I purchased a half size down and at first thought I should have gone for a full size down because my heel tended to slip. After a week of wearing they were broken in and my heel got used to the fit.

These boots are great. I wear them casually with jeans, I also work retail so I'll throw khakis on with them too. I'd go a half size down if you want a real secure fit but your normal size would definitely work.

Wear these and you are a stud. Women dig you. Men want to be you. Animals are drawn to you in love and admiration. Spilled red wine on them and thought they'd be stained but it dried and brushed right out. Great service from Zappos. I wear a 12 and the 11.5 size was the right fit. You can't go wrong with this classic boot; they go with everything including a suit.

Unbelievable shoe/boot. I have searched for years (literally) for the right boot. These are the right boot. From Buckhead in Atlanta (close to where I live) to farm pastures (where I frequently work) these boots are great. I have had so many boots and am so brutal to them, I expect to replace every 6 months. I have worn the current pair 100% longer and am about to order some more now.

This is a very comfortable and stylish shoe. I wouldn't take a long hike in them, but for a general purpose, running around town shoe, they are great. I ordered the beeswax in my normal size. They are probably about half a size too large as I have a lot of room in the toe of the shoe. When I first got them the back of the shoe was kind of stiff and rubbed against my ankle. However, in no time the leather softened and these are extremely comfortable. I found that by tying the shoes a little tighter, they seem to fit better, not too loose and they work great. I like these so much that I decided to order another pair in brown suede. This time, I ordered half a size smaller than my normal size which should work out perfectly. Overall, a really great shoe. It's stylish, comfortable and of good quality construction. I recommend this for anyone. Finally, I must say that Zappos is incredible. They have the best service of any online retailer that I have shopped. They make ordering shoes fun. I was never really into shoes until my wife introduced me to Zappos!

These are awesome. The soles get more comfortable with age. They are a bit stiff at first. I also wear a size 10-10.5 in most shoes and I got a size 9 here. They fit very well and are not big on me. They look perfectly proportioned to my body. I wore them for around 3 weeks then lathered put olive oil on them. They are extremely comfortable unless you go for long walks. Just get a insole and they will be fine. First pair of boots I have owned aside from when I was 12. I am 27 now. Worth the money the leather is great. I compared them to other boots of this style in the mall and the leather was way thinner.

Buy at a least a full size below normal; I bought size 9's and ended up giving them to a friend who wears size 11's. I got 8.5's and those were still a little loose. Otherwise very stylish and decently comfortable.

I wear a size 10 and I ordered a size 9. It fit perfect. They are comfortable and I have had no discomfort at all. They break in super fast and look amazing with a very slim tapered pants. The crepe sole takes on the color of whatever you are walking in. Just an amazing boot. Best money spent yet. If you have never ordered these, get them 1 full size smaller. Trust me on this one. They may feel a little tight at first but within a few hours that goes away. I ordered 1 full size smaller and I have a about a cm worth of space in the toe still.

I recently purchased a pair of Clarks Desert Boots--Sand Suede color . . . very comfortable. Does anyone know what is best to use to protect them? Thanks for any help you can be.

Bought these for my fiance. He absolutely loves them. Very comfortable and true to size. Worth the investment.

Fantastic, I have been addicted to these since my first pair and will keep with them as long as I can. Wear perfect, I am about a size smaller in these than normally so they run long, but they are great.

Great boot, the color is a bit lighter than the picture (I like the actual color better). They aren't THAT comfortable, but there was no break in period and I am having no trouble wearing them every day. Great, classic style. Wish I would have bought these sooner. I usually wear a 10.5 in any athletic shoe, I ordered a 9.5 and 10 in this... stuck with the 9.5.

I have purchased Clark Desert boots since I was 17 years old. I am 56 now.  These shoes are classy, informal and when new even elegant. The fit is slightly larger than regular 10.5, but this works when wearing heavy sox for winter months. The heel leather is hard and rubs the back of my foot, but after a few weeks of wearing these, the rubbing goes away. Not impermeable: do not wear in snow even if you apply sealants. Seal changes the color on the light suede models to dark beige. all in all, the best shoes in my closet!

Great service from Zappos. I followed the advice from others & ordered a half size down. Because the return policy is so effortless, I ordered a second pair a whole size smaller. A half size did the trick. Thank you, Zappos!

The boots look great! I did have to exchange the first pair because they were too big, but the exchange process was so easy I didn't mind.

I got these for my boyfriend; he loves them! You can dress them up or dress them down. They are not very comfortable at first. You really have to break them in.

Great pair of boots. True classic in both appearance and fit. The leather upper is really stiff, but it is breaking in nicely. Looking forward to many years of use.

Love them. Look great, after over a month there aren't many scuffs and super comfortable. Size runs even bigger than dress shoes usually do. I wear a 9.5 in dress shoes and these 9.5 are a little too big. I'm going to get the black version in size 9.

I bought these shoes for my daughter's boyfriend for Christmas. He wore them day one and continues to now. He said they are very comfortable and they look very nice. Live the color.

These are awesome shoes that I got for my partner. He was thrilled but the size ran half a size too big. They are very durable and will take a little while to wear in. That also means that they will take along while to wear out!

While I don't mind the shoe and love Clarks shoes as a whole, I do have to advise the color for the Desert Taupe boot as it is represented on Zappos is not exactly as it looks when you receive it. It is much lighter. I just ordered two pairs thinking I received the wrong color...just to be certain. Nope....it is indeed much lighter then what you see in this picture. Sending back.

I bought these as a Christmas gift for my husband. We had seen a similar boot at J. Crew. This boot is MUCH higher quality, and my husband says it provides more foot support as well. Highly recommend this show!

I received a size 14 (normal size for me) for a Christmas gift. I had almost a full inch of room at the end of my toes, and my feet were sliding around in them. Returned and got a size 13 the next day, which fit like a glove. They are very good looking and will (I think) be more comfortable in time. I marked four stars for comfort because, even though they seem to fit snugly and have moderate arch support, I can tell that they will need to be broken in.

I purchased the Desert Boot for my young adult "somewhat Hipster style" son, as quality, but casual footwear for his new job. Previous to these boots, my son was wearing "Chuck" hi tops, or Vans. It was time for a bit more mature style for his job as a Sales Rep. I knew that the Clarks brand would be good quality and I wanted something sewn for durability. I feared my son would feel the style a bit too old for him, but I was very wrong. My son absolutely loves the Desert boot. The boot was plenty wide and was comfortable right out of the box. The boots pair well with my son's new...more mature - yet still hip look that he likes.

My son LOVES these shoes. Great fit and go well with lots of stuff. Sturdy and comfortable...hard to beat that for a 17 year old!
