Great fit and comfort - This b-width shoe fits the slightly narrower foot very well. Very good stability and motion control. And it has good comfort and arch support, as well. I bought 2 pairs with which to alternate. Great shoe!

Great shoes - Buy shoes online? Never...but I love New Balance and the return policy is good, so I gave it a try, and wow do I like Zappos. I got my shoes the next business day. I've never had shoes for overpronaters before, but my feet always hurt when I stood walked too much, so I thought maybe this would help. I love the support. It felt awkward at first, but it took only seconds of walking around to appreciate the new fit. It felt narrow, but I think it may just be a part of the support feature. It doesn't bother me. These are running shoes, and I'm not a runner (I usually get cross-trainers or walking shoes), but they feel so good I just might take up running. Plus, their vegetarian (hard to find good shoes that don't use leather).

Very comfortable shoe! Most comfortable shoe I believe I've owned. I have very bad flat feet that have caused me to get very bad bunions. Very white though. Don't think I would have bought a white shoe if they hadn't been so comfortable.

Zappos is unbelievable! The New Balance 587 is a great fit and comfortable! Even more unbelievable is the fast way they arrived at my door through Zappos!

NB Only - NB is always my choice: wide toe-box and stability for overpronation. My feet sweat more in these than in prior NB sneakers and I don't know why. It also is cut higher on the ankle than I had expected, but still it feels good. The sneakers please me and I would buy them again.

Best Runners - This is my second pair of NB 587's. They are by far the best runners I have ever worn. I have very wide feet and overpronate but these completely stop me from overpronating. I am also a heavy runner and these have a perfect combo of support and cushioning. Zappos is also the best way to purchase! Shipping is almost faster than driving to the NB store to buy them in person!

Seem like good shoes but seem to be smaller than expected. I have been wearing a size 9 in New Balance but these crowd my toes and my toes touch the top of the toe box. These are supposed to be SL-2 last, seem not to have the wide deep toe box I want and have in my older NB shoes. I will try a size 9.5 to see if that makes the difference.

The shoe was a good fit for comfort and walking. Hard to find a wide shoe that is comfortable. Though the shoe is a bit chunky for my style. I love them.

I wear prescription orthotics and this is an incredibly comfortable sneaker for me. I've been buying it for years. However, the styling is ugly--they don't taper in at all in the middle, so they look like little white bathtubs, or nurses' shoes. I've always wished it could at least be offered in more than one color.

I bought these for support and cushion. The cushion was great the support needed help. I have a high arch, and bunions starting to form next to the inside of my foot. I ordered the Orthaheel inserts which fit perfectly and together with the great cushioning I have the perfect shoe. I walk 4-5 miles every day on asphalt, up and down hills and feet and knees feel great.

Great shoe, I'd buy it again. This is a nice comfortable running shoe. LOVE the roll bar, really stabilizes my weak oft-sprained ankles. Width is good, plenty of room for wiggling my toes HOWEVER, this shoe runs very SHORT. I had to return the first pair I ordered in my regular size and get a full size bigger. I've never worn a 9 in any shoe before except this one. I have other NB shoes in an 8 that fit perfectly, but for this model I needed a bigger size. But then I got the larger size, the 9, and the shoe fits perfectly and I'm happy with the shoe. I did add my own insoles for better arch support, but I do that for virtually every shoe I buy. I'm impressed with the very, very, very good Zappos service.

This shoe was too wide through the instep area for my feet. My feet slide to the end of the shoes no matter how tightly I tie them. The arch support seemed good. They seemed wider than other New Balance styles.

I've worn New Balance shoes for years and was disappointed to find that the difference in the way the shoes fit from style to style is SO different. I ordered a size 13, but it fits more like a 12. Thank you for the free shipping Zappos, because these are going back!

Well...I bought these since I'm an under-pronator and I needed stability to prevent my feet from rolling outwards when I walk. They do seem to do that. I bought a size 8.5 D. Very slightly large. They are very loose in the heel. I'm using an arch support footbed insert, and this adds just enough bulk that it's very hard for me to lace them loosely enough over the arch area to prevent them from being too tight. The laces included are much too short! I could barely even tie a bow. I replaced them with 54" laces from my old pair, and this lets me lace them more loosely. Also, I found that by lacing the very end/extra holes at the ankle (that I don't normally use), it helps to keep them from sliding up on my heel. Also, some colorful laces help the look of these. They do look fairly cloddish/orthopedic. I would return these if I hadn't already worn them walking. Giving them 3 stars overall though since they do what they are intended to do - provide stability.

Disappointing for New Balance. Materials seem cheap -- the shoelaces are really short even for my narrow feet! Toe box too narrow, as I'm finding with many NB newer models.

I have worn NB for well over 10 years, my first gripe is I hate having to find a new shoe after finding one that fits, because they are always changing. On top of that they feel like they just keep getting smaller/narrower which doesn't work well with my bunions. These in particular felt crowded in the toe area and were not wide enough. Will be ordering again in a wide and hope that works out for me. I liked the way the look, so hope the new size works out.

Purchased a size 8 which is my size across the board for pretty much all shoes types and brands but these sneakers felt like a 7 at best. I could barely get them on and my toes were so crammed in, it hurt to stand up. I double checked the size on the box and on the shoes which confirmed they were a size 8 so not sure if this was just a freak sizing issue on this particular pair as I have never bought this brand before. Sending back and will look for a different brand. For the price point, regardless of the size issue, they felt very cheap and stiff.

These are ugly and cheap-looking. There is no arch support. If you underpronate, these will help, but, again, no arch support, so beware.

These shoes are not at all comfortable. The soles are squeaking. There is no shock absorbent padding in the shoes.

I had read from others that the quality of New Balance was not what it used to be. I witnessed this first hand. I ordered W587 in 3 different sizes/widths. The sizes were accurate but in 5 of the 6 shoes I received, the big toe and front toes area was sewn so poorly inside that the materials were bunched up. It is no wonder that others complained about sore toes after trying to wear them. I have given up on New Balance after being a devoted fan for many years, and sadly have decided to order another brand.

Totally discouraged: I hoped these would be a good substitute, as one reviewer suggested, for New Balance #1123 which were so comfortable and fit me perfectly - I've owned several pairs over the years. The "replacement" #1540 just does not work - they are too loose and sloppy in the front half, as are these #587. Apparently the SL-2 last is no longer for me. I've been trying to figure out if NB even makes shoes I want anymore. After spending a total of probably 2 days on the internet, as well as trying on shoes locally, I think I've given up. (Staff at the local NB store is of no help, even has an "attitude"). I have no idea what will work for me any more.

These shoes were billed to be an alternative to the discontinued 1020 NB running shoe. Trust me. They are not. After trying to modify the fit with extra arch supports, heel stays, and elastic laces, they still do not fit properly. In fact, I have my first case of shin splints in my life after 40 years of running. I am very unhappy with this shoe.

So stiff and hard it doesn't feel like an athletic shoe -- more like a leather oxford. I usually wear a 2A, but this was so narrow even the B felt tight. Wore this number style years ago, but obviously it's changed and not for the better.

I wouldn't have minded the ugly look if the shoe had any other good feature. Will be returning it today. I'll stick with the Brooks Addiction 10 I just bought (also from Zappos). They don't look very pretty either but I ran 6 miles in them this morning without hurting my flat feet and "knock knees."
