I am the first to admit that I wear shoes out quickly. I wear my pair each and every day until it's time for a new pair. That's where I finally thought I would upgrade with a pair of Deer Stags that were highly recommended. Turns out these are no better than the $20 cheap shoes that wear out in three months that I used to buy. I bought these right after Easter. In the first three weeks of wearing I had to exchange for a new pair because the side wall had busted open. Then, the same thing happened to the new pair. Now I bought these in store and a salesperson agreed that these were the correct size/fit, so that is not the issue. These are poorly constructed - only glue keeps the sole and shoe together. Now the sole of my "new" pair (which I've only had since 5/27) has already come apart and I have to purchase something else. I will never buy a pair of Deer Stags again!

Don't waste your time and money on these, they were as awful as everybody says, they last two months before they fell apart, sole came off, the top leather peeled.

I used to wear these shoes until I wore through the soles. Now, they literally fall apart long before the soles are worn out. My last 2 pairs have lasted less than 9 months before they literally fell apart. On my most recent pair the laces lasted less than 3 months before breaking and now 8 months in they are unwearable as the sole has separated from the upper of the left shoe. The drop off in quality was very sudden and noticeable. Very disappointing as I've been buying these shoes for about 14 years now for work. I'll have to find something new.

Have had 3 pairs. The first two pairs lasted over a year each. The past pair lasted only a few months before the finish started flaking off. They are comfortable and airport-friendly, but after the last pair I can't recommend them anymore. Cheaply made.

Poorly made! Glued outer sole separated from the side of the shoe after only 60 days. I have wide feet (EEE) and stick to Deer Stags knowing that they will hold up about a year before the sole bottom cracks. This is the first time the sole separated from the shoe and after only two months.

I was so disappointed in these shoes. I chose them because my previous Deer Stags Times lasted many years, but these aren't the same at all. The first pair I received had gluing errors that created bumps and a crease in the toe. The second pair I kept, but was shocked when the thin skin on the right toe tore a hole after three weeks, exposing the white underlayer. Yes, they are not real leather. All I could do was take a black sharpie and color in the hole so at least it was black. Then 3 days later, another tear! They are an embarrassment to wear and a total waste of money.

Had 2 pair of these sent to me. 1st pair the toes separated from the sole within a few days. Zappos promptly replaced them. 2nd pair the same thing happened only took a few months this time. Unhappy with this brand.

These were great out of the box. Now after daily work wear they are falling apart at the heels. Insole is caving in at the heel. Leather is peeling loose from sole at both heels, thankfully no rain has flooded me out yet. First purchase and I was almost soured, decided to look for another pair and have just received them today. Definitely would not recommend these to anyone I know. Would love to get my money back and put it towards a different pair.

My first review was unsavory. I reached out to Zappos and because they have the best customer service, they responded and even offered a replacement pair. I accepted figuring that maybe the pair I had was defective and wore faster than most. This is not the case. The first pair I ordered in August, by late September, the sole was coming off (a common issue with glued-sole shoes. The second pair came in October and by December began showing the same wear. The shoes are comfortable, but even for an office job where I hardly walk except a few blocks from the train station, the shoes have looked like I'm hiking on mountain trails all day. I can't express enough that this is an issue with the shoe and the quality of Deer Stags and not of Zappos where I've received only the best service.

This is my second pair and it's coming apart between the heel cap and heel. It was glued together instead of stitched. The first pair lasted 6 months. This second pair lasted 5 months. Will not buy this again. I've bought shoes that cost twice as much but still going well after 2 years.

These are nice looking shoes and the fit was excellent, but the quality is lacking. The connection of the upper part of the shoe to the sole is poor. I returned a pair of these shoes after 3 months of wearing to Zappos hoping it was a singular product defect. However, the replacement pair of shoes had the same problem and I will be returning them as well. Zappos gets 5 stars for ease of return and customer service.

Day three: I had to go buy a tool to install metal eyelets for the laces because they were just ripping the holes bigger. Day six: The sides of the shoes are cracking already. These are absolute junk. They used to be good. But they are not anymore.

Absolutely horrible shoes! The fit was fine, but they state that they have genuine leather uppers...if that were so, then the "finish" on the shoes would not have started flaking off after less than a month of wear. Yes, I said that the top portion of the leather actually started to flake off on these shoes leaving them unwearable because of how they looked. Quite frankly, I have never purchased a worse pair of shoes and I feel like I have been ripped off.

These shoes are garbage! I did a search on zappo's website for non-slip shoes, and these came up. I slip all over the place in my restaurant in these things. Not to mention that there is absolutely no heel support in these shoes. My entire body hurts after working a day in these shoes. I highly recommend not buying these shoes!

I'm disappointed overall in the quality of these shoes. By about 6 months after ordering them, the soles were becoming detached (had to superglue them back on), and the coated finish was flaking off of the leather. They were also rather stiff and uncomfortable to begin with, and by the time they started to "break in", they were falling apart.

I bought these shoes and within a couple of months there are already several holes in the upper. I wear these in an office enviroment and this is unacceptable.

The last two pairs of Deer Stags Times I purchased developed cracks in the leather near the toes within a few weeks. I am very dissatisfied.

Literally the worst shoe I have ever owned. Zero durability. I will not be buying Deer Stags ever again and don't recommend that anyone else does either. The price is very cheap, but so is the build quality. I owned the Deer Stags for only a couple months, using them very modestly (1-2 times a week), and they started to completely fall apart. The sole started to unglue from the bottom of the shoe along with the brown paint chipping off. It is MUCH more worth it to spend and more money for a very comfortable and durable pair of shoes, instead of spending money over and over.

I have bought these shoes for use at work, several times. The last two pairs broke down within two months. The quality is now unacceptable, at any price.

Inner sole was great. Biggest problem was the outer skin "bubbled" and peeled away in less than a year. I took my shoes to a cobbler for their advice on what could be done to repair the premature wear. This was not a good experience and I am not going to shell out money for a shoe company that cannot get the basics of mass craftsmanship.

We bought these as school uniform shoes for our 12 year old boy. They looked good initially, but we returned them, because after a week, the color flaked off in spots and couldn't be polished or repaired.

I have been a loyal customer of Zappos for a while, and a loyal customer of Deer Stags shoes for considerably longer -- perhaps 15 years or so, I would guess; maybe more. I am saddened to say that Deer Stags has recently cheapened up their shoes considerably. I purchased my most recent pair of Deer Stags "Times" back in December 2009 and only recently started wearing them. Within a few weeks the uppers of both shoes have started “peeling.” It seems that instead of leather uppers, Deer Stags has switched to what looks like felt or a similar material, and covered it with a plastic film to make it superficially look like leather. I wasn't the only one who noticed. I wore them on vacation last week and two people (half-jokingly) commented to me that my shoes were falling apart. They were right, of course, but I don't desire that kind of attention(!). I am in mourning. My formerly favorite brand of shoes now permanently lost me as a customer. Now I have to begin a search for another brand of shoes to be loyal to.
