I have worn the Mephisto Helen for years. It’s my all time favorite sandal. I’ve had it in many different colors and have loved them all. I have noticed that the standard leathers wear better than the patents.

If I could, I would wear these all day, every day. And Mephisto will refurbish them for less than the cost of a new pair.

This is the only sandal that I can wear. I have an embarrassing amount of these. I have flat feet and hip problems and I’m only 38??. These are the best looking (least orthotic) sandals I could find that don’t cause me pain. People ask me everywhere I go what brand they are. I live in Florida and wear them year round practically. I find them tts and true width. Different leathers are softer or more rigid. I wear a 7-71/2 and buy a 37.

These are my absolute favorite sandals. I bought my first Mephisto sandals before a 3-week trip to Europe in 2007 and have been a devotee ever since. The only reason I replaced them was they were a very pale suede and despite diligent efforts with a suede brush and eraser, they eventually just looked too dirty to wear even though they were still perfectly comfortable. I replaced them with the Desert Buffalo Leather Helens in 2011 for another trip overseas. I'm a travel photographer so I was on my feet from day to night for nine days. I got them right before I left and they needed no break in time. Since then I have also purchased Born, Teva, Taos, and Merrell sandals - all great brands but I found myself going back to the Mephistos again and again. I have flat feet, fibromyalgia and other autoimmune issues which sometimes cause my small narrow feet to swell, a repaired Achilles tendon, and a bad back ... not an easy job finding shoes I can walk in all day long. Although I have worn the brown leather Helens for seven summers now, they are still incredibly comfortable, give my feet great support - I walked six miles in them in Manhattan one day recently, carrying a backpack with my camera equipment - and they still look and feel like new. The leather is soft and supple and the footbed is so comfortable. They have held up better than any of my newer sandals. The weather will be too cool for sandals here in New York soon, but I am sitting here considering the Grey Etna Helen's to replace a pair of Taos that are ready for the donation bin after only a couple of summers. I have somewhat narrow feet and am closer to a size 5.5 than a 6 in sandals, but despite the generously wide footbed, the straps let me adjust them so the size 6's fit perfectly, and on those occasional days when my foot is suddenly much wider than normal due to swelling, it's easy to loosen them up a notch.

Great shoe but there's no fudge-factor with the contoured cork insoles - they fit or they don't. These were a half-size too big for me. I don't have a prayer though as I would need a 35.5 and finding those is as likely as a pig on a bicycle. So....although they are flattering, comfy, and gorgeously made, they have to go back.

I have these in several colors, and love them. Some are several years old, and fit better every year! I have a high instep, and these are amazingly comfortable.

Despite the soft leather and quality construction of this sandal, I had to return because the toe strap portion was a little snug on my slightly wide foot--which I KNEW would rub and cause a blister. It felt very comfortable on, but just not a good fit.

I love these sandals!! My normal shoe size is 7. As suggested, I ordered the 38 and they are perfect. You definitely want to size up a bit so your foot can mold into the base. I have flat feet and these shoes are really comfortable. There is nice support with the straps over the top of the foot. They are well worth the money!

Love these! Size 40 fit my 9.5 foot perfectly. Nice soft supple leather.

These were real comfortable for me! Much better than the birkenstock I purchased and returned . I couldn't tolerate the high arch support/hump in the middle of the Birkenstock. I still wanted a cork style shoe and even thought this was a tad bit more than the Birkenstocks it was well worth it. No break in period so soft and comfortable right out of the box:) These shoes have a cork bottom sole with a memory foam type material on top. SOOOOOO nice!!!! I wear a size 7 and ordered a size 37. Felt true to size.

I ordered these and the Hannel. These fit like a dream! I have never worn sandals with any kind of toe strap because I have very sensitive feet. I also have chronic back pain and recently developed nerve pain in my feet. I had tried on multiple pairs of sandals at a store which were all uncomfortable ( even Finn Comfort) I liked the look of these and decided to try them. You won't go wrong with these! I m returning the Hannels but only because the upper strap hurts my foot because I have a high arch. Love Zappos for their easy returns!

