shoe is tight in any place. This happened with 1460W pair as well - it's a bit tight in the sides of the upper curve of the foot, however I'm sure it'll fix itself after a couple of wears or my "rite of wearing in". PRO TIP: How I usually wear in my all thick/stiff leather shoes: I pour some vodka on thick socks, put socks on, then put on the shoes and walk around/sit in them (with wet feet inside the boots) at home for a couple of hours. It does nothing at all to the feet, but any leather shoes usually become perfectly molded to my feet after just one time of doing this! And since vodka evaporates quickly, the shoes will be dry and ready to wear in a couple of hours.

I usually wear a 6.5 or 7 but the 7 felt more like 7.5 or 8 to me. Classic shoe though. I'll return and try the 6.

I purchased the black patent leather pair and they are adorable!!! I also had the shoes, sandals and boots in the 90’s and remember loving them but thinking they were heavy- these are lightweight and so cute

Cherry Red Arcadia. Super cute boot. I was hoping they would have the logo printed on the outside of the boots. Apparently this style does not. But I love them.

I normally wear a women’s 9 & have slightly wider than normal feet. The recommended size US 9/UK 7/ EU 41 fit well. I love the purple color. Doc’s never have enough arch support for my flat feet, but this pair of 1460 W accommodated my half orthotics well. The leather is quite soft, so I don’t anticipate a long break-in period.

The 1460W Nappa Leather boots were my "just right" Doc Martens. They were the 4th pair I ordered and did not have to return because the fit was off or uncomfortable, including a pair of Made in England 1460's. I usually wear a Woman's Size 9M, and these are perfect. My first day, I walked in a parade and was smiling the whole time.
