A comfortable running shoe that has plenty of space in the toe area. I was recently diagnosed w/ Morton's Neuroma in my right foot and started the search for a sneaker that would help me feel comfy. I had a pair of Adidas a few years ago that helped me with it, but that style is no longer available. Anyway, I found the NB 587 on a list of recommended sneakers. It is a comfy sneaker; it has the room that I need in the toe area, but...it's not very pretty, lol. I do find it kind of strange that the sole has no definitive left or right shape and for some reason I just can't get past that--I think it makes the sneaker look UGLY. But I guess comfort is what counts for me at this stage, and it is comfy, so 5 stars all around.

My New Balance tennis shoes are great! I shopped around at stores here in Michigan and they were more money, so It was very easy to order through Zappos. They have free shipping they came the next day! I recommend doing all your shopping through Zappos. There return policy is great!

I ordered the New Balance W587 after reading all the great reviews. I have had a lot of problems with my left ankle hurting and wondered if I needed the kind of support these shoes offered. I have had these shoes for a month and have had a lot of improvement in how much my ankle hurts. I can walk more while wearing these versus any other shoe. I am very pleased with these shoes and feel they are well worth the money.

These shoes fit and feel great! I have a wide foot and pronate. I am on my feet 10 hours a day at work. These shoes are so comfortable, with enough toe room, and they hold my foot in correct alignment so I walk properly. At the end of the day my feet don’t hurt, and my back and hips don’t bother me either.

I was very pleased with the service as well as the shoes. They were delivered immediately. I couldn't believe how fast. The shoes fit perfectly. It was the first time I ordered clothing on line and this proved to be a very positive experience. I will certainly order again in the future.

Everything I asked for and got it. I have "lucky feet" so my grandson says. I have hammertoes and bunions. These W587s are roomy and comfortable and make my feet feel better. I need to ear orthodics in all my shoes and this 587 is just perfect for my feet. I am 67 years old and I play golf 3-4 times a week and I wear my 587s because they are so great.

My second pair - I still have and wear the first pair I bought, but after several years of wear they are not so dressy and no longer qualify for spiffier occasions. I keep meaning to wash them, and now that I have my new pair, will do so. I have a wide foot, and this is a great shoe.

Great shoe! I love this shoe. I suffer from foot issues and this shoe is so comfortable. I have worn this shoe since 2000. I am so happy I could find it on Zappos.com. If you haven't ordered from this company, you must do so. This is the first time I ordered from this company and I will continue to do so. They are great, as is the shoe. Be sure and try it if you are looking for a shoe with comfort and it also holds up very well.

Great running and walking shoe - I really don't like how these shoes look, but I've just purchased my 4th pair. They are incredibly comfortable and supportive. I use them for walking, jogging, and step aerobics with no problem. They have a lot of cushioning and support to prevent pronation. They run a bit small, so I order a half size larger than normal. The forefoot is wide but the heel is average. I've been to a new balance store several times and tried on every shoe in the store (that comes in 10.5 wide). These are invariably the most comfortable.

Great athletic shoe - This is my second pair of 587's. I got my first pair when I was suffering from plantar fasciitis. They accommodate my orthotic inserts very comfortably.

THIS SHOE SAVED THE DAY - I had just received the New Balance W 587 WB when my husband has a heart attack and was sent to a hospital in Seattle, three hours from our rural, retirement home on the Olympic Peninsula. I packed the car and followed him over there, grabbing my new shoes to wear. I had a two-week stay in Seattle and only had my new shoes with me. They saved my sanity and kept my feet in comfort the entire time, while I walked all over this large hospital and back and forth to my hotel. I am ordering another pair immediately!!

Excellent sneaker - I recently purchased these sneakers, and they are the best NB I have ever worn. I only buy NB, and these sneakers are comfortable right out of the box. There is plenty of room in the toebox, and there is good padding around the ankle and tongue. The full-bottom sole allows for continuous support throughout the walking cycle. I am very pleased with this product.

New Balance 587 - Delivery of my shoes was superb!! They were here within 24 hours. Since I need this type of shoe for corrective purposes your timely delivery was great! The shoe is comfortable and allows me to walk and even hike short distances. I would like it to be a little less showy, but it DOES WORK!! Thanks for your great service.

