I bought these shoes for my 6th grader. For a stiff shoe, they work fine for periodic dress-up, not sure how they would wear for everyday use. Most importantly, the "leather" on the top of the shoe got scuffed on his first use, which caused the surface to peel back, exposing white underneath. Hard to hide the white spot now.

Ordered these shoes because they are considered airport friendly. They were pretty uncomfortable and didn't provide much of an arch support.

I love how these shoes fit - I wore my first pair for a little over a year. I purchased a second pair, but after 2.5 months, the outside started to bubble and flake off! Poor construction on the second pair, but my first pair was great... maybe it was just a bad batch.

Too Large, Chewed Up Heel -
I liked the look and feel of this shoe: lightweight, easy stepping, pleasant appearance, and the absence of metal shanks made airports and travel a breeze. However, the shoe was indeed over-sized by at least a half size (perhaps more) and the rolled over heel combing cut serious and nasty blisters on the backs of both my ankles! I'm trying again with this same shoe, now 4 months later, with a smaller size; and I'm going to aggressively soften the new shoes' heel combings before leaving home for a 5-day trip. Obviously, I liked this shoe enough for a reprise but listen carefully to those of us who complained first about the sizing, and second about the stiff, cutting heel combing. I'll write again when I get the new ones ...

Water gets in -
These shoes were allright, but not in a rainy day. When it rains is as though you are barefoot. The water gets in and out as wishes.

Think Twice -
I read the review and thought this shoe would be super-comfortable. It's not. I wore the shoe around the office for about six hours before wearing it outside. They seemed all right for a few days. After walking around New York City all day, my dogs were barking. I developed blisters on the balls of my feet.
I'm 6'4 and 235. If you're normal size and you don't need a lot of cushioning, they might work. If you need cushioning for the forefoot, think twice. (Note: cushioning in the heel is good.) I'm planning to buy a pair of Clarks.

I bought an 11.5 3E and it fit fine. Length and width were great and the shoe was comfortable. I returned it because it was cheap and plastic looking. The leather was not high quality and the dye was so thin across the toe of the shoe, that it looked like a different color from the rest of the shoe.

My husband tried these on, said they felt too stiff and uncomfortable, so we sent them back. Unfortunately you get what you pay for so we'll be spending more on a higher quality shoe.

Coming apart at the soles after 2 months of weekday use. Leather upper is pulling right off the sole. Thankfully, no hassles on the return. Extremely comfortable, other than that.

I owned my first pair of these shoes for 3½ years and was very happy to order the exact same shoe again as these are my main work shoes. The second pair lasted less than 1½ years because the leather covering started to peel off within six months on both shoes and they started looking bad as there is no way to fix them. I have held on to them as long as I can but they really need to be replaced because they now look unprofessional. This did not happen on the first pair. It must have been a bad lot. I hope Deer Stag has fixed the problem but I am not taking the chance just yet. I am a pilot and they are airport friendly as I do not have to take them off for the medal detector. I am going to order a different brand this time and will try these again if there a no other reports of the leather covering peeling off. If anyone can post that they do not have this problem it will help everyone as this is not the fist time someone has mentioned this as an issue.

Shoe strings broke after wearing 2-3 times. Called and emailed Deer Stags with no responce. I will never buy a pair of Deer Stags ever again. Buyer beware!

Not true to size -
Leather uppers creased on the first day I wore them. Comfort sole is nice but the shoe is way too tight.

Dissatisfied Customer -
This is my second pair of Deer Stag shoes and this pair was made in Brazil. My previous pair was made in China and had genuine leather tops, cut lower at the ankle, and super comfortable. That's why I decided to buy another pair. My second purchase was very disappointing. The shoes are not real leather and wrinkled after the first wearing. Buying these shoes was like throwing money down the drain. I'll never buy another pair. I don't think Zappos.com should carry such a shoe. I really thought I was on to something good after my first pair. I had sore feet after a day because the shoes are so stiff.

