I bought my secod pair of Mephisto Shark sandels from Zappos. The sandals are great on your feet for distance walking and the service provided by Zappos is outstanding in all respects.

Took these brand new to Rome and walked, walked, walked - supremely comfortable and really well made, as you would expect given the price; but they're worth it!

Marvelously comfortable, outrageously priced sandal, but worth every penny. For those with delicate feet, the padding on the interior of the straps is a godsend. Used to own Clark's version of this style - also padded and excellent - but seemingly no longer available. Mephisto arch support is most comfortable. Clodhopper sole looks indestructible. Only quibble is the snap catch which is difficult to undo. One has to press and press before it will unlock. Otherwise a most perfect sandal.

The D width is too wide for my feet, so I’ll try them with a pair of crew socks for cool weather wear. Buckle is a real pain to close. I have worn ECCO Yucatán sandals for years and love them, but they get pretty ratty looking after a long season of wear. I was hoping these would be an improvement, but not so!

The sandals have two spikes on the back strap – see the picture with the spikes circled in blue. These spikes rub the back of my foot – unpleasant or worse. I would much prefer not to have them. If they are there to make the sandals look better, then I do not share their sense of beauty.

What a disappointment! These are the nicest men’s sandals I have ever seen and the combination of brown and black works with everything. Most people find them extremely comfortable, but my husband simply could not get them not to rub his Achilles’ tendon in the back. There is only the two adjustments, near the toes and in the front of the ankle (some sandals have a third in the back of the ankle) and there was just no tightening it. Sigh!

Very comfortable. The soft heal support is wonderful. My only complaint is that it is somewhat tricky to engage the clasp by feel.

I think I was stuck in that middle size. 9 was too big, 8 was too small. Too bad they don't make 1/2 sizes. The sandal was a little too heavy for me. The strap near the toes was what did it for me, after 5 minutes or so it felt like it was an extremely thick tight turtle neck on that part of my foot. The comfort everywhere else was amazing though. It's an extremely well made shoe.

I have found it to be comfortable and easy to put on. I am disappointed in the ability to adjust the top strap to make it more firm across the top and back. I ware a 9 and half but got a 10 and the top strap just does not give me sufficient space to adjust. If I felt there was a way to send it back and get a better fit I would.

The Mephisto Shark is comfortable, and may actually be as foot-healthy as the company and reviewers claim, but for the high price tag, these sandals need to be perfect. They are far from perfect, so I'm returning them. The issues I found where: They are too bulky overall. I don't like the buckles, which add bulk, allow only minimal strap adjustment, and the plastic clips are likely to break. The curved heel strap shape is unnecessary and a bit annoying when I walk. The fit was slightly too large. My heel slips out. I wear 10.5 runners and bought size 10 sandals. I didn't care for the two-tone strap colors, black & brown, or the Mephisto branding on upper strap. So, I kept searching and found another sandal brand that will work for me and has replaceable insoles, which blows my mind, so I'm going with those instead.

Very comfortable sandals, if a little heavy. I'm younger than some folks who buy these. Too many of my hip friends said that these were a bit on the frumpy side for me to keep them.

To me, these felt like strapping pieces of wood onto my feet. The footbed and sole have no "give" whatsoever. I was told they soften up over time. But the expert who told me that couldn't say how much they'd soften up, or how long it would take. So back they went. Bummer, because the uppers are extremely comfortable and I like the look. No other reviewer has noted this issue, so maybe my feet require more cushioning than others'. But I thought I'd put my experience out there anyway.

I first ordered this in US 9, which is the smallest size I ever where. Too Big. Now US 8, still too big. The problem is not just that the sizing is completely wrong, the heel strap won't adjust, making a snug fit difficult

Disappointing, the fit was not great and my heal complained after 10 minutes and the ability to adjust the fit was very limited. Worst of all they made a LOUD squeaking sound on smooth surfaces, not what I would expect of a product of this price.

These feature solid construction, good materials, and a secure foothold. They are slightly bulky and the materials are dense, which make these less suitable for hot weather because they are more like shoes than sandals.

Mephisto is known for its high quality and this shoe appears to continue in that tradition. The one drawback to me is that it has very little ability to be adjusted to tighten or loosen. I tried two different sizes and could never get either one to feel tight enough on my feet to feel comfortable.

I didn't find the comfort of these sandals was commensurate with the price. Gap in the hook and loop strap made getting proper strap adjustment extremely difficult.

I found these sandals very heavy, spongy bottoms (couldn't feel the ground) and very plastic like with tons if not all synthetic materials. That was not what I was looking for.

Not for a wide foot, straps not long enough, or shoe design just too narrow.
