boots are great but they were a gift to my grandsons and they each had a different need for the boots at their job, one wanted a shorter boot and the other wanted just a shoe with a soft toe so I would like to return these and find something that they each want.

These boots broke in very quickly although the leather appears to be very stiff at first wearing. I really love these the boots. Then soul itself is removable it is a little cheap I recommend getting a better insole.

These Dr. Martens were surprisingly comfortable the first time that my daughter put them on. She wears them to school almost every day. She does not have to compromise comfort for style... they are "cool" while being wearable for a long school day! We did have to play around with sizing, and in the end she ended up wearing a size larger than she normally wears.

I have had many pairs of Dr. Martens. These are so comfortable. These boots need very little breaking in.

These boots feel comfortable for everyday wear. The fit was true to size and quality is very good. I searched other sites and the Zappos price was the best.

Shipping was fast and the boots fit perfect. So comfortable. Would recommend Doc Martens wonder balsalm with these. It'll take care of scuffs and keep your boots looking new.

I am still in the process of breaking these in so we'll see if anything changes, but these boots look great and are really comfortable, right out of the box. I'm usually a size 11 but I probably could have bought a 10.5. They are just slightly loose fitting but fine with a regular or heavier weight sock. There is one stitch of yellow thread all the way around the top of the sole. I'm fine with that, but one person commented they didn't like that. Overall, these are everything I expected (and more) from my first pair of Doc Marten's.

Great boot. Runs very large. Had to order my son several sizes of different Dr Martens boots to find the right size. This size 9 fits best but the tongue wasn't sewn down and it bothered him so I already ordered another one. He normally wears a mens 10 1/2 or 11 size shoe!

I am a 10 in sneakers, 8 in Uggs and 9.5 in sandals. I am a 9 in Dr. Marten's. I ordered a 10 and they were way too big. If you are a US women's 9.5 and get the 9 for women. The boots are really stiff and I hope they break in soon. I don't wear them everyday. I did get lot's of compliments.

I bought this shoe out of a desire to "bring punk back" (it never really left) and I have to say people have been noticing, and I have received numerous complements on them. If you want a hardcore style shoe, this is the one, and also if you just want a boot that can last, look no further than the 1490 from Dr. Martens.

Bought them for my daughter for Christmas and she loves, loves, loves, them. They were too big and Zappos made the exchange process very easy so I will be always ordering from them!

They are excellent! Make my husband look like a dignified grunge 90s rocker. And it's a soft dulled shine on the black outer leather. Not too shiny like patent leather. They were a little tough and rough for breaking in, but after a few weeks they were broken in. Well worth it!

Very comfortable boots! I've been wearing other boots for a long time now and I didn't even have a problem breaking these in like some reviews said. I wear these daily at work and I constantly get compliments on them.

My husband knows how much I love Doc Martens, and picked up a pair of 1490's for me for Xmas!! Just what I wanted. :) I've owned so many other pairs before- green lug-sole 1460's in the late 90's, a couple pairs of 90's maryjanes, a black 20-eye knee boot, 3-eye oxfords and now this lovely black boot. The leather seemed both stiffer and thinner than my English made boots, but they're already comfortable after just 3 days. Working on getting them creased in all the right places now. I wear US 6 1/2-7 in most shoes and I've owned Docs in both UK 4 & 5. My 1490s are size 4 and still have room for thick socks. Up the PUNX!!!

Love these. I bought them originally when I worked at a grocery store and was on my feet all day. They hold up great, clean easily, and are super comfy. No need for a lengthy dialogue here, overall fantastic leathers. Do yourself a favor and get a pair. You'll have them for years.

I really agonized after reading the reviews about buying these. I am recovering from an ankle injury and the choice was have my foot in a cast or get some really good boots. I finally opted for these. I got them in the smooth leather; I kind of wish I had gotten the Napa leather because it would have been softer. These boots give excellent support of my ankles. I can wear them all day and have none of my normal ankle pain at the end of the day. I did not have a break-in period. I wear a size 9W (women's) and ordered size 41 hoping that they would not pinch my foot. I have a neuroma on one foot and any tightness at all across the wide part of my foot results in agony. The size 41 if anything might be a little on the big side. I kind of wish that I had gotten a size 40. However, they are very comfortable with thick socks which will be great in cold weather. I wore them all day the first day and several days since. Maybe the secret to no break in period is making sure you get a big enough size? I have bad arches (my feet are just bad in general) and I have a pretty pronounced pronation on one side. I wear orthodics in my other shoes but do not need them in these. I think because they stabilize my ankles so well. The one thing, as I said, is that I wish I had gone for the Napa leather instead of the shiny black because it would have been softer. I would definitely buy another pair and would love some in cherry red.

I have a lovely pair of Dr. Martens which I love. My husband's boots were wearing out and I suggested he get a pair of these and after shopping around a little bit we ordered them from Zappos. We are both very happy not only with the boots (which are perfect and exactly what my husband wanted) but with the excellent service and very easy to navigate website. I just bought yet another pair of boots for myself and I'm sure I'll be back again soon. (I give four stars for style only because I personally prefer the not so shiny leather kind of Docs.)

I really could have used half sizing. Had to go half size up but it was just so big and clunky looking and I needed 2 pairs of socks. Half size down was too tight. But really good quality shoes and such a classic. I wish they fit, they would have lasted for years both style wise and quality wise.

Very comfortable boot! I will admit they don’t last as long as other more expensive brand of boot but for the price they are good. Also not the best boot to be hiking in the woods these are city slicker boots but do their job well. Other boots that are better for hiking and outdoor work aren’t as comfortable so I like these for what they are! Great fit too!
