I read a lot of reviews before I purchased these. There were mixed reviews on the sizes so I decided to order both the 8 and 9 as there were a lot of people that went up a size. This did not happen with me as the 8 (which is what I usually take) fit great. They were comfortable from the day I got them, no problem with it being rough between the toes. I've been having trouble with pain in my heels and these have helped with that. Hopefully the more I wear them the pain will go away completely. I do like the look of these better then the Birkenstocks. They are a bit more expensive but I think are worth it. Always love doing business with Zappos, fast shipping and returns and always have the shoes etc. and sizes I'm looking for!!

These sandals fit like a glove...no breaking in, immediate comfort and within a day back pain is at bay. So glad to see they are getting more styles. This is my go to travel shoe.

I bought the Helen Mephisto's to wear on vacation. They are so comfortable, I always tend to wear them more than any other sandal I own. I wear a 7.5-8.0 and ordered a 38. They felt too small, so Zappos sent a 39 the next day! I changed my mind on the color from a dark brown scratch to a dark brown waxy.

Felt good from the moment I put them on. Love that the straps are adjustable and got lots of compliments on the color.

Best sandals I have ever worn. Just walked all over Europe in them—better than my sneakers. No breaking in period zero blisters. I thought my Birkenstocks were comfy and these blow those out of the water!!!!! I want a pair in ever color.

I am a softened Birk wearer. I wanted to love these so much, but the footbed is not as soft as the Birk softened. The style, with the insert for the toe is not comfortable for me. I am so bummed. Love you Zappos.

This is my 3rd pair of Helen, have had two other Mephisto designs too. These give me excellent support and are the only sandal to help prevent plantar fasciitis for me. This is my first pair of the nubuck, I do prefer the smooth leather.

I'm a size 9.5 in shoes. I went up to a 10 after reading a review here and glad I did. It fit perfect. I was a little afraid that the bed would not feel as good as the Birkenstock Arizona, but it is absolute wonderful. Excellent support. I can wear these all day and my feet are happy.

Leaving for a trip and ordered these last minute and trusted the recommendations to order a size up... NO! They were too big and now I'm without these shoes for the vacation. Bummer. Very true to size.

I had to order up from my normal size. These did have a break in period of about a week, but they are very comfortable once broken in.

I like these shoes. They are very comfortable and are the most stylish comfort sandals I have found. I wish I could wear them more but it’s always raining in FL!

Adorable and super comfortable. By the third day I was able to walk in them on a one mile hiking trail up and down hills along with a full day of sightseeing in a national park without any foot pain whatsoever. These are great shoes and seem to go with about everything.

This is the second pair of Helen's I've had and I love them. Very comfortable and good arch support. I'd like a pair in every color.

i felt these fit true to size, wonderful looking sandal but sadly they won’t work for me! The strap between the toes just wasn’t quite what I needed. I have a hard time finding sandals that I can wear, because of foot issues. I would suggest giving these a try if you are debating. I’ve heard that they hold up very well, year after year of many months wear. Go ahead! Bite the bullet! You won’t regret it:)

After ordering at least 20 pairs of sandals and returning them, I finally found a pair that is comfortable, supportive and looks great. Great arch support for my plantar fasciitis and able to be worn all day without pain. Love them!

This is my third pair of Mephisto Helen. I love them! They fit well and conform to your feet in a few days. I want more of them!

These are absolutely gorgeous shoes. They are casual - like a flip-flop, but with the most amazing arch support. The soles are much better than birkenstocks. The adjustable buckle makes the fit perfect. They are incredibly comfortable and they actually stay on my feet when I walk. I love them. I ordered the black waxy and the black nubuck and had trouble deciding which ones to keep because I love both (I chose nubuck). I might order them in another color too.

I finally decided that I needed a pair of these sandals. I ordered the grey pair & they are very nice neutral that I feel would go with most outfits. After reading reviews, I sized up & they are too big. Disappointed! Now I’m debating if I should try my regular size, or order something else. If I don’t exchange for my size, I will more than likely regret it. A few years ago I went to Vegas for work & I friend met me there. She had a pair of Mephisto Helens & loved them:) love Zappos customer service! Efficient & SO friendly!

These are my go-to sandals. The only drawback is that they are a bit wide for me, so I have to keep tightening the strap until I'm out of holes. My feet are very tender and tough to please, and these sandals do the trick!

This is my second pair of "Helen's" - just wore my first pair out. I followed the recommendations and ordered a size up. Thought it would be too big but they fit just fine. I got a little "blingy" this time and it's fun. I love these - just the right amount of support and they last forever.

After reading the reviews (and having a wide foot), I felt compelled to order a size bigger than normal: big mistake. For me, once I ordered my regular size (women’s 10), they fit just fine. The 11 was too long and the formed arch support was not in the proper place, so it was uncomfortable. I suppose they could be a LITTLE wider to accommodate my wide foot, but I find the regular width to be VERY comfortable. I wear them constantly and will be ordering another color. I’m guessing if you have narrow feet, these aren’t a good match...

This shoe was very comfortable even for my narrow feet. I normally wear a size 7.5 or 8 and ordered a size 38 in this shoe. It seemed about a half size too short so will reorder in a 39. The old pink star color seemed more gold than pink to me.

I've had these for 2 months now and my experience with them has changed. At first, the leather was stiff and I was regretting not getting Birkenstocks (but everybody has Birkies!). However, over time, the leather softened and the shoe actually became looser on my foot. Thanks to the adjustable strap, that has not been a problem. Now, I wear these all day. I bought these to walk my dogs in the neighborhood but I wear them everywhere now. If you're deciding between these and Birkenstocks, you'll need to give these more time to soften and adjust to your foot. If you have the luxury of time, you'll be quite happy while wearing something a little more unique and flattering. (These are slimming on the foot where Birkenstocks make my feet look wide.) The grey Etna goes with everything. Also, I ordered size 37 (I usually do wear a size 7/37) and they fit perfectly, with my feet nestled within the foot bed. With Zappos return policy order 2 sizes (regular, plus one size up) at first to see which fits you best.

Nice shoe, but a bit too small/narrow - so I will return & order the size up.
