Have always purchased this shoe over many years. Was always get price and well made. The last pair split on the bottom. I contacted Deer Stags and they asked for a picture which was sent. Said they would get back to me in SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS. New got back to me, e-mailed again and they said send them address and sizes. Never anything done. Thos company has no customer service department to help if you have a problem, they just tell you to wait SIX TO EIGHT WEEKS for a response. Will never buy their shoes again.

Cheap. Not wholly uncomfortable, but the whole assembly just felt and looked like something that would come out of a gumball machine. They were a half size too small, but very close to being true to size. At the end of the day, I just had no confidence in them being a durable shoe.

Very comfortable shoe with uppers that hold up well and take polish. As others have reviewed, the sole and heel are a man-made product that cannot be repaired or replaced. I tread on the outside of my heel and require glued wear strips. You cannot nail into this heel. The sole wears well and the shoe fits my wider foot well. I have had two pairs that were very serviceable. My third pair's sole fractured in front of the heel catastrophically. My spare pair had an eyelet detach before I wore them the first time. I like the comfort and fit, but quality is a conceern.

Shoe fit great. Loved the extra cushion in the heel. Really didn't like the lack of cushion for the ball of the foot. Not comfortable to walk in if you pound on the ball of your feet.

Very comfortable, maybe the most comfortable I have ever worn. Quality has lot to be desired...soles separate on a regular basis (less than six months), outers fake leather peels off easily, Zappos has sent me at least three replacement pairs over the years (so they must know there are quality issue, but they stand behind what they sell) but it is to the point that I will look for another shoe. If they sold for $15, I would understand, but not at this price, these things should happen. I'm not sure about other Deer Stags, this is the only one I have tried. The Brown version holds up much better than the black.

The quality of these shoes gets worse every year. The soles are literally glued on and after two months of having them they are disbonding already. Terrible quality.

Very stiff and uncomfortable. The only way I can wear them is with inserts. They also starting splitting down the side due to the stiffness and not being able to flex or "wrinkle" while breaking them in. I would not buy again. I do like the look of them though.

Shoes feel a full size too large so I bought an insert to make up for the size difference. I had bought these fall 2013. The heel is already torn off as mid summer 2014. Admittedly I do a lot of walking but still expected them to last longer. I would recommend paying a little more for better quality.

I have had these for about 2 years about 2 times a week and the sole is falling apart where it meets the heel on the right shoe. I'm a big guy, so my ownership has been a true test of durability. This shoe is not durable, but it is affordable and good looking, although the leather is looking a little tattered.

After only 3 months, the heels came unglued from the sole. :( What a shame. The shoes are very comfortable. Zappos to the rescue - easy return/replacement with a different brand of shoe. Love Zappos. :)

It seems the quality of these shoes is declining quickly. I'm currently wearing my fourth pair of Deer Stags. The shoes have always been comfortable and supportive, which is why I kept buying them. However, my third pair fell apart after only a few months of wear. The sole literally detached from the shoe itself. Other than that, the shoes were still in excellent condition. Having had great success with the two previous pairs, I accepted this as a fluke and bought the fourth pair. Unfortunately, this pair has fallen apart in exactly the same way, after only 5 months of use. Though I wear the shoes daily, I mostly sit at a desk. So, the shoes are not heavily used. Looks like I'll have to switch to a different brand of shoe for the next go-round.

I bought these Deer Stags because I wanted an affordable, comfortable, and durable work shoe. Well, I got one out of three, the affordable part. These shoes are uncomfortable and poorly made. After only a month of use the interior is tearing and the soles are separating from the leather. And forget about comfort. I'm on my feet for most of my work shift, and afterwards, my feet, back, and knees are much more beaten up than they should be. I'm surprised that these shoes got generally positive reviews, because they don't deserve it. They only thing they may be good for is infrequent, short term wear, like job interviews or formal events. Otherwise, stay away.

Purchased this shoe about 2 months ago. There were many good reviews and I have always received quality shoes from Zappos. I started a new job in the city and needed a new comfortable work shoe and this seemed ideal. After 2 months of normal wear and tear of only the work week, the sole of the right shoe has begun to come unglued and pull away at the heel. I'm so disappointed in this shoe and the product I have received. Especially when the last shoes I purchased (for half the price from Pay-Less) lasted 6 months before falling apart (albeit literally, but I hardly expected them to last that long). Otherwise, they are very comfortable, but give little arch support. I would not recommend this shoe.

