Here's my follow up review... Now that I've warn them for a while they still feel a little tight when I first put them on. They are made out of too soft, open grain leather for a heavy work boot & scuff a little too easily. I think they're a little pricey for what you get, but am generally satisfied with them.

DM's are the Buisness - Great Boots comfy, not too heavy, water resistant, good grip on the soles. Down side: they were made in CHINA instead of England!! And, wish they were also made without the steel toe.

New riding boots found! I also purchased these to use as riding boots. I wish I would have known about them (if they existed) back when I used to work automotive. I would not have minded one bit walking around in these 10 hours a day. So far so good. They have broken in quickly with about two weeks of wear. Hardly any wear from the shifter to speak of. These are tough, comfy and seemingly waterproof. I have ridden several days in the rain and not even moist inside. I wish I could say the same for my alpinestars. Hopefully they last as long as the other pair of Docs I wear daily, which are going on at least 4-5 years now.

Good boot for motorcycling - Bought this for riding because it has ankle protection and a steel toe. VERY comfortable even riding a BMW R75 in the summer. Grips oily/goopy ground quite well and has lasted for a lot of walking and riding Only drawback is the leather cannot be polished or cleaned very well. Scratches and scuffs show quite well. The shifter on an Aprilla Tuono shredded the toe of my left boot.

This is my husbands second pair. The shoe is true to size and ordered an extra wide size 11. However I would expect the uppers to be wider on the calf. They cut into my husbands legs for now until they stretch. Make them larger at the top for our hard working men. He only wears xl clothes so doesn’t have large calves. You would think the xl in the shoe would continue to the upper boot.

The overall look of the boot is great!! The fit was good only with a thin sock. I would go up a size next time. But, they are very hard to put on and difficult take off.

My wife ordered these boots in a men's 9 for work. They fit lengthwise but are far too tight. While she does have wide feet she can normally wear men's standard width (D) but not in these boots. Returning to try the wide width.

Just ordered my second pair of these boots after the soles on my first pair split across the ball of my foot. Couldn’t be fixed. They’ve been comfortable and in like the traction I have on oily walkways on a drilling rig. Given that the soles on my first pair failed so quickly, I’d rather have ordered something else, but these fit the budget for my boot allowance at work. I’m going to get another year out of these new one’s before they have any issues like the last pair. The waxed leather on the Greenland color boots feels a little more stiff compared to my previous black pair. Not a huge deal, and I’m sure they’ll soften up a bit with wear.

My husband has narrow feet and is a size 11 ninety-nine percent of the time, but these boots were too small. Since Doc Martens don't come in half sizes, he felt that a 12 would be too big. They were very nice looking boots though. Sadly we have to figure out another option.

I found these boots to fit small . I ordered size 11 and my size 11 feet couldn't handle the pain .I would buy again ,but I`ll take an 11.5 .

I've bought Docs many times in the past for work boots (I'm a construction engineer) but these were a little tighter than I'd hoped. Going back unfortunately.

The boots look great. They are not the most uncomfortable steel toe shoe/boot that I have encountered over the last 15 years of wearing them, but the toe box is snug. I have a crazy small foot and ordered the medium width...I have never ordered a wide in Dr. Martens and didn't do so for these boots. (But I probably should have.) The arch support is nonexistent. I haven't found the right arch support insert yet that will fit in the boot and not cause my foot to rub on top. I'm keeping the boots, but they will not be worn for their intended purpose of a work shoe. They are not comfortable enough to wear on concrete for 10-12 hours a day.

I've owned these boots and worn them regularly for almost a year. First the good part: these boots look really great, they don't take any time to break in and they're so easy to take on and off. The padded ankle is a comfort feature that also helps stabilize the boot on your foot. On the downside, the footbed lacks padding. I wear a size 9.5US and these boots in a size 9US fit well even after a sole insert. Still, they're not really comfortable on my feet after a full day's work. My toes can feel the edge of the steel toe plate too. Second, I wear them for work on a farm and despite weekly cleaning and mink oil treatment, the leather is cracking and seams are starting to open. To be fair, not many brands of boots last long on a farm, unless you pay much more. My advice: wear them mainly for the looks, use them for light-duty home improvement projects, but these are not really 'industrial' strength work boots.

I have owned these for six months, and they have been great as everyday work boots and about as good looking as a work boot gets. The original insoles were not terribly comfortable, so some Dr. Scholl's were needed. I had no major complaints until I stepped in a small puddle today and my left foot was soaked immediately. I knew that this should not be the case, so I checked the boot and found that the sole of the left boot had split all the way through right at the ball of my foot. I took a look at the right boot and it is starting to split at the same spot. The boots still have plenty of tread, so it is not like I wore through the bottoms. It is a shame, too because I really like the boots, but I do not think that I will be purchasing another pair.

I have always worn Doc Martens and I thought these boots looked cool online. I received the boots and they are so tough. These are the hardest boots I have ever had to break in. I am not even wearing them anymore because the right boot seems to be tighter than the left. I have a lump on my right foot from trying to stretch it out and the boots rub your skin raw on your shins if your socks slip down.

These boots are incredibly comfortable. I am on my second pair, but on each pair the leather has worn through on the toe, revealing the steel toe underneath. The boots are still wearable, but they don’t look so great. Zappos, however, sent a replacement pair. Overall, good work boots.

Not the same as the old Drs were - These boots look awesome and they are super comfy, especially for a steel toe. However, the second time I wore them, I yanked the straps on the side (which are known as bootstraps for pulling them on) and the stitching ripped. Not a big deal. I can drop them at the shoe store to get it enforced, but I shouldn't have to go through that with brand new boots. They are slightly tight on the arch, but I do have a very high arch. The steel toe goes unrecognizable, which is important during wear. The leather is nice and besides the straps, the construction is nice, but original Drs were much nicer. I would recommend the boot, just be careful pulling them on and off!

Comfort - The boots were purchased for my son he works on a concrete floor 12-14 hours a day. The first day he wore them his feet hurt so bad we had to purchase gel insoles for them. The inside should be designed with more cushion and memory foam etc.

OK boots, but still looking for better. These boots are heavy and hot, but they are comfortable right out of the box. There is not much arch support but they flex well. I am going to keep looking for the perfect boot but these did come close.
I'd also recommend:
These are very simular to Wolverines only less break in time.

I don't think I would buy another pair. Unlike the other pairs of Doc's that I have owned, I don't think that I would buy a second pair of these. They do not run true to size. They run at least a half size to a full size larger. They are not very supportive. I think I would stick with boot's that lace up in the future. There is a lot of movement in the ankles of these boots. They are just as durable as all the other Doc's I have owned. I will order shoes or boots again from Zappos. I received free next day shipping. I ordered them on a Sunday afternoon; they were at my door the next day, Monday 10 a.m.

These shoes are great except they do need some breaking in. The top of the boat tear into my calfs which makes them very uncomfortable. Other than that I like the way they look, like I said they just need some breaking in. I tried ordering them from the official web site but I found that Zappos offer the best service and convenience. I highly recommend this site for all you foot needs.

OK Boots - Not the same quality as the previous doc's I have owned, but all of those were made in England. Overall not a bad boot, but do seem slightly small to size. It would be nice if this pair were available in half sizes.
