Bought these shoes two or three years ago, wore them almost every single day. The amount of abuse these shoes have endured while maintaining wear-ability is incredible. They're now my drumming/house shoes, only now do I have to replace them due to the left shoe falling apart at the heel. Probably the least water resistant shoes I've ever owned though. Bear that in mind and it's easy to plan around. Great shoe, probably buying another pair at some point down the road!

Compared to other New Balance Classics shoes, this pair was quite a bit more narrow than marked.

Ordered these for my grandson who is 13 yrs old with a slender build. He wears a wide width and these "wides" were much too narrow! Disappointing as we loved the style. If he's just a kid I'm wondering how grown men who wear a wide width are able to wear this shoe. C'mon New Balance - the EEE widths in your brand look like they're styled for old men!

Initial size did not fit and Zappos customer service was outstanding in getting me the second pair. Kudos to them, they are indeed the best in the biz in that department. In regards to the shoe it runs slightly narrower than your average New Balance shoe I've had in the past including more higher reference models. Overall a classic comfortable shoe.

Very comfortable and 2E is wide enough. Inconsistent build quality from one pair to another, though. I've owned two pairs and one of pair started coming apart at the sole while the other one held together fine.

Good shoes that are pretty nice for sneakers. Could use a little more arch support, but they're pretty comfortable. Be sure to size up half a size and up a width, they run small.

I ordered a 9.5 because I am usually a 9.5 in my Nike's but when the shoe arrived it was small and it hurt my toes and it was narrow. But I exchanged them for a 10 and made it wide. It fitted comfortably. Shipping was very fast at Zappos and their customer service is friendly and excellent!

I really loved this shoe as soon as I saw it. Unfortunately, the EE size which normally fits me with any New Balance shoe, did not and there are no wider sizes. That's too bad, I really wanted this shoe.

Great all-around shoe. The green is not too bright so they match most things and the materials are pretty durable so you don't have to worry about beating them up too much. The only minor issue is that they's a bit tight in the toe area. I actually had to return and go up a size.

Overall pretty good. I wear a size 12. However, I had to go up to a 13 in these. The toe box was a bit narrow and my big toe was rubbing up against the other side. Other than that, no complaints so far.

Nice shoe. I wear a 10EEE although I ordered a 10EE because of the lack of availability of the wider size. My left leg is also 3/4" shorter than my right and a heel lift is required. When I put the lift in and tried them on, the shoes were just a little snug. After a couple of hours working in the yard, they feel exactly as they should. Very happy with them.

It seems standard sizes are shrinking. I take a 12 Wide in uniform oxfords. This shoe fits best when 13 Wide. Order a size larger; and it still needs some break-in time but is not so stiff that running or walking is painful in the toes.

Nice looking shoe, and appears to be well-built. But, they were tight and narrow, even though I ordered a 12 wide. I find that New Balance's sizing, as with many other brands, is not consistent. I own other NB shoes that fit me just fine.

Love the shoe but runs much smaller than what I thought. I have the same brand shoe in a different color in a size 11.5 that still fits and I bought a size 12 and they fit like a whole size smaller. Returning for a size up.

Very good value, heel width is spot on, however toe box needs to be widened.

I do not run long races anymore but for 10K,or less, these are the best shoes that I have ever owned. You do not need the top of the line. The mid-priced shoes are just as good.

Quite red. More red than burgundy, I'd say. I pretty much only wear new balances though, so I def recommend any color.

Kind of a cool shoe. I'd gone over to the New Balance minimus trail shoe for an everyday walk around with jeans and liked the feel, but it is so perforated that was always getting dust and sand or whatever in it. And it didn't look all that cool with jeans, plus not much protection if you kick or drop something. I run in minimus and can't beat them for that, and they have a nice ground feel when I go photo shooting, but otherwise not an everyday jean shoe. With the surfeit of weird colors and styles that are now the trend, the best I could find was between the cool retro Onitsuka Tigers and these 574's. Since the minimal style didn't do it for me anymore, I rolled the dice on the 574's as they had a touch more boot look to them than the more form-fitting tigers. Got the black because I live in L.A. (joke) and they go well with jeans. Also, as a photog, I don't like big bright shoes when I'm sneaking up on someone. Out the box they fit perfect, and surprisingly were quite comfortable (surprising as I was used to paying lots more for decent trainers, like Air Max's and the like). They did look a bit too much like a long balloon on my foot, but I tightened the laces to where they should be, and used the ankle lace holes, and it gave them more of a shoe/climber boot look. They are a bit more substantial with my jeans, don't look so much like slippers, and I can tell they will be more protective as I'm walking about aiming the camera, or if I have to help someone move and drop something on my foot as I did in the minimus and regretted it. They do look pretty cool with jeans, very much that retro athletic look I had in high school wearing the Adidas Romas. As they break in with walking I'm sure they will lose the balloon look altogether, and have that track shoe/climber shoe quality they give off in the online pictures to some extent. For the price I don't think they can be beat. One of the few styles these days that doesn't have wings, bizarro sole technologies that seem like a moon shoe, or colors that look like Walt Disney threw up on them. Can't think of a negatory thing to say. Will note that I have always been the guy to get the expensive technical athletic shoe in black to use as a everyday kick around shoe. Like the very cool Salomon trail shoes that looked amazing in online pictures and turned out to be more akin to moon boots. Most technical shoes I forked over the cash for didn't offer more in comfort than these 574's, and tended to wear the wearer rather than look like a true sport shoe without taking over. If you like the '70s and '80s colors and different fabrics, these offer the choices. I'm glad they had them in black. My only request is to make them in a non-suede full on black and they'd be perfect. The non-suede black they have now has white soles and other white accents looking okay, but not the full on black us sophisticated egos in L.A. want. Great shoe.

I originally ordered a size 14 which was too tight. Returned them for a size 15. Those were way to large. Finally ordered a 14 wide and that did the trick, they fit perfect. Great looking shoe, I'm glad I went through the process of finding the right fit.

It is a little hard to tell from the pictures, but this shoe has a plastic piece wrapping around the heel directly above the sole. This was especially pronounced and shiny on the pair of shoes I ordered, which had that section colored white. For me, the shoe ran about half a size small, but seemed reasonably comfortable on first wear. Mine came with white laces on the shoe, with a set of grey laces in the box. It was nice of New Balance to include a second set. Overall, if you don't mind the somewhat chunky looking plastic bit on the back, just order a half size up, and you'll be fine.

Perfect sneakers. I use these for running errands and casuals days. They hold up well for the lower-end New Balances.

Received these and appearance was as displayed. However, they were too small/tight, etc. This was in EE? Don't think so.

Good shoes that were comfortable to walk on. I wore them every day for a year and they worked wonderfully.

I bought these because I love the style, but I can't say the same for the comfort. These shoes are extremely narrow (if you have a wider foot). I upgraded to the EE, but my foot still cramps after a couple hours of wear. Great looking shoe, though.
