This is a quality shoe: well made, supportive, comfortable, and attractive. It's perfect for those who have "foot issues" requiring more support than is afforded in most sandals, yet it's stylish.

My feet thank you, Mephisto! My friend has been wearing these for years. She said they were super comfortable and the only sandals that she wears. I took a chance and bought the Helen. The pair I got squeaked, and Zappos was outstanding (seriously they provide excellent customer service) and offered to replace them. I then ordered another pair in the snake skin. I have already gotten compliments on them, and they are really comfortable. I have a bad Achilles and get plantar fasciitis and these have saved my feet. Yeah, they may not be a high fashion statement, but I am also not complaining about my feet hurting! I may have to get a third pair! Use a tape measure to get your size. It worked perfectly for me.

Best sandals ever! They are supportive, wide enough for wide feet, comfortable, and beautifully stylish. These are my favorite sandals and I own them in many colors. If Birkenstocks just don't feel good on your feet because the arch is in the wrong spot, these may be much better!

Great color, comfortable and well made. I got the narrow as this type of shoe can sometimes feel like they're "swimming" on my foot and it's perfect. I was hesitant to keep the sandal at first because the top leather was a bit stiff but, it relaxed after one wearing.

I bought two pairs of these as I have had another pair for over two years and wear them all the time. These are great for my arch support and never bug my feet. I wore them walking for 12 hours on vacation and never had blisters and did not have to worry about the slit between by toes as it is very comfortable. There is no breaking these in, like some shoes, going from winter to spring. These are ready to go and completely comfortable. You won't regret walking your legs off in these. I put a lot of miles on mine and I love them!

Really nice sandals. Stylish plus good support. Love that combination! And Mephistos tend to last a long time. My only issue: Zappos was out of the nubuck in my size, so I tried 2 pairs. One in my regular size in nubuck and one in the the black waxed leather in a size larger. The larger size fit, but the waxed leather rubbed my foot uncomfortably around the toes. The nubuck was much softer and more comfortable, but the foot bed was too small. And yes, these do run small.

Mephisto never fails to amaze me! This is my third pair and I am never disappointed. The arch support is perfect for my foot and I love the adjustable strap, since my foot is a bit on the narrow side. As usual, Zappos delivered the very next day. Thanks, Zappos.

I wear Mephisto sandals because they are the only ones that my podiatrist says provide good support for my feet. She says that sandals should be fairly rigid (not flexible and bending a lot from front to back). These are quite rigid with a very comfortable footbed. I can walk in them all day. I got the "scuffed brown" and the black leather.

I live in these sandals all summer. They are stylish and provide great arch support. This pair is a replacement for a pair that I bought six years ago and finally wore out. They are a bit pricey but worth every penny.

I have fairly sensitive feet when it comes to straps, etc so I was not sure how these sandals would work. I have got to say that they felt terrific from the start: true fit all around and great arch support (a weakness in many sandals). They look very nice as well and once again the Zappos service and selection can't be beat!

I love the Mephisto Helen! I have ordered a pair of these every summer for years. I always get compliments on the style of these. This year I ordered the beautiful mint color with gold swirls; Mint Nairobi. It is even more beautiful then the picture showed. These sandals are so comfortable right out of the box. If you have plantar fasciitis then this is the sandal for you! If you have a half size, you will want to order a half size up. Your foot should fit inside the shoe box. The way the thong toe is designed makes it comfortable right away and does not rub your toe. I love Zappos quick delivery and return policy too!

I absolutely love these sandals. I like them better than Birkenstocks. They are way more comfortable. And, while some Mephistos look like old lady shoes, these are very cute on. Every time I put them on, I go sigh because they feel so good. I am ordering a pair in another color for an upcoming trip. And of course I'm using Zappos because of their free shipping and free returns, not to mention great customer service. Thanks Zappos!

Very supportive and comfortable. Minimum break-in time. This silver color is spot-on! Goes with everything. I ordered my usual size. Strap is adjustable.

These are great! I bought a pair of Mephistos last year and loved them but didn't get a chance to wear them that much due to the color not being neutral. I decided to go for this style in the Silver Nairobi color and I love them! The color of these are very cool - depending on the light, you can pick up a purple or a variety of blues in the leather. They will go with a variety of things I have and are incredibly comfortable. I can't wait to wear them on my upcoming trip to the Caribbean! I also love the fact that you can adjust the buckles to your liking. I feel like buying another pair.

