This shoe is my main 'go to' shoe. It is just right for work, going out, weddings, funerals and the like. I would highly recommend this shoe as it is a no brainer when thinking of what shoe to wear for ANY occasion. This is my second pair and will not be my last. The only caution I would have is to be prepared for a couple of weeks of a break-in period as the leather and uppers need to be broken in. Also, the bend in the shoe tends to be more pronounced on this version of the shoe than prior, meaning that it would be a good idea to buy a shoe tree along with such a great shoe.

I bought these shoes to compare with the Bostonian Advance. While these shoes are very stylish, a bit more so than the Bostonian. Out of the box, the Edgar was a bit more stiff than the Bostonian. The appearance was certainly more formal. I liked the fit-appearance of the Edgar, as these shoes made my feet appear shorter/smaller than the Bostonian Advance. Although I really preferred the overall look and style of the Edgar, ultimately, I chose the Bostonian, simply because, out of the box, the Bostonian was more comfortable. Another important factor for me was the bottom of shoes. The Edgar has a smooth bottom - great for dancing and the like, however, living in Minnesota and having to contend with snow and ice, the Bostonian provided a textured bottom.

This is a very nice looking shoe, and my first pair of cap-toe shoes with leather soles. I bought these because I was not yet ready to purchase a pair of $300+ shoes, although that will be my next purchase. If you are new to leather soles, they take some getting used to, but they look much classier than a pair of rubber soles. These shoes are well made and shine up nicely. The only complaint I had was one of the shoes laces was frayed, but it was not enough of a problem to return them. I have had these shoes for about a month, and am happy so far. I would buy another pair of Florsheim's.

I was trying to find a replacement for an older style, the Millport...but this wasn't it. This shoe seemed difficult to put on, and I realized there are fewer eyelets, so I'll have to return it and keep looking.

This shoe does not take a high gloss spit shine. I will use it in the office, but not for dressy ocassions. Some of you guys don't get what "a dress shoe" is. It is though a very comfortable shoe that takes very little to break in.

The shoe felt a bit smaller than stated size but it was very comfortable when my husband first put it on. He thought he would really like these shoes so he went off on a business trip with them. Only the comfortable shoes turned uncomfortable very fast. The back of the shoe was so rigid that it just dug into his Achilles and gave him blisters. We are hoping to return but don't know if we can since he wore them.

I forgot my 20 year old pair of Florsheims at my summer home. I had the shoe shop replace worn leather often over the years. They are great for dancing which I do a lot. So, I ordered online a replacement Florsheim size 9. Unfortunately, my heels slip in these shoes. Why? I do not know. I cannot return them since I did wear them once to go dancing. I also ordered a show expander, but it was too large and there were no instructions. Also, the synthetic soles prevent dancing in them. So I ordered a size 8-1/2 pair of replacement shoes with leather soles which I returned recently when the expander got stuck in them.

My husband has been wearing the Florsheim Edgar for at least 10 years (I order him a new pair each year, but it is the same color, style). He has always been satisfied until his most recent pair. They squeak. A lot. So much so that he says people turn their heads when he walks down the hallway. Back they go! I will order another pair, hoping for the same great shoe we have received over the past 10 years.

Generally, the size and width are fine, but they are a little loose above the foot. A related problem is that these shoes have almost no cushioning. Consequently, my foot moves around too much in the shoe and causes the laces to come untied too frequently.
I've ordered the Florsheim insoles to see if they will help but I really shouldn't have to.
(Note that my previous Florsheim shoe purchases were perfect.)

Nice looking shoe, but it started making an annoying squeaking noise after only a week. This same thing happened to my last pair of Florsheims. Since both pairs had the same flaw, my next pair will likely be a different brand

I've worn this brand for the last 10 years. Every pair has been great, except this one. It is sad but I will probably not buy the brand again. This pair is the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever had, bar none.
