Having never worn Birkenstock before but knowing many who had and being desperate for a white shoe with support, I was willing to give these a try - ugh! They are so stiff, I could barely take walking around on the carpet just to try them out, definitely not my cup of tea. Too bad, they are super cute and the fit was great!

I ordered these when my feet started to hurt at the end of the day during the beginning of the second trimester my pregnancy. I care a lot about fashion so it was a hard hit for me to commit to birks. Your feet become so flexible during pregnancy they can change for good. I decided to only wear with the best orthopedic shoes I could find (in hopes of giving them full support so to not change). This classic pattern is the best of them all and I wear them with everything. I now have 3 colors. I'm in my 7th month and while I do get bored with my footwear selection - pain is never an issue. I am totally comfortable all day. One random day I went without shoes and by 5pm my feet were killing me - I had to stop everything and put them up. This never happens when I'm wearing my birks. I fully recommend these for a pregnancy. I will probably continue to wear them the rest of my life (but not exclusively!!) I hope that after the baby comes I can celebrate my shoe wardrobe again - and if not at least I have these. :D

I had to return a pair when this style just came out. I don't understand why they don't make the thong more comfortable. I love the style and tried all sorts of fixes but they didn't work out. What's up with that? And so many people that can put up with it?

I have another pair of Birkenstocks in the Birki-flor material and they just will not wear out! So I decided I needed the Gizeh for a change of pace. I love the style and the color - the titanium has a soft metallic sheen without being too flashy. When I first tried them on, the thong felt uncomfortable, but then I tightened the strap across my foot so that the sandal fits snugly. That did the trick and now they feel great. All the ease of a flip-flop, but much better support and comfort.

OK, these are fine if all you are doing is standing around, but try walking three city blocks and they turn into a torture device. Between the toes! I don't know what shoe-makers are thinking; have they tried on these shoes? I can't be the only one. I've been looking for a comfortable pair of slide-on sandals to replace the el cheapo Target shoes I bought in 2006 and haven't had the best of luck. These shoes are cute, in a hippie-dippy kind of way, and like I said, they are OK if you are standing around, but I don't just stand around, so they were a big waste of money for me.

Love my Gizeh birks! These are so comfortable and stylish too! A must have staple in your summer wardrobe.

My new favorite sandals! All Birks are stiff at first, but after a few wearings you will love them. I wear a size 8 however every pair of Birks I have every owned was a size 7. They are a full size smaller than other brands.

These are great! I haven't worn thong-style sandals in many years, and was able to put these on and wear them with very little discomfort. Once my toes "harden up" a bit they will be all day wear!! It's wonderful they come in narrow!!!

I took the advice of many other reviewers by ordering a size down. I normally wear a size 6.5, but I ordered a 36 (labeled as US 5-5.5) and it fits perfectly. Other than that - this is a very comfortable summer shoe that's great for when you want to stay cool but walk a lot. It doesn't do wonders for fashion or your legs, but hey.

I have plantar fasciitis & Birkenstock shoes and sandals is the only shoe I can wear pain free! Thank goodness!

I love the gunmetal grey of these shoes. They work with absolutely everything and are a great change from black for summer. After about a week they are perfectly broken in, however I have one complaint. For the first week the piece between my toes seemed too big and was rubbing and caused pain. I waited out the pain and now they are the most comfortable shoes, ever! I always wear the flip flop style with the piece between the toes and never have a problem. Not sure why this was an issue, but it's something to keep in mind if you are sensitive between your toes. Overall, a hip cool comfortable pair of summer shoes!!

These took me a few days to get used to, but now they feel like I am walking on pillows. With in one day of wearing them the leather strap stretched out enough that I had to tighten them up a hole, but that was fine by me since out of the box I could only wear them on the first hole. I have wide and fat feet.

Look, if you haven't tried Birkenstock Gizeh, you're missing out. Comfy (even for an entire day of walking), cute, and yes, actually kind of stylish. I wear them all weekend. I wear them on the commute to work. I wear this particular pair (I have three colors) with nautical summer-y outfits. Try these once and you're sold for life, I promise.