I have only been able to wear these shoes in the house because it is cold outside. I feel like they give me better posture and seem to be a great walking shoe. Can't wait for spring to start wearing them everyday. They will go well with capris and summer pants. They do not look clunky at all. I love them!!! They fit true to size. Do not size down.

This is my second pair - so comfortable right out of the box, durable and nice looking. I can walk many miles in these sandals because they support my foot so well. I'm normally a size 10, with a narrower foot. I went up to size 11 and they fit perfectly. The bigger size gives my toes the room they need. I tried a 10 and my toes rubbed on the upturned front edge. The foot bed turns up around the edges. You have to be inside of that upturn or your toes will get sore.

This is a very nice shoe! Looks very sharp! Mephisto is a very comfortable shoe. I have a very hard time finding comfortable shoes. I had a knee replacement 2 years ago. Merrell shoes also are extremely comfortable. I can not say enough how wonderful Zappos are to deal with. They go out of their way to please you! Always when I call Zappos, the sales people are so nice. It a real pleasure doing business with Zappos. Great company!

Wanted this shoe last year and didn't order it but decided to do so in anticipation of an upcoming trip. Like how they look and they fit me much better than the Birkenstock sandal that I was also tried. Thanks, Zappos for making it so easy to compare sizes and styles.

These Mephistos are incredible. Fit is true to size and no breaking in is needed. My last pair lasted for at least 3 years and I wore them often. The sole is very thick and provides a lot of support for a sandal. I can walk all day in them and never tire. The arch support is substantial, which relieves the need for my orthotics - that is truly amazing. I'll wear these forever if they're available. The best sandal I've ever had.

This is my 3rd pair in maybe 20 years. They're my around the house, super-marketing, cooking shoes. Indispensable!

I'm extremely happy with my purchase of the Mephisto sandals. I have knee trouble and have used these sandals for quite a few years. They are very comfortable and offer the support I need. Though I wear them for the support, I have received many compliments on them over the years.

Right out of the box review: I usually wear 7½ in flats and shoes. I ordered an 8 in these. They fit great. The brand recommends making sure you have some space above your toe. I did not do that. I could have sized up, but that would have been too big. For now, they are pretty comfortable. I do not know how they would wear after good amount of use and if I made a bad decision. But let me emphasize. They do look like slippers. Zero fashion points. Worse than Birkestocks. I use them as slippers indoors. I would never wear them outside and would be embarrassed to be caught wearing these in public. They might work if your style is mom/granny style. Or you are into lounge wear. Or super casual. They creak a little. I hope that goes away soon. Lots of people have been complaining about needing shoes that travel well for hours at a stretch or are made for walking. I highly recommend Chole Haan Nike Air Tech flats. Or Oxfords with rubber soles. Lots of brands make them. I guess in the slippers category, this is as good as it gets.

I have been wearing these best fit and feel sandals for over 17 years now. I can only afford one every 2-3 years, however I still have and wear every pair purchased.

I bought what I think is this exact same sandal (made in Portugal) in about 1988, branded as Land's End from their catalog. The sandal was comfortable and wore like iron, but now 26 years later it was time to replace them. I started looking about 2 years ago and found these but was reluctant to pay 3 times more (!) than what I paid in 1988. I finally bit the bullet and bought them this summer. Overall, I am pleased, especially since my left foot is a 1/2 size bigger than the right and I have extremely high insteps. Although The Air-Relax midsole is very comfortable, for my smaller foot, the adjustable buckling strap on the new sandal initially cut into my instep and the thong seemed to rub between my toes. I finally realized with the help of the printed info from Mephisto that I had to loosen that strap so my heel fell into the heel cup appropriately, even though there is quite a bit of extra room up in the toe area. They did take longer to break in than I remember the old pair, but then my memory 26 years later isn't as good as it used to be. At any rate, they are much more comfortable now after making adjustments. After the edges of the leather straps soften up a bit more, I am confident I'll have this pair for another 26 years - they'll probably outlive me.

Love the comfort of these shoes. They are high quality and well worth the price. I have them in three colors. If you suffer from sore feet after wearing sandals all day in the summer give these a try.