As a previous owner of what I THOUGHT would be the same shoe, I have to say that I am really dissapointed with this purchase. The leather? has been replaced with a really cheap plasticy type material that looks extremely cheap. My oldpair was so much nicer than these. In black its not as noticeable, but the brown ones look like crap.

Had the shoes for slightly over a year. The toe on both shoes has worn off, various chips all over on the top of shoe, with the shoelaces even starting to break. Shoe is still comfortable, but embarrassing to wear at work, so I'm buying a different pair of shoes today.

I bought these shoes about a year ago (March 2012), and they're pretty much done. I'm not really sure how Deer Stag gets away with claiming a "genuine leather upper" for these shoes. There are spots on both my shoes where the finish is peeling away. The finish is obviously applied to the upper and the material underneath doesn't really seem to be leather either. I also had to apply a piece of felt to inside heel area on one of the shoes to keep it from hurting my foot (weirdly this started a few months after wearing them, so I can't attribute it to break-in). Maybe this was a random manufacturing defect, because I haven't seen similar complaints and it only occurred in one shoe. On the plus side, the sole is extremely comfortable if you're on your feet all day. These are also a great price. Personally, I'm going to spend a little more on replacements from another brand in the hopes they last a little longer, but if you need a shoe in this price range, these aren't too bad and might be a decent choice.

Great shoe for a cheap and comfortable office environment shoe, I'll even say they're probably good to dance in. However, this is not a true leather shoe, it is cheaper imitation that creases, bubbles up, cracks, and leaves horrible-looking exposed holes/gashes on the shoe. That being said, let's break it down a bit. Pros: -They fit very comfortably. -They have a nice dark brown color, matching with a basic brown dress belt (classy). -Absolutely true to size and width. -They look moderately stylish, great shoe for the office (comfort!). -Price! Hot damn! Cons: -Lasted only 4-5 months of wearing them at most 4 days a week to work in an office before the "leather" became ruined (in regards to that "Price! Hot damn!" comment). -The shoe strings break if you like your shoes tied on the tighter side of a knot. -The black sole of the shoes turn very light colored very fast. -Shoe is glued to the sole, not stitched. -What real stitching there is can come undone very easily. In review, this shoe is a nice cheap fix, but heed my warning, it doesn't last very long. It's worth the low cost. Perhaps with less wear it will last longer, but I won't be the one to test that hypothesis.

I ordered these in November and have worn them 3 days a week for work. Already the leather on the top is bubbling and the edge is getting a hole...really weird . If I could find my receipt, I would return them. Poor quality. Sad.

This shoe wore terribly. the color rubbed off very fast and looks cheap. It feels a full size larger than it is and I would definitely not recommend.

Very disappointed with these shoes. They felt good the first time I put them on, but within a day I had multiple blisters. Also, the shoe lace on the right shoe broke within a week of owning the shoe and there was blistering in the finish on the heel after two weeks. I will not buy this shoe again. My last pair were Dockers and they were great and lasted for years. I bought these to save a few bucks. It was not a good investment.

Squeaky - This shoe is moderately comfortable and has a great clean look. However, they squeak! If you walk on tile or linoleum floors, make sure that these shoes don't squeak before you decide whether to keep them. I kept waiting for the squeakiness to go away, but it doesn't. Pay the extra $20 and get a pair of Clark's.

Deer Stags's looks deceive - Second pair of Deer Stags for me--these are made in brazil; first made in china. A nicely styled and light shoe. but these have two major flaws. First, the shoestrings last about a month (this is common for most new shoes now). Second, the soles mark floors. Badly. It continues to mark floors. Is this necessary?

I just received shoes that were OBVIOUSLY used. These shoes were previously warm by someone and not just briefly. Unbelievably unsatisfactory. Embarrassing marked all over from wear and tear . Do suspect

These are comfortable shoes, but they are not good shoes. I admit I am a bit rough on shoes, but these shoes barely lasted me three months before the sole started peeling off. I remember having a pair in the past where they lasted two years and looked good for both years with minimal upkeep. That is the main reason why I bought these shoes, on the past of Deer Stags being great shoes. The shoes showed marks on them quickly this time. Avoid these shoes at all costs.