My heels are killing me -
It chewed up my heel along the achilles tendon the first few days. The "Ultron sock insert" does not provide sufficient lift on the ball of the foot, causing the achilles to scrape against the back of the shoe.
Purchasers with orthotics should be aware that their orthotics may not fit (if your orthotic is flat in back, you should be ok. If it has a narrow base, your orthotics won't work.

My son wears these shoes for school as part of his uniform. Not for gym class or any outside activity. He has had these shoes for three months and they are falling apart! The outer part of the shoe, whatever it's made of, is peeling off. Like a very thin plastic/fabric layer. And the sole of one of the shoes is completely detached. Three months of school wear, as if he's in an office, and they are deteriorating. I'm extremely disappointed. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

Fit, size and comfort are great. Material and workmanship have fallen off a cliff. Once they were leather uppers and lasted for years. Now they are cheap plastic uppers that crack and split within a year, and the soles both crack and come unglued from the upper. Once good shoes are now total trash and not worth the moderate price.

The price, style, and comfort are great. However, the quality of material is horrible for this shoe. I've only worn it for three weeks going to work and it's already falling apart. There is a rip forming at the heel of the shoe which is an indication of poor material. Very silly to buy a shoe that lasts only a month. I've had work shoes that lasted me several years before, so I was really shocked to see this rip form so easily. I suppose you get what you pay for...

The shoes are comfortable and worked well for work for about 2 months until the sole of the shoe basically fell off of the rest of the shoe. I called Deer Stags customer service number they were less than helpful and tried to give me a runaround without making any effort to solve the problem. After raising hell with their customer service for about 3 days they decided to send me a replacement pair. The replacement pair lasted a little bit longer, about 3 months before it started to fall apart as well. I will never again buy a pair of Deer Stag shoes.

When I first put this shoe on I was very pleased. It was very comfortable. However, before the day was over, my feet were sweating so badly that I actually had sweat stains on the exterior of the shoe. Obviously not made for someone who needs genuine leather. Other than that the comfort was good. I just can't wear them. I'm returning today.

I've owned two pairs of these shoes they both were very comfortable. The first pair lasted forever, the second pair fell apart very quickly and I wont be buying Deer Stag anymore.

The Super Underfoot Pedorthic Radical Orthotic is a piece of foam that sits inside a hole in the heel. The heel is hollow like the cheap shoes at Payless. I opened the box, saw they were junk and sent em back.

The black plastic film surface on these shoes comes right off as soon as it gets scuffed a little and cracks where the material flexes. The sole is also coming off. These are by far the worst shoes i have ever bought as far ad durability is concerned.

The sides of the shoe are too high and wide so that it hits the bottom of my ankles when I walk. I didn't notice this much when I first bought them, but they caused blisters at first, and are still uncomfortable after wearing them for 2 weeks. The size is okay for the length and width of my foot (10.5 D), but the wide opening of the shoe has my foot slopping around in them when I walk and the rubbing on my ankles is annoying. Not recommended.

I bought this shoe for work (airline pilot) from the airport friendly choices. I purchased them in April 2010. I am extremely disappointed. First: The shoe doesn't "break in". They remained exactly the same as the first day I put them on...tolerable discomfort. I kept them because even my favorite and most comfortable shoes were "tolerated" during a break-in period and I expected the same. Second: The real problem is the "genuine leather" upper. The black finish is a thin, latex like material that blistered and peeled away at a minor scuff. Underneath is a grey/white material obviously not the shoe leather I am familiar with. The scuffs will not polish out with shoe polish (Kiwi). The blister edges just keep peeling more and more, exposing more and more of the the "genuine leather" material (very frustrating). At this point I have two dime size areas on the shoe toe. They look terrible. Steer clear of this shoe. This issue does not reflect on Zappos. My wife and I both shop here and will continue to do so.

Very disappointing. Within a couple of months, the Pleather-like material started to bubble, crack and peel. People were asking me what happened to my shoes. I had to use a black marker to cover up the defects in the finish.
