I love the look but they're stiff as a board. The quarter of the shoe chaffs the back of my ankle. I'm not giving them up, just limiting wear.

Love the look, but have never had a shoe so impossible to break in. I don't know why, but the upper part of the back of the shoe will not give in.

Watch out! I've worn this shoe for years and have loved it until recently. They've had issues with the finish flaking off where the shoe bends long before you'd consider the sole to be worn out. It lasts about ninety days tops. But the biggest issue is that the newer China made shoes run small across the top of the foot. The previous shoe was Cambodian made and always fit great.

Nice looking shoe, but not very comfortable. Have worn them for job shadowing and some casual occasions and my feet always hurt afterwards. They also are on the heavy side and run a little large.

The shoe looks good and seemed durable. It was a bit stiff the first two weeks, but after it was broken in, it was very comfortable. I wear this shoe everyday for work. I feel that the quality is not as good as my Timberlands. The show is not really leather, or rather there is some kind of thin layer that makes up the outer layer of the shoe. I had something heavy on the shoe and it had peeled that layer off on a section of the shoe. Also the plastic area around the shoe where the seam is has cracked in many places where the shoe bends. The leather has also started to unglue on the side from that plastic trim. I figured I could live with it for a little longer, but walking around in wet weather I had water coming in at the bottom of the shoe. Apparently, the bottom of the sole has a 1 inch crack that is seeping water in and tread is barely worn down. I wanted to like this shoe, but it is just falling apart everywhere. It is 1 year old with daily use.

Wore it for an hour and already got a blister on my heel. Not comfortable at all. Looks good though!

I have owned 3 pairs of these due to having wide feet just re-ordering the shoe that fits. The leather is very thin and does not move the same as the base material causing the leather to wrinkle and crack eventually. The upper will also separate from the sole and you notice it starting due to either a noise when walking or getting your feet wet. Both issues are consistently at the midpoint of the toe and arch. Shoes have lasted 6-12 months before being replaced with the 12 month shoe being maintained regularly with shoe conditioner. The 3rd pair was the last one I will ever order, as I feel this price is too much for this shoe.

I thought these shoes were a real find. They were comfortable, very sturdy looking, and cheap. One early concern, however, was that it really seemed that the shoes could use another eyelet. The heels slipped a bit on my feet. Even if I tightened the laces very tight, the heels would slip as the laces loosened a bit. (This is a problem that I have had with other "utility" shoes. That is, the soles are not so flexible, and as a result it is difficult to keep the heel from slipping. In my opinion, most of them need to have another eyelet.) I hoped that the shoe would become more flexible with some wear, and the problem would go away. But the problem did not go away. The shoes usually slip on my feet. And as a result of the slipping, the cloth lining on the inside of the shoe has worn away at the heel. But two other, much bigger problems emerged with the shoes, problems that were a bit of a surprise. Problem #1: The very sturdy looking leather upper is actually not sturdy at all. In a very short time, the smooth black skin of the leather cracked and then began falling off in little pieces. What is underneath looks like black suede. Problem #2: The leather uppers split along the line where the upper meets the sole, just in front of the arch area. Water comes through the split if I step in a puddle. So in the end, these shoes were not a good purchase.

First of all, let me say that these shoes look great. I've actually had people (some of them complete strangers) stop me and ask me about them. They do look really good. However, I cannot recommend them. The skin cracked within a few weeks of me getting them. 8 months in, there are large patches near the toes where they skin has cracked and peeled off. One should also note that while the color is "Black Oily Leather", these are not really leather shoes.

Meh, it's going to scuff very easily. Just rubbing it to hard with my finger wears the leather away. Not terrible for the price, but not great either.

This was my go-to casual work shoe for a long time, but there's been a dramatic dip in quality in the past few years. My past three pairs have given out in only three months or so. The top layer of leather peels off (on the black) or wears through (on the brown), and the soles split all the way through. I love the style, but I won't buy them again unless I see evidence that the quality has been restored.

These shoes look good and are comfortable but the toe must be made of cardboard. I dropped my cellphone and stuck out my foot to break its fall and now there is a crease/divet down the middle of the toe that cannot be worked out by pressing on the inside of the shoe. You can feel how cheaply the toe is made. After just a couple of weeks I have dents in both toes from just casual wear. I wasn't expecting steel toes at all but any contact to the toes of these shoes will result in dents. Since the finish is a bit glossy they are very apparent. The crease in the right shoe from dropping my cell phone on it is right in the middle and now the shoe looks like a butt. I'd recommend something more durable. I'm a big fan of Zappos and usually a Sketchers fan but this shoe is poor quality.

I wore these a few times over four months, and never even got them wet. The cheap leather bubbled up a peeled off, making them basically useless.

Great shoe but falls apart quickly. I have purchased this shoe model for years but my last two pairs have been disappointing. The exterior of the shoes tears easily and falls apart within a few days.

I bought these thinking that they would provide great support, good traction, and be jeans to business casual. When they arrived in a huge box marked industrial with a picture of a foundry in the background, I was scared. I put them on and could not get the stiff leather to pull together enough for my size E width foot. They are very wide, like a EEE width. I rushed out to my white collar job, asked the guys at work, and none of them liked them or felt they looked appropriate. The worst part is that they are bulky and heavy; I felt like I had lead weights on my feet all day. They do provide tons of support and great traction, but in a word - Frankenshoe. bolts on the side and all. The polish also flaked off throughout the day, which was very odd. On a positive note, they arrived quickly, well packaged, and were relatively easy to return free. A colleague ordered a pair and she had to pay to send them back.

the shoe looks great but does not last. the finish is a thin film over the shoe. once is cracks, it bubbles and peels off. the leather underneath is not finished so you cant polish. I would never buy this shoe again.

I have worn these for years at work in a retail environment with great results, the last 2 pairs have pealed on the top of the front of the shoe after about a month and a half, the other issue is cracking on the bottom of the shoe. I will not purchase again.

I bought these, based mainly on the positive Zappos reviews. Even after I received the shoes, and wore them around a bit, I thought I was wrong and the reviewers were right. They look nice. They're well made. But man are they uncomfortable. Standing or walking my feet kill me when and after I wear them. They weigh a ton, and it seems as if I'm carrying weights around on my feet. It's not too late for me to return them, but I have unfortunately thrown away the shoe box so can't receive a refund or replacement. Anyone want to buy a great-looking pair of size 11's? I'll make you a heck of a deal.

in this case, even a Wal-Mart brand would be better.