I've recently tried to replace my 5+ year old Helen's and have been having a lot of challenges with sizing. My original pair fit snug and comfy and were a 37. I've tried several 37's in the past few months and most are too big. I will exchange the most recent order for a 36 and hope that solves the problem. I'm normally a 7 or 7.5 regular (but run narrow). As far as a general review, I love the Helen sandals: good support, great design/feminine, and quality materials. Minimal, if any, break in period.

I love Mephistos sandals! I've tried a number of comfort sandals but return to this brand. The support is incredible--I've worn them all day while on vacation, through walking tours on hard pavement, spending days at Disneyland, and just running errands. They're a somewhat more stylish footbed--perhaps narrower?--while still accommodating my wide foot requirements due to the adjustable strap. I enjoy how well the sandals conform to my foot. I'll keep watching for additional colors and styles to refresh my wardrobe.

This is such a classic style, you really can't go wrong. The straps are strong but flexible so no blisters on the tops of my feet. I've had 3 pairs and can walk comfortably all day. If I had my choice, though, I'd prefer the insole on the black styles to be black -- looks a lot nicer.

Let me start by saying I gulped when I placed the order for this shoe...never spent this much for a pair of sandals! With that said they are worth every dime :-) The shoe feels as if it was custom made for my foot and they are much cuter in person than in the picture. I wear 39 in Dansko and the 39 was perfect in the Mephisto Helen. I have always been a bit of a shoe freak but as I've aged I need stability, support and comfort over style...happy to say didn't sacrifice the style in this case. I've already purchased another pair of Mephito sandals and wish I could afford more!

Wonderful sandal. Very supportive I'm just getting over a bout with plantar fasciitis and these do not make me flare. Really holds your foot in place. I now have 3 pairs. Fight true to size. I wear these and fitflop and oovos.

Extremely comfortable sandal! I debated between this one and the Birkenstock, and decided on the Helen -Mephisto is more narrow and less klunky looking. And the footbed is much more comfortable! I ordered both the size 7 and 8 and decided to keep the 7 as the 8 was just a bit big overall. I usually wear a 7.5 but unlike the other reviews that suggest sizing up if you are a half size, I feel like the half size down was best for me. I love the off white! I plan to order the black pair very soon!

Oh my gosh! These are my first pair of Mephisto shoes and definitely will not be the last! I was torn between these and Berks. I am so glad I chose these. A tad dressier. To me more comfortable and the arch is perfect. I have always had issues with my feet smelling with summer sandals. No smelling here! I think it's because of the holes I. The heal. It allows it to breathe. I wear an 8.5 shoe. I ordered the 9 and they fit perfectly. I wear these every single day!

I have been a fan of Mephisto for years.The Helen sandal has that wonderful cork bed that molds to your foot while its underlying shape provides support. My only concern is with my new pair I have the strap cinched down to the smallest size and these are brand new. I did not have to do this on previous pairs until the sandal loosened with wear.

These are the most comfortable sandals I've ever owned. I would never consider a sandal when walking long distances or for travel, but these have proved me wrong. Didn't take any time to break in and they go with all kinds of summer clothing including shorts, skirts/dresses, capris and jeans. The black seems to be a little more versatile. Love them and want to buy another color!

I'd given up thong sandals because arthritis made my feet unsteady in them. However, I recently dislocated my baby toe and couldn't stand to have anything touch it, so I shopped Zappos for a sturdy thong and found these Helens in a nice subtle red color. Skeptical about them running a size small, I ordered my regular size and the next size up. The bigger ones were perfect, and they were comfortable right away except for a slight irritation where the thong rubbed. I was able to take visiting friends sightseeing in them and managed to walk comfortably even with the bum toe. Love these sandals! They cost more than I would normally spend, but I've learned they're worth it!

These are extremely comfortable! I have severe plantar fascia pain but these are one of the few sandals that I can tolerate wearing. If you have no feet issues you will absolutely love them. They are light weight, the footbed is nice and soft, and well made.

this is my 4th pair of these awesome comfortable sandals, I wouldn't go through a summer of vacationing with out a pair of these, we do a lot of walking and site seeing on our vacations, and these are the most comfortable sandals I've ever worn when doing a lot of walking, Id give these a 10 star if they had one, buy these you will not be unhappy, they fit well, and you'll be ordering more like myself, 10 ***
