I have bought 3 pairs of brown deer stag times shoe over the past four years. As a project manager I am constantly on my feet and these shoes always are comfortable for the first 5 or 6 months - then a crack always appears in the sole where the heel is attached. If they weren't so comfortable, I wouldn't keep buying them - but I am caught between a rock and a hard place - comfort and price vs buying overpriced shoes that might last a little longer. Funny thing I have a pair of their black Deer Stag Times and they have lasted me for 3 years without any issues.

I bought these for a wedding in July and they were wonderful. I decided to make them my everyday work shoes as they were so comfortable. By November after wearing them four days a week every week they started falling apart. The outside of the right shoe had begun to separate from the sole for about three inches along the seam. I then noticed the same thing on the outside of the left heel but in a much smaller area, say about an inch long.
I do not think I would buy these again for daily wear.
If you are going to wear them once a week for a night out then they would be great and will probably last you a couple years. For daily wear I would look someplace else unless you don't mind buying new shoes every 4 to 6 months.
Three stars for comfort, wish I could give 2.5 as build quality is very important to me and I like my shoes to last a couple years.

This shoe lasted a fair bit longer than I had expected it to after receiving it. I bought it in October and it lasted essentially until the end of August. I'm satisfied with the shoe considering its price point; however, it's still a "cheap shoe." The entire shoe has almost no rigidity whatsoever, so I was expecting it to crack and buckle across the area below the ball of my foot; however, it lasted until the soft rubber outsole had worn almost down to the leather. The main fault was the fact that the outsole is extremely soft and is simply glued to the bottom of the shoe. The stereotypical cheap-leather coated finish adhered better than I expected (probably because I had polished the shoe), but there are still spots where it had torn and started to blister in the last months of use. I have flat feet, so I was expecting the very soft shoe to have very limited arch support, but it was pleasantly comfortable to wear, though I no longer have to spend lots of time standing in order to really find out just how good they are. The lack of rigidity caused the leather to crease across the surface below the quarter (where the eyelets are) within a month of light use.

The cut on the side of the shoe is a bit high causing it to bump my ankle bone when I walk. I put some odor eaters in and it helped considerably, and will probably pick up some inserts. The laces that are provided with the shoe are goofy-long, making the shoe difficult to tie without dragging the laces.

These are cheap shoes. You don't pay this price expecting to get a great shoe that will last a long time. When you open the box, they smell like new tires, not new shoes. The sole is actually pretty good, and they look good when they're new. Just be careful not to scuff them on any concrete stairs. Have owned a few pair and have not experienced the shoe falling apart, but the finish did peel on my last pair. But again, they're cheap.

Compared to the last pair of dressier shoes I reviewed, these are a much better match for me. My major criticism of the dress shoe category is that they offer no padding and are inflexible. Also worth mention is the shoe laces feel like they are made of plastic and have virtually no give. Other than that I believe I will be happy with these shoes.

These shoes fit great and comfortably. I wear them when I wear tables and my feet don't swell up or anything. However they scuff up very easily and the outer layer has been tattered to shreds within a couple of months.

Shoes seem bigger then they are labeled which other people mention. It's proven to be true. The shoes are very stiff even after 3 weeks of wearing them almost daily. Very hard to get them to be tight since they are so stiff. It a cheap shoe both in price and how it's made. You get what you pay for.

I'm confused with these shoes. I bought a pair here on Zappos (who are awesome as always) back in March 2012, and they were amazing. Great price, great fit, comfortable and stylish. But as someone who's on my feet a lot at my job, they eventually wore out after nine or ten months of hard daily wear. Naturally, I returned to Zappos to order another pair on January 2013. They arrived promptly and in the same box. But the shoes themselves this time... felt different. Cheaper "leather." Less arch support. Looser fit. Less breathable. And now it's 4/24/13 and the glue on the soles has already started to come off; the toe cover is already creased and awful looking. My feet ache after a particularly busy day. It's the same style of shoe and the same brand, but it's dramatically lower quality, feeling more like a cheap imitation than the shoes I bought last year. Sadly, I'm going to be looking at another brand. My scores above reflect the second pair, not the first excellent pair.

Based off the reviews, I bought this shoe, and say that I agree with most of them. For the price, it's a great shoe, but I've had it just over a year now, and a tear on the side (where my right-foot little toe is) has recently developed and is getting larger. I'm going to have to toss these and get something else. I guess for the cost for a year of almost daily wear, I can't complain, but I'm not sure I'll get these again. As someone mentioned--these are glued, not sewn--so I think the quality is a little lacking. But the shoe is comfortable and looks decent.

Ordered the shoe about a month ago. When I opened the box there was a strong odor that is very difficult to describe. I thought it was just the new shoe and would wear off. I have worn these several times now and the smell has yet to fade. Other than that the shoe fits well and looks great.

Shoes are fine for the first 6-8 months, then start to split at bend marks. Underneath the micro-millimeter of "leather" coating is a toughened cardboard structure that works OK til it gets wet. Not too bad for the price and convenience of not having to "shop".

Purchased two identical pairs of these shoes, one pair for myself and the other for my son. My son's pair have worked out fine, but the pair I kept for myself squeak on every step and the tops of both shoes between the laces and the toe is collapsed or concave, as if the laces are pulling the sides of the shoe together and causing the leather in between to buckle. I'm wearing my son's shoes today and they look better and don't squeak, but they aren't as comfortable as my pair——they feel a little tight. I would conclude that the quality and construction of these shoes is inconsistent, at best. I guess you get what you pay for.

Nice looking shoe, but major blisters. My husband loved how they felt until he had to walk for about 15 minutes in them. The backs are kind of rough and cut up his heels. He is still trying to break them in. We usually order Hush Puppies but Zappos doesnt seem to have any of the styles we like anymore.

These shoes looked good when I first got them. Unfortunately the finish cracked pretty badly in several locations where the shoes flex on the top of the foot within two months of wear. Of course, Zappos' great customer service exchanged them with no problems!

I like these shoes, they are perfect for work. They look good, feel comfortable and the price is affordable. However, YOU are big and tall. I'm a big guy and I need a shoe that will hold up longer than 3-4 months and the leather won't peel or crack as well. It needs a reinforced heel and a litle more support under the arch where it meets the heel. I've had 3 pairs, where the rubber has split from around the heel. Good shoe, just needs a little more stability.

Not as comfortable as the Deer Stags Times. Not exactly true to size. Stick with the Times.

Seems like a good shoe for the money. Beware of laces, however. Upon arrival, first tie, the right lace broke and two days later left lace broke. A bit frustrating!

Shoes are very comfortable, stiff leather. Took 1+ weeks of regular wear to break in, and the lace eyelets are still tight enough to break laces if you\'re not careful.

I have found these shoes to be very comfortable, but I am not happy with the way the uppers have worn. Where the bottom of my pants rub on the uppers the color is lighter and doesn\'t take the color of shoe polish.

I have never ordered a size 14 shoe and found it to be too big, until I ordered these Deer Stags. Wish they made a 13.5 size. Often I can wear a 15, so I would say these are sized larger than one would think. Looked good though, and felt pretty comfortable.

This shoe runs a little wide for a D. It's attractive enough, but the uppers are pleather so the shoe does not breathe, so is accordingly quite hot in the summer. We shall see what winter brings.