For over a year, I was having a terrible time with sciatica, I did lower back exercises, went to physical therapy, chiropractor etc. In November, I purchased a pair of New Balance 587s. Within a week, I was pretty much pain free. At first I didn't put it together with the new shoes, but when I didn't wear the shoes, I would start to get twinges. This shoe literally changed my life.

This shoe prevented surgery. When I started working out, I had no idea about shoes, so I got the wrong ones. A year later, I had a painful neuroma between my 2nd and 3rd metatarsals and a bunion. A podiatrist wanted to cut on the bunion, but he seemed uncertain about why the inside of my foot hurt so badly. An orthopedic surgeon explained I had been "power walking" in a walking shoe instead of a running shoe or cross trainer. The overly flexible sole allowed too much bending in the foot. He recommended Saucony or New Balance. Since only New Balance came in my tugboat width, I bought a pair of these. Now, I can walk for miles without pain. I'm stuck with the bunion, however.

Based on the reviews, I tried this shoe as it seemed to have the right shape to accommodate a bunion and my squared-off toes. It has a roomy toe box, but I felt like my foot was merely in the shoe, but not wearing the shoe. It also made my feet hot in the short time I had them on. Still, I would probably have bought these until I tried on the Saucony which also has a roomy toe box, but has better arch support and conforms to my foot better.

Good value for pronation - This shoe is described as being for "excessive over-pronators" which is what I am. I don't run but I do walk at least 20 miles a week. In addition, I am a weightlifter so I'm heavy for my shoe size and am thus very hard on shoes. I like a lot of support, almost like a hiking shoe, and most sneakers have too much mesh for me and feel very floppy and loose on my feet. This shoe is very sturdy and feels great on my feet. The pair of sneakers I had before this were shot, and my body was paying the price in aches and pains. As soon as I put these on I felt better. The price is good for what you get. I can't speak to the durability of these shoes as I've only had them 3 weeks. In general I like their plain style, but the sole is a bit blocky looking since it is straight on either side to stabilize your feet. It's not that noticeable and I doubt others notice it. I have orthotics but find these shoes work better without them. I think because of their unusual design putting an orthotic on top of their arch support tilts my foot too much. They don't quite support my arch as snugly as I like, but I think a store bought arch support would fix this and my body tolerates walking in these shoes without my orthotics fine.

Decent running shoe - I purchased these shoes for the "Roll Bar" technology. I overpronate when I run, and so need that extra support on the medial post. The shoe does its job well as a stability shoe for sure. These shoes have surprised me happily with how light they feel. As opposed to the Brooks I've worn in the past, these felt like racing flats! As for looks, these shoes look great from the side, but always look a bit goofy to me from above as I'm wearing them. The tips/noses of the shoes are some of the most rounded I've seen and so look a bit odd to me (but that's personal taste). The only two problems I've had with these shoes are friction and arch support. I have very flat feet, because these shoes have arched insoles they give me pain in my inner arches. Also, I find that these shoes more than any Brooks or Mizunos I've had in the past create more friction as I run. That is, my feet get burning hot running down hills!! I think both of these problems could be fixed by wearing custom insoles and/or buying a smidge of a smaller size (I wear 9's normally, and 10's when I run, but I think I could've done with 9.5's for these).

Buy for comfort, not for looks... Seems to be a good shoe for the heavier over-pronator. Have only walked in them; have not tried running yet due to previous injury. Would prefer a little more padding under ball of foot, but most running shoes come up short in this area. I am a large-framed female with PF and I have found this shoe to be comfortable w/o orthotics.

Trying the 587 again - My shoes fell apart during Hurricane Katrina, and desperate to get some decent shoes on me. Nothing was open over here - thank goodness for Zappos! After trying several others, went back to model I've been wearing. But it seems that 587 is now a little narrower around toe area..not as roomy and rounded as before. Also think it needs a longer string. Had same problem with the last pair. But - overall -most comfortable of all that I tried on. Zappos is also the best company I have ever had the experience to deal with. You can really trust them to follow through with what they promise!