I'll be honest, I just put these shoes on about 10 minutes ago, but am so happy that I decided to review them right away. I plan to write another after wearing them in. Needless to say, I am very happy with these shoes! I ordered them in the Toffee brown color and am happy with my choice. The picture is true to the look of the shoe: dark brown with a metallic wash over it. I like the subtle shine - it can go casual or dressy. As far as size, I am a 9.5-10 shoe US - really my right foot is a 10 and my left foot is a 9.5. At the recommendation of a woman at a shoe store, I ordered a 41 (converts to a 10-10.5) and am glad I did, rather than ordering down as other reviewers suggested. My right foot fits perfectly and the left just has a tiny bit of room in the back of the heel. This is not a problem after adjusting the T-strap to the second hole to keep it snug to my arch. I love the fact that these run a little wider than the average shoe as my feet are wide at the toes and narrow at the heels. I have just enough space width-wise and the heel cup fits well. Even just sitting and walking around my house, it feels good on my foot to have the arch support and heel cup - I also have high arches and can't wear just flat plastic flip flops any more. I am excited to break them in and get a little more flexibility in the soles. Then they will be perfect! As a side-note, I am very impressed with my order through Zappos. I ordered these shoes at 9:30pm last night and just received them at 4:30pm today. Wow. I also had to call customer service to fix a typing error on my shipping address and had a great experience. The wait was short (less than 10 minutes despite the recording telling me they were handling a lot of calls and had longer than normal wait times) and the woman I spoke to was friendly and accommodating. Thank you Zappos, you have earned yourself a new supporter!

I love them. Not really a Berk girl but saw everyone in Paris rearing them and looking good. Super comfy. Wear them every wear now.

Awesome! I wear a 10 in sneakers and ordered 40 and it fit true. No break in time for me. Cute and funky shoe. The plastic between the toes didn't bother me. I'm used to flip flops though. Buy them if you like them. They are adorable in person!

These shoes are by far the best sandals you can get for your feet! I have worn Birkenstocks since high school, so 15 years now, and I worked for a Birkenstock store for a year. Often, customers would come in requesting that I fit them in their first pair of Birkenstocks, at the order of their podiatrist. These are orthopedic so they support your feet in the proper way and these are the shoes that most every podiatrist agrees people should wear. For those of you getting a pair of Birkenstocks for the first time, there are a few things to be aware of. Sizing is little different since you are in a European size. I am a solid 8 in US sizing, but when I wear the Arizona style Birkenstock I have to get a size 38 (European 7) and when wearing the Gizeh with the toe piece I size up one size in order for it to fit properly, so I wear a 39 in the Gizeh. Also, it does take time to adjust to the toe piece but it should not be painful as some reviews have mentioned. If you are in the correct size, this should not bother you that much, especially if you are used to flip-flops. Another thing to note is that there are three different footbeds to choose from. Papillio Sandals have the smallest amount of arch support, Birkenstocks have medium arch support and Tatamis have the highest arch support, so one footbed might work better for you than another. I can wear the Papillio and the Birkenstock, where as Tatami is slightly too high for me, but people with an extremely high arch love Tatamis. After some time the footbed actually forms and molds to your foot. This is a very cool process because it goes from a completely flat shoe that anyone can wear to one that over time only you can wear because it takes on the shape of your individual foot and another person would not be comfortable in it. And lastly, in order to keep the cork shiny, looking new and protected, you can get cork life from the Birkenstock website. You would use this every few months depending on how often you wear your sandals. Just as any Birkenstocks last forever! But, if you ever need your sandals repaired, a Birkenstock store in your area may have trained staff who can replace any part of the sandal, including the footbed, toepiece, sole, and leather lining. So I do hope this helps any of you new to Birkenstock on sizing and keeping your Birkenstocks nice and new looking for years to come! The one and only complaint I have for the Gizeh is that I wish it could be worn in winter, but unfortunately, in Indiana that just is not possible!

I love these Birks! I have only ever had the classic originals, and was worried that I would have the same slippage issues that I had with the others, but these are entirely different and hold my feet in perfectly.

These are great! They are super comfortable and if you get the right color, they are cute too. I've had them for almost a year and love them!

Love them! Beautiful! Classy! Above all: comfortable. The best, nicest pair of sandals I've ever owned. Wore them on a cruise--including shore excursions and for smart casual nights at dinner. The dark black is very elegant and versatile--wear with jeans, a skirt, whatever. I have a bit wider foot and this fit perfectly. (The shoe showed up on my wide search even though there wasn't a wide option). Just order the regular width provided. I normally wear an 8.5 shoe and ordered 8.5.

As usual, this Birko-Flor lives-up to the Birkenstock name. It is good looking on the foot and so, so comfy! Perfect for year-round comfort!

This is the second pair of Birkenstick Gizeh's I've owned. I love the style, and comfort I get from this sandal; great arch support. I can walk miles on these sandals in one day and not have any issues with rubbing/discomfort.

These shoes are great -- very comfortable and look nice. I can wear them with almost all of my summer wardrobe. Excellent shoes that have gotten increasingly comfortable as I've continued to wear them.

This is my third pair of Birkenstock in this style and they are the most comfortable sandal I have ever had. To me they look sexy an sophisticated and they are good for my very high arch/instep. I almost wear them 24/7.
